Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

@RumNotRun
I did a fire walk as some sort of management bonding bollocks
It was OK you move quick

Breadcat24 · 29/01/2026 22:16

I think we are settling on Micia as a name
Looking forward to bringing her home
Going to spoil her rotten as she is shy- any advice gratefully received

I bet you do.

I can't work out how to pronounce that.

The burns unit at her local hospital.

Specifically the foot dept.

😂😂😂 It actually is a hospital, but a children's hospital that does fantastic work here in Wales. It's called Ty Hafan.

Must remember, no rum before the walk, only afterwards 😁

I've had to make friends with five different starving but scared strays in the garden who kept running off and I totally agree with Empress

made sure newcomers had everything they needed within sight of their chosen hiding place including treats.
Then I visited them every couple of hours, sitting still, reading aloud or talking to myself, not too close, facing side o & pretending not to notice if they looked out at me.

I found facing sideways and glancing out of the sides of my eyes was extremely important. Leave a sweaty t-shirt near the food so they associate your smell with something good would also help. Oh, and after a couple of days start with the slow blinking.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/01/2026 02:33

Sweaty T-shirt’s a brilliant idea & I love the name Micia.

Pudmyboy · 30/01/2026 09:48

I second Broon: how is Micia pronounced @Breadcat24 ?
I love 'Saturday is Caturday'!
One day to go!😻😻😻😻😻

Breadcat24 · 30/01/2026 11:54

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and @Pudmyboy
She is fuffy and tiny only 2.5 kg so it seemed right for her!

Micia is a rare, primarily feminine given name with Latin and Italian roots, often interpreted as meaning "little one," "soft," or "gentle". The name is sometimes used as a pet name for "kitty" (pussycat) in Italian.
.

  • Pronunciation: MEE-sha

I’m in an Italian Facebook group for cat lovers - Micia gets used a lot 😻.

Breadcat24 · 30/01/2026 12:02

Also I would feel a right idiot calling "Babe" into the back garden

Micia is lovely.

I agree Babe is just a bit too silly* and besides is a pig's name.

*In case anyone thinks I can talk with a cat named Kettle, his proper name in our local language is a very respectable Old Norse name (Ketill). But tbh Kettle kind of suits him anyway.

Pianoaholic · 30/01/2026 18:20

Looking forward to updates about Micia!

We were worried about Herbie yesterday, as, in a world first, he refused most of his food.

I was all set to book the vets today, but he must have heard us talking and today he was back to his usual greedy self!

Breadcat24 · 30/01/2026 18:52

@Pianoaholic Glad Herbie is ok

Yes, could get a bit embarrassing if the neighbours thought you were shouting your husband in for his dinner from a dark garden.

I'm not keen on Babe as a cats name and she definitely doesn't look like a babe. Micia is lovely. I will look forward to the updates and pictures of her in her new home.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/01/2026 20:03

Have spent all day at local A & E with DS2.
He can't feel or move his legs.

He's now been transferred to neurology at Paisley hospital (100 miles away).

Am very, very worried.

Pianoaholic · 30/01/2026 20:07

I am sorry to hear that @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne. I hope he's OK.

CatsonPollock · 30/01/2026 20:17

Oh goodness! @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

I do hope the docs are able to sort it out and your DS is fine. 💐

KeziaOAP · 30/01/2026 20:56

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne sorry to hear about DS2 what a worry, hope you don't have to wait too long for news.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/01/2026 20:56

Very sorry to hear that news. Keeping fingers crossed for your DS @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

I‘m so sorry, @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne. I hope your DS recovers quickly.

Esgaroth · 30/01/2026 21:26

Oh my goodness, that sounds extremely worrying 😟

I hope they get to the bottom of it soon and it's nothing too serious.

Breadcat24 · 30/01/2026 21:29

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne i hope he is ok

Pudmyboy · 30/01/2026 22:25

Oh no @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne , what a shock, I hope whatever is the matter is fixed quickly and permanently. Has someone gone with him, or, have you got contact details for the ward/unit? Though I think a lot of people just keep their mobiles on them these days 💐💐💐💐💐

I was with him all day today, then they decided to send him by ambulance to Paisley.
There would be nowhere for me to stay there, and no buses back.

Typical that my stupid husband has buggered off when he'd actually be useful.

Anyway, DD and I are going tomorrow. A friend will drive us there (it takes three hours) and we'll see if they know anything more. He needs a CT and MRI and a lumbar puncture.

It would be the weekend! Hospitals always grind to a halt.
