Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

Girlcat is of the view that a) She Who Must Not Be Named is an adult who can look after herself, b) vanished from the other end of the country so is unlikely to be in Kent and c) is far too comfortable at home in this weather. Tobias will only ever follow Girlcat's lead he is so besotted by her.

I may not agree with Girlcat, but I'm merely her slave with no self agency.

In other news, both have been very disappointed at me going back to work for most of the week. Not that they miss me, but because the heating is on for fewer hours during the day.

Pianoaholic · 03/01/2026 09:31

No snow here in Bath!
Quite glad really as yesterday we were visiting relatives and didn't want our plans ruined by the weather. I expect Herbie is happy there isn't snow. It's freezing though!

EmpressaurusKitty · 03/01/2026 09:57

Snow here near the end of the week I think, but already freezing. Kitty asked to go out, stood in the doorway for a moment & changed her mind.

But she can confirm that SWMNBN isn’t in my bed.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/01/2026 09:59

We've had some evidence of snow on roofs but none settled on the ground here yet. Waiting for it to get some 'black cats in the snow' pictures.
Took DS2 to the airport this morning to return to Tallinn. Weather there for the next few weeks is predicted to be between -3 and -10 degrees with snow every day 🤣.

I haven't ventured outside yet but it is lovely and sunny here in Cardiff with not a cloud in the sky. It's practically summer 😁

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/01/2026 11:16

No cat in snow pic but I just took this one of the wall to give an idea of how much there is ❄️

Oh it LOOKS lovely here in Kent too, barely a cloud in the bright blue skies. But the frost has only just cleared off the cars in the shade & it's bloody cold outside. I think I'd prefer a bit of cloud cover, reflects the warmth back down.

Cats are in (not on) my bed, as the heating is off for a few hours.

Have they checked it for SWMNBN?

Allergictoironing · 03/01/2026 13:33

That was their excuse, though they stayed in there after checking...

Obviously doing the job thoroughly.

We were in Bath just a few days ago! Took my family on the train for a pub lunch and a visit to the Roman Baths. I grew up quite near. My eldest (Nordic) child complained bitterly about the cold, although I hadn't brought any of her heavy duty winter stuff as usually our summer stuff is quite sufficient for a SW English winter.

Esgaroth · 03/01/2026 18:18

Happy New Year everyone. Kettle and I have been MIA for a while with being ill and then visiting family in England (no cats, only dogs). We just got home yesterday evening and Kettle was OUT and hadn't eaten his dinner left for him by our neighbour!

He finally swanned in at 11 pm and it was -5 out so god knows what he was doing. Hopefully he hasn't started Six Dinner Sidding somewhere. He was very purry and cuddly when he realised we were back and I ended up rather late to bed as I was enjoying cat cuddles so much 😄

My dear cat was pts in November 2025 he was 12 and I thought he was healthy. However a blood clot hit his spine and vet told me there was nothing they do for him. He was a ragdoll x a very loved by me and my family.

I hope you’re all ok now. @Esgaroth. Kettle didn’t come across SWMNBN while he was out, did he?

I’m so sorry, @PandorasBox7.

He declined to make any comment about where he'd gone, what he'd been up to or who he'd met.

I feel I may have missed something here so off to read the end of the last thread.

Pianoaholic · 03/01/2026 18:34

I'm not from Bath originally, I grew up in Basingstoke...Bath is a much nicer place!
Glad you enjoyed your visit!

CatsonPollock · 03/01/2026 18:43

So sorry to hear about your cat @PandorasBox7 💐

One of cats (19 yrs) had something similar - vet said it was a saddle thrombus and nothing could be done. So sudden and heartbreaking.

Hope you are remembering all the good times with him. What was his name?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/01/2026 19:28

I brought Louie out for a snow photo and he was seriously unimpressed. Wailed at me until I carried him in. There’s been a good bit more since this pic - DP has been away at football and his train home’s been cancelled.

So sorry to hear about your cat @PandorasBox7 - we lost our last lovely girl to cancer aged ten in 2024 and it absolutely ruined me. 🤍

😭 the kitty loss stories kill me, we lost our darling Lottie two years ago and I miss her every day, she was 17 but in fine fettle seemingly, the snuggliest lap cat who came everywhere with me, suddenly went downhill and turned out she had CKD 😭. Heartbroken 💔. Feel the pain of you all who have lost your darling cats xx

JaceLancs · 03/01/2026 21:41

Hello everyone - not been on here much due to festive season and then going down with pleurisy over new year
Finley is very comforting when not well and has also been helping with Lego as usual

@JaceLancs I hope you are feeling better now, pleurisy is so painful.
I am impressed by the slippers you are wearing, they match Finlay: was that a factor in choosing them?

So sorry to hear this, if you want to talk about your boy or share a photo, please do 💐

JaceLancs · 04/01/2026 08:47

@Pudmyboy thank you I’m starting to feel a little better as the steroids kick in - it’s very painful breathing in cold air so can’t do much
I confess the slippers were chosen to match Finn as I do love grey 😊
