Scottish Tourism - the Excellent Cats debate Gizmo's suitability as a top influencer

Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

If you’re right for each other, & depending when you’re away, they might agree that you can pay in advance & take the cat when you get back.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/11/2025 21:27

I have always believed that the right cat ends up with the right person.

Well until Gizmo strolled nonchalantly into my life that is

@EmpressaurusKitty that's very kind but I think my sister will be getting me one.

I am trying not to go on to any cat rescue sites. 6 (5 3/4) cats are more than enough although I would love to have my Vixie back with her stupid face and dopey tongue. Now my ex isn't around much, no more getting new cats for me!

Pixiedust1234 · 05/11/2025 22:15

I am so sorry to hear about Vixen, hopefully the rest of the tribe are helping to heal the void she has left behind Flowers

learieonthewildmoor · 06/11/2025 01:50

In more exciting news on the topic of Cat Three behaving as if he would survive in the wild, he has worked out how to use the new feeder!!
I did have to set it to “Easiest to access” but to be fair even Cat Two was having trouble with it. I am so proud.

As for that faux cat machine, it’s like saying a bike is the same as a horse. In order for it to really feel like a cat, it would have to emit heart rending yowls and leap about trying to escape your baggage.

It’s nearly time for the next thread!

Despite living in a musical household, Herbie doesn't show any natural musical aptitude!
Unlike Grumpy's cats!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/11/2025 11:15

Absolutely love Herbie's Beatles' hair cut. I'll never be able to unsee that now. 🤣

Lenny volunteers to be music librarian.

I slept in this morning, which is unusual.
I would've slept in for longer if Gizmo hadn't managed to jump on to my bedside table to wake me up, displacing everything and hitting me with an Atrixo box.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne what do you expect if breakfast is not served on time!

You're right, of course.
Crazed by hunger, Gizmo had no option.

I expect he was doing it for Linney too.

Kettle politely knocks on the door if he thinks it's about time we were getting up (scrabbles on the door with his claws).

Pudmyboy · 06/11/2025 12:04

Pud used to sit just out of reach and meow tunelessly, and very annoyingly, every 10 seconds or so. And sharpen his claws on the laundry basket. And sit on paper shopping bags I left out for him to sit on, but then tear at the edges noisily. All just beyond arm's length and actually very effective at making me get up, at which point he would gaily scamper downstairs, to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Esgaroth · 06/11/2025 12:09

You just can't get the staff these days, can you?

Clever boy, Pud, obviously.

Kitty can communicate almost everything by either staring or foot pouncing.

RumNotRun · 06/11/2025 14:01

Toad and Lex like to get me up by strategic and dramatic vomitting. Thankfully it is normally just the sound effects rather than anything more ...productive.

Basil miaows at us and then deliberately scratches the carpet while staring at us if we aren't moving quickly enough for him.
He has us fully trained.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/11/2025 15:19

I got back from the choir yesterday to find two specimens of cat vomit on the carpet.

Conveniently they were both on the hall carpet, which is easy to clean.

I hate it when they do it on the sitting room carpet, as it's pale blue.

We swear by Vanish carpet mousse. Very effective for lots of cat stains 🤣

Hey, guess what?

I got a phone call from Argyll & Bute In Bloom to tell me that I'd won the second prize in the Garden Pots and Planters section.

(Or at least, my scumbag husband has won it - he was the one who did the garden)

Anyway I'll spend the Co-Op voucher myself on chocs and gin
