Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

ENGLISH CATS!

Come to Scotland - find out what’s behind the Broon bathroom cupboard.

Not sure about that one.

My three Glasgow cats from many years ago.

I have Scottish heritage (my nanna on my mum's side!)
Herbie hasn't, as far as I know.
He was found wandering around Swindon! (so couldn't be re homed there apparently). Maybe he had made too many enemies on the streets! Stealing food I should think.

Kitty’s West London born & bred, as far as I know.

That picture could be on a greetings card, it's a very cute lineup

I have one Scottish great grandparent... don't think that counts for much.

Kettle is a pure Viking cat but he's too tired for much marauding right now.

I'm now wondering if cats from different parts of the country miaow with different accents. Did Linney and Gizmo struggle to understand each other at first?

RumNotRun · 25/09/2025 17:24

I'm sure I read something about ducks having regional (or maybe national) accents.

One of my old cats was from Barry, so every time Barry from Bari is mentioned, I read it the other way round.

Linney certainly struggled to understand why Gizmo had suddenly moved in with him.

The grey cat at the right end of the windowsill had the grumpiest miaow I've ever heard. He was an intact stray in Glasgow who just decided to move in with me (my first cat). He was the best natured cat ever but definitely miaowed with a Glasgow accent. 😻

Love a fangy cat picture!

Agatha is from deepest, darkest Devon. Rescued (from an unethical breeder who decided she was not economically viable as a breeding queen) and had her delivered via authorised pet courier during COVID to SE commuter belt. She hates travelling with a passion.

Still failing to load photos. ☹️

@ShoutyCatSlave I can't remember what you said you've tried already.

I heard Linney outside, singing the song of his people.

That only means one thing: he's brought me a small rodent or bird as a doubtful supper treat.

I looked cautiously into the garden, and he was standing beside a dead bird. When he saw me, he grabbed it and made for the front door, but I was too quick for him this time.

I did thank him though, as I was shutting the door in his face.

We got thirty people at the new dementia choir. It was a great success, and a local shop came and donated mountains of their home-made ice cream.

Local shop? I promise y'all that it wasn't Royston Vasey.

Look at my bread! Linney jumped up to have a sniff, but backed off in alarm when he realised how hot it was.

Wow! Do you use a bread maker?

Yes, my trusty old Panasonic.
I got it second hand from Ebay just before the pandemic and it's served me well. It was really handy during Covid, being able to make my own bread.

Oh no, I don't believe this.
Gizmo is limping and hobbling. He's hurt a front leg somehow.

I'll have to beg someone to drive us to the vet's tomorrow. And give Gizmo some gabapentin tonight, and tomorrow morning. And get DD2 round to help me wrestle him into his basket.

Oh, and get DS2 round, to accept and put away the Tesco order. It would be coming tomorrow.

Argh. What can have happened to him? He's eaten two pouches since he came in at 5pm. He seems well in himself.

Hopefully he's just bruised it @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneand will be better in the morning.

Fantastic bread, there's nothing quite like freshly baked bread with proper butter. I may have to get the bread machine out tomorrow!

Frederick has been eyeing up the cabinet for a few days and, despite me saying "no" and "don't even think about it" in my sternest voice, this happened.

I hope so. Stage One was easily accomplished. He's had 100mg gabapentin just now. At least he'll be covered for pain overnight. He can't take Metacam.

Ooh no Broon, poor Gizmo. Miss B had a stage of hobbling and limping , 2 vet visits with painkillers, anti inflammatories. At the 3rd visit, an MRI was ordered at a cst of £300 . The next day she was miraculously cured.

massive coeliac envy for your fresh bread I’m not bothered by b pasta, pastry, even biscuits or cake but fresh bread Grin

The patient is now asleep under the table. He quite often sleeps there.
