Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

I’ve just been chatting with a work colleague about her Christmas.

She made the huge mistake of leaving the turkey unguarded in the kitchen while she answered the door to her guests.

When they came back the cats were busy tucking in.

Oops.

Christmas at Annie's a few years back. Had been extremely careful about keeping the turkey, sausage meat, pigs in blankets etc safely away from her cats.

Went into the kitchen to find him ravenously devouring the home made chocolate log. Bearing in mind that the chocolate buttercream I make for that is one of the richest known to mankind, we were very surprised when his stomach didn't react the next day.

As for us, we just cut off the bit on the end Oscar had been chomping on & ate the rest you do NOT waste my home made chocolate log!

Good to have you back and hear all about what you've been up to @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne ! 😂
The NMCs were so gorgeous I am posting another photo of them (don't worry, I haven't traded Herbie in!)
Apparently when we left, the Burmese cats behaved very badly. One was sick under the piano, one weed up a curtain, and they all started scratching up the carpet. They were good as gold when we were visiting!

And a photo of Herbie so he doesn't feel left out!

My parents always store the Christmas cheese in the garage which adjoins the house but is nice and cold. One memorable Christmas our two pointers managed to get in there unobserved and were discovered desperately inhaling cheese as fast as they could - they knew very well that they'd be in a lot of trouble.

They were rather unwell 😄

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/01/2026 20:00

Allergic, your chocolate log sounds amazing!

They probably liked you so much they were protesting your departure.

Allergic, your chocolate log sounds amazing!

It has been described as "dangerous", accompanied with a massive grin and a demand for more.

Sadly, standing and baking is something my back objects violently too these days so is a bit too painful to do any more 😢

JaceLancs · 07/01/2026 05:28

Too cold for Finlay here tonight

Looks like he has spotted something worth pouncing on @JaceLancs !

RumNotRun · 07/01/2026 22:05

Lex and I are lying in bed reading and snuggling. He's such a love bug when it's cold!

RumNotRun · 07/01/2026 22:06

My boy 😍

Yay! I was going to ask if you had gone back to rescue place yet.

Good luck! The right cat will find you ❤️

Pianoaholic · 07/01/2026 22:50

That's great @Breadcat24 hope you find one soon!

EmpressaurusKitty · 08/01/2026 03:34

That’s wonderful news, @Breadcat24. Good luck!

RumNotRun · 08/01/2026 06:43

Good luck @Breadcat24

Allergictoironing · 08/01/2026 07:40

Ooh fingers crossed @Breadcat24 . When I lost Boycat & needed a companion for Girlcat, the perfect (for her) cat was one of the first I looked at on my first visit to a rescue. Hope you are claimed by the right cat soon.

EmpressaurusKitty · 08/01/2026 07:55

I was dipping into my childhood Winnie the Pooh book yesterday evening & came across the story of their Expotition to find the North Pole.

It was a lot shorter & simpler than our expedition to find @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne. But also more perilous, when you consider Roo falling into the river, Eeyore’s numbed tail & the mental & emotional trauma suffered by Alexander Beetle.

Basil and Sybil are being interviewed today for a job in local library as bookends.

The cats had to go to the vet for their vaccines this week. Stripey refused to come out from behind the piano as she could sense I was up to something, and I had to move the piano right out to get her. She is not happy about this violation of her safe space, so is now sulking up the chimney.

(It’s actually much easier to get her from there than from the piano but she doesn’t know that.)

Poor Stripey.

Suzy popped in to see me when she realised that Gizmo had gone out

Poor little Stripey - but at least it's not Snowcat up the chimney!

One of our cats (when a lot smaller and slimmer..) used to hide in the piano itself. There was a gap in the body of the piano under the keyboard and she used to be able to get in there - first time she did it we had no idea where she was and thought she was lost.

And DD's cat hides in a fireplace opening very similar to yours 😁

Sybil has striking eyes, a bit scary to me, like she can see right through any nonsense going on..
Am I right in thinking Basil's left eye is a little gunky? Hope it was temporary, if so!
