Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

@JaceLancs Glad Finlay has perked up

Micia has stopped sitting on the widowsill and now on a chest of drawers. I think is is progress?

Oh look at those eyes!

Yes, that's progress.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/02/2026 14:25

The thing is she's not hiding, she's just keeping her distance. I think this bodes very well 😻

Yes indeedy.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/02/2026 14:45

I'm really glad that Finlay is okay again @JaceLancs

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/02/2026 15:54

I'm conscious that we're nearly at the end of this thread, and as I have day surgery to look forward to tomorrow, I'm going to post a link to the next one shortly.

Grateful thanks to Grumpy for doing the honours with this one whilst I was temporarily incapacitated due to MN's ignominious rejection of my presence on their illustrious site.

Linney is still annoyed with me for not letting him out at midnight last night.

Good luck tomorrow, @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne.

Thank you. It's been a clusterfuck to organise getting there.

The Widower is driving me. We're leaving at 04.30.
Argh.

Pudmyboy · 23/02/2026 16:11

Oh my goodness, is it worth going to bed at all Broon ?
I hope it all goes smoothly tomorrow 💐

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/02/2026 17:00

And what the moggies make of that?
Jumping on your head at 23.00 for a late night snack?

I know. I'm expecting that.
And Linney will wail at the door all evening, so I won't be able to sleep anyway.

I should send him to my stupid husband's place, to bother him for a few hours.
Hmm

RumNotRun · 23/02/2026 17:59

Good luck tomorrow @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneand good luck trying to sleep tonight!

CatsonPollock · 23/02/2026 18:04

Best wishes for tomorrow @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne
Hope Linney and Gizmo are also keen for an early night and an early start!

Kirova · 23/02/2026 18:29

Micia is sussing out her surroundings, @Breadcat24. She looks cautious now, rather than scared. Baby steps!

@JaceLancs glad Finlay is on the mend! Maybe he had a bad mouse and was snoozing it off.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I hope all goes well tomorrow.

I was having a nose on some other threads (notably one about kittens) and I was really saddened to see how many people are adamant that they'd never adopt a rescue cat of uncertain provenance. Obviously my experience is somewhat limited (to two foster cats, plus the rescue we had when I was a child who was honestly the loveliest and friendliest cat ever). But I don't see that it follows that they'll have hideous health problems or hideous personalities. Both FC1 and FC2 have honestly been a pleasure to have around, don't seem to have any obvious health issues, and although I think they both require a certain type of home, they're neither of them "difficult" cats. To be honest, I wouldn't mind having some horrible ones as they'd be easier to part with!

I wouldn't worry @Kirova. Each to their own but all of the ten cats we've had have, without exception, been rufty tufty, born on the wrong side of the sheets, purebred moggies.

I've never had any desire to have a posh pedigree cat. I've always thought mogs are the best looking cats and from a health perspective are generally healthier and longer lived than pedigrees. I suspect there are plenty more like me around - quote a few on this thread I suspect 😁.

Really? That’s very sad. Every foster cat I had was wonderful & most of them were of completely unknown provenance.

Allergictoironing · 23/02/2026 19:10

3/3 of mine have been rescues, and though Tobias has his moments they are down to fear rather than nastiness. And the other 2 both the sweetest natured animals ever who never once bit, scratched or even threatened to.

OK I've had some bad luck with illness with both the boys, but we're pretty sure Boycat's CKD was just one of those things. so that's 1/3 who has health issues due to his past, and of my sister's many cats over the years (always rescues) they never had health issues.

Breadcat24 · 23/02/2026 19:11

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Best wishes for tomorrow- I hope all goes well.
I hope it is not an op to remove a ball of undigested bugglegum!

LostCats2 · 23/02/2026 19:16

Best of luck tomorrow @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne ! and that 'the boys' go to bed quietly and give you no trouble tonight 😁

I had wondered @JaceLancs if it was a bad mouse too. Hopefully all good now though!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/02/2026 19:44

All of my cats have been rescues.
I wouldn't want a posh cat either.

And I certainly didn't get one when Gizmo strode purposefully into my life

Edited

To he fair Gizmo is the very personification (catification?) of a rufty tufty moggy despite unconfirmed rumours of some Bengal ancestry.

OP posts:
Kirova · 23/02/2026 20:37

Gizmo does have those black Bengal pawpads. FC1 has them too.

Breadcat24 · 23/02/2026 20:59

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne you'v not had a bad mouse too?
