Carried forward from the previous thread.

Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

If I really needed help I’d either recruit a friend in exchange for buying them a meal or pay someone.

It’s over a year now since I put Kitty’s tower up & it hasn’t fallen down yet Grin

I have a pretty good social life but there’s something very special about being able to close the front door & know it’s just us.

RumNotRun · 09/01/2026 22:20

Another definite fan of living alone and staying single. I don't think I could merge my life with anyone else's again. Plus Fred doesn't like anyone coming into his home, and his happiness is obviously very important.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/01/2026 23:03

I get the cuddles I need from Girlcat and as for the other stuff, nothing a bit of plastic & a couple of batteries can't deal with 😜😱😈

I entirely agree.
I don't want to share my life with a man again.

I'm happy to have friends who are men, to go out for lunches etc and invite round for dinner.

A dear woman friend of mine died in July and her DH has been very helpful, by taking the cats to the vet's. I'm happy to invite him round. But not for a relationship.

The implement and batteries are all I need.....

I have often said that without my lovely husband Gary I really could not not be bothered dating again ( we have been together 40 years he is the most patient man on the planet)
I would just surround myself in cats

I feel much the same. Mrs G and I have been married for 33 years. Can't imagine having to bother with all that dating nonsense again.
I'd stick with cats too 🤣

EmpressaurusKitty awwwww how cute! 😍

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats would Miss Sybil allow another female in her domain though? 🤔

This cold weather has flicked another switch inside The Stray and she has discovered human legs can be reasonably warm, especially if her special blanket refuses to heat up switches off. Housework can wait, right??

I love that photo of Kitty!

I've been away from the thread for a couple of days and Broons fending off multiple suitors and it seems that nearly everyone except for me has had a ban or at least a post deleted at some point. I haven't had that happen even under my other username where I sometimes argue with people and have been critical of MN. I feel like I'm missing some sort of badge of honour.

Good luck with getting approved by the rescues Breadcat.

Esgaroth · 11/01/2026 11:58

DS and I went to a museum yesterday and they had a little exhibition on the history of cats and dogs which included this quote from a 'male born 1916'. Kettle thinks the old women sound eminently sensible.

Never been banned but I have only been on just over a year (posting) so there's still time.

Lovely article in Sunday Times magazine-an interview with David Baddiel about his love of cats. And he has a three part tv programme about cats starting on Friday 16th, 8pm. Channel 4, if anyone is interested!

Pixiedust1234 · 11/01/2026 13:20

Thanks for the TV heads up, I'll make a note!

My only advice is don't post on AIBU. They are savages over there and don't appreciate humour. Just sayin'

I'm also wondering if MN has made a pact with cats up and down the land as my MN browsing habit has exploded since The Stray has found my legs.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/01/2026 14:19

My apologies for a bit of parental pride or relief perhaps. DS1 has flown to Hanover this morning to start his first ever salaried position 😁. Having been a freelance musician for years a bit of stability is great. It's only a six month role but it's the role he has always wanted and it should open doors for him going forward so we are really pleased for him.
He's instructed to send photos of NMGCs.

To quote another poster from I can't remember where:
I'm dying of cuteness!😻😻😻

Pixiedust1234 · 11/01/2026 14:36

Wonderful news Grumpy! Even better that it's a role he's been really wanting ❤

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 11/01/2026 14:46

Grumpy that's wonderful!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 11/01/2026 14:49

I nearly ran David Baddiel over in Hampstead in 1996.

I was on my way to a night shift in the Labour Ward at the Royal Free Hospital.

Baddiel came out of a curry house with a takeaway in his hand, and ran across the road, right in front of my car.

🤣🤣🤣

LostCats2 · 11/01/2026 15:34

Ah congratulations DS of Grumpy and @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats ! I bet that is a relief and amazing news for him and you. How lovely ❤
But photos of cats needed!

Pianoaholic · 11/01/2026 16:08

Congrats to your son @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats. That is great news. I am already worried about the stability of classical music as a career choice and DD is only just into her 2nd year of a 4 year course. Then she wants to do a postgrad year...How good a clarinettist does she have to be?!
She is set on it though, and has been picking up a few paid orchestral gigs around London.

EmpressaurusKitty · 11/01/2026 16:28

That’s fantastic, congratulations Grumpy’s DS!

JoanOgden · 11/01/2026 16:36

Oh well done Grumpy's DS1. Hannover has a great orchestra, I heard them live at the Proms once.

KeziaOAP · 11/01/2026 16:58

Well done Grumpy and Mrs G's DS1.

HumanToCatBeasties · 11/01/2026 17:20

Congratulations to your son Grumpy.

RumNotRun · 11/01/2026 18:09

Congratulations to your son @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats you must be very proud.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/01/2026 18:52

Many thanks all for your kind comments. @Pianoaholic - wishing all the best to your DD. I'm nervous too having two children following classical music careers - but at least as performers they are less likely to replaced by AI than doctors, lawyers or IT professionals. 😁

And as requested.
