Lenny however needs a rest before he starts searching.

There were so many lovely cats in the rescue. Coming up to the glass door and meowing. Heartbreaking. On the plus side most of them had blue dots saying they were reserved

HumanToCatBeasties · 28/01/2026 19:09

That's a massive coincidence. I follow the Cats Protection I adopted Matilda and Boris from on Facebook. After seeing your photo I was scrolling and they had a post of a cat up for adoption and I thought she looked familiar and then realised it was the same photo!

Pudmyboy · 28/01/2026 19:15

Oooh can't wait to see Pusski in her forever home! When will you get her home @Breadcat24 ?

Breadcat24 · 28/01/2026 19:20

I have a "home check " call tomorrow then if that goes well we can pick her up up as soon as possible

Breadcat24 · 28/01/2026 19:24

@HumanToCatBeasties hopefully showing as reserved now!

HumanToCatBeasties · 28/01/2026 19:37

I've had another look and it was posted a couple of days ago. She got lots of admiring comments.

Esgaroth · 28/01/2026 21:21

She's beautiful 😻

I bet you can't wait to get her home. Congratulations!

Esgaroth · 28/01/2026 21:22

Do you know anything about her history/age etc? I realise it would be an estimate as usual for stray cats.

Breadcat24 · 29/01/2026 14:36

A fool and their money are soon parted. Not even had the final vetting call and I am running amok on Amazon.
Darling Breadcat never wanted a bed- she liked a black bin liner over a pillow. Never wanted or cared for toys, but did hug a fish filled with catnip.
Why I think this one needs an igloo, a bed, a tree, or other stuff I am not sure!

Breadcat24 · 29/01/2026 15:49

Saturday is Cat urday!!!

Do not want to tempt fate but I am so excited I cannot resist

She is absolutely beautiful!!

Congratulations ❤

RumNotRun · 29/01/2026 16:18

@Breadcat24 you have to buy lots of presents. I have decided cats show their love by rejecting toys and beds. How else can they show their superiority except by having disdain for our offerings 😁

They said yes?! 😻😻😻😻😻

Breadcat24 · 29/01/2026 16:48

She has been described as the most fearful cat in the centre. She was a stray in a garden with neighbours feeding her scraps. They think she is about 1 year old.
I have never done this the normal way- getting a cat from a rescue. I have only ever had stray cats rock up.
Advice is one room to start with, then expand out. We will build a catio around Bready's balcony so that she can go outside without getting lost.
Any advice you guys have is very welcome

HumanToCatBeasties · 29/01/2026 17:21

How exciting for you Breadcat. It's lovely that you're taking on such a scared cat. I'm guessing that might be why she hadn't been adopted already despite being so beautiful.

Breadcat24 · 29/01/2026 17:56

@HumanToCatBeasties Good of you to say. She will have a peaceful time here with a couple of 60 year olds!

EmpressaurusKitty · 29/01/2026 18:32

When I fostered, I made sure newcomers had everything they needed within sight of their chosen hiding place including treats.

Then I visited them every couple of hours, sitting still, reading aloud or talking to myself, not too close, facing side on & pretending not to notice if they looked out at me.

One of them hid for 48 hours before deciding to risk coming up for a stroke. She went on in leaps & bounds from there.

The rescue will tell you what food & litter she’s used to - I’d stick with those at first & change gradually if you want to.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/01/2026 18:54

I'm so excited about your new cat @Breadcat24

When we got Linney and Emerald we bought them beds and igloos. I didn't buy a tree because there wasn't room.

They stayed under the sofa for ten days although Linney started coming out quite often after two days - but he always went back under the sofa.

Then I moved the sofa on the tenth day and Emerald came chirruping out.

She was totally ready to be friends.

Linney then decided that he ought to hide under the table. I think he thought we couldn't see him.
🤣

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/01/2026 19:00

Gizmo, however, didn't hide at all.

He just waltzed in, ate the food we put out for him, ate Linney's food for good measure, had a dump in the litter tray, then upended it so all the litter and poo scattered on the carpet.

Nothing loath, he then went to sleep in his cat bed (which his previous owner had supplied).

His next move was to try to take Linney's house from him, but Linney had other ideas..........luckily.

So rescue cats do vary enormously.

True.

I had one who was a lap cat by the end of his first day, & another who more or less swaggered out of his carrier & started knocking things over.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 29/01/2026 20:59

I don't think I've ever had a shy cat - even on day 1. 🤣

I've just done something either brave or foolish 😁 I've signed up to a charity "fire walk" ie walking over hot coals. It's not even for a cat charity!

Wow. I think one of my exes did that.

What are you raising money for, @RumNotRun?

The burns unit at her local hospital.

Specifically the foot dept.
