..... behind Gizmo, of course.

Calling all cats! Come and get some chicken.

Lenny is back in his undersized box. Looking only marginally less scruffy than usual.

I hope Sebastian is OK! Sounds scary.

EmpressaurusKitty · 22/09/2025 13:27

Any news on Sebastian, @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne?

Esgaroth · 22/09/2025 13:34

Today is Kettle's first anniversary of coming home with us. We couldn't have asked for a nicer cat. He's given us so much.

Here he is in his cage at the rescue centre, on his first day with us, and yesterday evening as we finished the latest Strike novel and he deposited white hairs all over my black jumper.

Sebastian is home from the vet's.
She said that they sometimes have bloody mucus with hairballs, which could have also gone through to his poo.
Lovely.

But he was fine on examination and belied his age (14) by jumping off the table and on to a shelf, where he got himself behind a laptop.

So he only needs to go back if he vomits blood again, or seems unwell.

Leanora had this problem a few months ago - such a worry when examining poo in the tray 🐯.

Great news - very pleased to hear he's OK.

What is it about cats & laptops? Great that he’s ok.

Darling Kettle! He's so lucky now.

The vet attempts to get Sebastian out, by offering him a Dreamie.

Never fails.

Great news that Sebastian is OK. Hope he got even more Dreamies at home!

Happy Anniversary @Esgaroth and Kettle.
Hope there's plenty of celebratory treats there as well!

I am wondering what opinions are about this....Herbie has obviously kept going next door and eating the neighbour's dog's food as he knows about it now and he's a greedy so and so.
They are leaving their sliding back door open slightly but locked in the slightly open position so that there is just space for their dog to get out for wees etc (unfortunately that means Herbie can get in!).
Our neighbour asked us about putting a strip of spikes (strong plastic spikes which are very pointed) to prevent Herbie. But they would have to put them all round the garden and anywhere Herbie could get in so I am not sure how effective it would be. DH was concerned Herbie may get hurt, as am I, so he was non committal about it with the neighbour.
Thoughts would be appreciated, especially if anyone's had similar.

Pianoaholic · 22/09/2025 19:55

I have googled and as it's our fence they are not entitled to do this. It also says the spikes must be blunt. DH said the spikes are pointed.
Whilst I want to remain on good terms, I don't want Herbie injured!

RumNotRun · 22/09/2025 19:57

@Pianoaholic Someone more knowledgeable will probably offer better advice, but I think cats are usually clever enough to avoid the spikes. Is cat proofing your garden an option instead though?

Pixiedust1234 · 22/09/2025 20:00

@Pianoaholic - I would refuse. I hate those spikes with a vengeance and my new neighbour has them on one fence. Even the poor squirrels have trouble with the spikes and they are super agile with tiny feet. It affects birds and foxes too. They need to come up with another plan imo.

Happy Anniversary Kettle! You seem to have moulded your peeps into decent slaves quite quickly!

Pianoaholic · 22/09/2025 20:06

Thanks @RumNotRun and @Pixiedust1234 .
Not sure about cat proofing the garden. I wonder whether their dog can use a catflap and they can install one which they mentioned before.
The problem is that the dog likes to graze on his food and Herbie scoffs his down at once.

RumNotRun · 22/09/2025 22:44

Lex has abandoned the tent to come and sit next to me to make biscuits. His little arms are like pistons so I think there's a rush order of Lexter biscuits for all the Magnificent Cats and their Humans. He is also purring while making them so you know they come with love.

Hmmm...not sure if we can accommodate that order. Lex doesn't like anything with the D.O.G word in!

Pianoaholic · 23/09/2025 07:17

Understood.
I need to wean Herbie off the dog biscuits anyway!

Kitty would like some, please. She says she’ll swap them for one of her corks or a go on her skateboard.
