Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

The boys are trying to kill me with the cuteness today.

Adorable. And it looks like there’s a really good conversation going on at the back.

RumNotRun · 06/02/2026 11:49

I think Lex had just finished licking Toad's head when I took the photo. They're so silly

Breadcat24 · 06/02/2026 12:18

@RumNotRun Such a cute pile of cats

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/02/2026 12:42

@RumNotRun - love a cat pile 😻

That photo is lovely @RumNotRun and makes me wish I had a good few cats!
Herbie would not be impressed though.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/02/2026 15:45

Rum that's a wonderful picture.

RumNotRun · 06/02/2026 21:01

Franken likes to reserve his affection for the heated blanket and me.

Kitty helped to change my bed earlier. She’s in charge of testing to make sure the sheet & then the duvet are both put on properly, which apparently takes a lot of energy because you have to skid over them, jump around a few times & pounce on any invisible bed monsters.

She’s a bit annoyed now because I’ve dropped a jumper on all her hard work.

Kitty definitely looks dismayed in that picture.

'You just can't get the staff these days' 😹

Kitty is adorable. That judgemental little face!

Foster Kit has bounced back from her surgery. I spent most of today "working" from home while trying to persuade her that she should run up stairs, leap onto furniture or climb up things. Not quite the "several days in a quiet, comfortable and darkenes space" being dozy as the internet suggested she should have.

I don’t know if this helps, but I put Cat TV on YouTube for mine when they were recovering & it usually kept them quiet for a bit at least. I’m glad she’s feeling ok though.

When Ghostie had her back leg amputated years ago, the vet said to try to keep her calm and that she shouldn't run or jump for a few days. As soon as the painkillers wore off, the little madam was determined to try out her new three wheel drive and, apart from falling over occasionally, it thankfully didn't cause any issues. The vet did suggest possibly putting her in a cage but she would have got really stressed.

Thanks for the tips! I did try calming cat playlists, but she leapt up and ran out of the room. She does (oddly) like to watch videos of planes landing at Heathrow. Maybe thinks they are special big birds which she'll be able to hunt when she is allowed outdoors!

I actually like watching planes landing, too.

I live on the Heathrow flight path (so does Grumpy I think) & it’s amazing how quickly you stop noticing the planes. For the first few months after moving I was diving for the Flight Radar app every time I saw one.

Kirova · 07/02/2026 12:40

So do I, actually, although not super close. But we get all the late take offs to Asia going over in the evening/night and they're low enough that you can tell what the airline is. We don't even notice them any more, but when my dad visited us he commented on how loud the planes were!

Breadcat24 · 07/02/2026 13:14

@EmpressaurusKitty @Kirova I kid you not I grew up in the same town as a royal ordinance factory. It as about 2/3 mile away but when they tested bullets there was a barrage. We just did not notice it unless we had guests who got very alarmed and sometimes crouched and hid!
I want to play Micia cat you tube but dare not leave a laptop playing in there in case she swats it. we do have a an old tv with a DVD player which might be a bit more robust though so I have bought a DVD off ebay

EmpressaurusKitty · 07/02/2026 13:16

The only times I notice the planes nowadays is when guests react!

I hope Micia enjoys it, @Breadcat24.

Kirova · 07/02/2026 13:16

Foster cat is very keen on laptops. She's figured that is she stands on the keyboard when someone's writing an email, exciting flicky things appear on the screen. She very nearly sent an email to a colleague the other day, saying "qkijjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjikuuuuuuuuuuuuujjjjjjjjj".

Couldn't agree more. I only register them now when other people draw attention to them.

I had one who was obsessed with chasing the cursor.

I was the same with trains. Used to live pretty close to a main rail line for the first 30 something years of my life, then my first own house was if anything even closer. When I moved to a house not near a railway line it took me a couple of months to work out what was missing.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/02/2026 21:49

We have a visitor (and a very grumpy Lenny).
