Calling all cats! Come and get some chicken.

Walter can help with the shedding. He comes near me for a few seconds and I end up 90% cat. @HumanToCatBeastiesi love Lego. Have a huge collection and no space for more currently.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/09/2025 00:42

Golly there are loads of you who are good with Lego.
Is there a correlation between liking cats and doing complicated Lego?

As a frustrated cat person who can't have any because one of my kids is extremely allergic, who lurks on this thread for the photos (and Gizmo's antics), I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry to hear about what's happened @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne. I'm glad to hear you're well supported by family and friends.

*Ducking back to lurking so my dogs don't find out I'm a traitor.

EmpressaurusKitty · 25/09/2025 07:52

Good morning from Kitty & me, @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne, & we hope you got some sleep.

Stuffing all his crap into bin bags would be perfectly acceptable, better than throwing it out on the street like many do. Not just his clothes but everything of his in the house (that you don't want or use yourself of course). Send him a message giving a choice of dates and times he can come and collect his stuff and tell him it will go out with the rubbish/go to a charity shop if he doesn't get them within X time.

I just thought - with only you there, are you going to be able to stay where you are (thinking costs here)?

Hi Allergic. I'll be fine, because I get Pension Credit so my rent is paid.
I've been doing some sums and I'll be okay, money-wise. I had a look at the bills and I can manage.

There is so much food in the freezer and the cupboards that I will barely need to buy anything other than vegetables, fruit and milk for absolutely ages. I make my own bread.

The cats will have to be sent out to work to pay for their upkeep though
🤣

I will ask DS2 to facilitate the clothes handover.

If ex doesn't want his clothes, the charity shop will. I would never throw good clothes away.

I’ve thought for ages that Gizmo could sell his story.

It’s always getting mentioned on threads about similar situations, isn’t it @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats?

He could become the face of a Scottish tourism campaign & then become a top cat influencer.

You may want to consider disinfecting them first, in case his stupidity is catching 😆. I assume that as an elderly Scottish man who may have had good taste in the past but clearly has none now, nothing will be worth trying to earn a few bob on Vinted?

Gizmo could become the next Maisie.
Except Maisie was a cute kitten and Gizmo er isn't 🤣.

Actually his behaviour does remind me of the old Glasgow expression.

If at first you don't succeed. In with the boot paw and then with the heid.

Gizmo - the face of Glasgow 🤣

What, this lazy article?

Advertising sofas? 😆

Or telling the touching story of how he was a troubled thug cat in London who just wanted to make friends but didn’t know how, then found himself whisked off on a journey & ended up in a whole new world… where he carried on biting people.

Come to think of it, you could just hire him out as a guard cat.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/09/2025 11:01

Gizmo - the face of Glasgow

Nooooo.

Linney was born in Glasgow. Although I imagine him more as a Kelvinside kind of cat, rather than an inhabitant of Govan.

I know we're not quite at the end of the thread, but we're starting the dementia choir in a new location today, so I'll be out for ages.

I have, therefore, started a new thread.
But feel free to fill this one up first if you wish to.

Govan? Far too upmarket for TC. The Gorbals or Castlemilk maybe.

Another lurker (can't have pets for family reasons but love the thread) just posting to send good wishes @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

Pixiedust1234 · 25/09/2025 12:14

Wow Broon. I thought you were one of the few rock solid couples on MN 😮 Sending lots of hugs and good thoughts your way Flowers

Anyway, please show me pictures of your cats. That always distracts me.
Ummm.... yeah...

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I’d pay a lot of Dreamies to see Gizmo in that Maisie outfit. Although (I may have dreamt this) isn’t there a picture of him in a very fetching Christmas jumper?

Even with my teeny tiny old lady, I’d be risking a limb trying to get her in a sweater. Best I can do is this photo of her in a vet suit-she was very poorly indeed when the vet wrestled her into it!

Mumsnet says it's lost this thread!
Edited to add: but I found it in the Litter Tray so all is well!

Pixiedust1234 · 25/09/2025 17:03

Is that a vet suit or a fat suit? If it's the latter I could do with one, she looks very long and slim 😂

@Pixiedust1234, definitely a vet suit, she weighs 2.2 kg and is 19 and a half years old, although a bit younger in that photo
