@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne sorry about the freezer

Thank you.
We have a fridge freezer in the kitchen which is working, so we haven't lost all our frozen food.

The one which unaccountably failed was in the store cupboard. We've had it since 2018. I opened it two nights ago and everything had defrosted. There was no power failure as nothing else was affected. We changed the fuse and zilch.

So DS2 and Pa Broon lugged everything to the dump, minus the fillet steak and the chicken. There was a lot of batchcooked stuff in it, too.

It’s a bit of a coincidence.

Pianoaholic · 15/08/2025 17:59

That's a pain about your freezer @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne .
Herbie isn't quite sure what to do with himself...downstairs is being vacuumed and DS is practising saxophone upstairs.
So his only refuge is on the stairs, sulking!

That must be so disappointing, especially the batch cooked food going to waste. I really hope you enjoyed the fillet steak though. My fridge freezer is about 20 years old and needs replacing. You've inspired me to get on with it and buy a new one tomorrow. It's a bit worrying that yours is relatively new.

Poor Herbie, trying to decide which was more unacceptable to cats, the dreaded hoover or the saxophone.

Ours take the opposite approach - we sometimes get woken up in the middle of the night by cats who have broken into the music room and are playing on the piano keyboard.

Pianoaholic · 15/08/2025 22:13

Oh yes, your cats are very musical and keen to do their practice!

Hello everyone, this is Glo (Welsh word for coal; pronounced “glow”). Here she is enjoying some post-prandial time with her library.

We both have separate libraries; an arrangement we came to after agreeing to respect each other’s differing approaches to literary criticism. Glo is a follower of the Deconstructionist school.

Hello, Glo.

That's a fine mess you've got your personal library into.

Linney likes the picture of Glo and says he'll save her a place next to him in the chicken queue whenever she feels like travelling to Argyll.

That sounds like a very civilised way to handle things, and what a marvellous name for a black cat.

Welcome from Kitty & me. Her full name is Empress Kitty-Bellissima of the Seven Oceans but that’s a bit long for every day.

I like Glo's filing system!

Herbie has been a pain this evening. He kept attacking the electric cable on the fan. Then he was frisking about and distracting us from the film we were attempting to watch.

Revenge?

Hi Glo from Frankenstein, another Welsh cat. Well, he lives in Cardiff so not "proper" Welsh 😉 We would love a library but perhaps with more intact books! The tribe just like sharpening their claws on the covers of my books. Fiends.

RumNotRun · 15/08/2025 22:51

Oh, sorry, Frank just reminded me I forgot his picture!

She's made a few edits.
Reads much better now.

Mama and Mini Pollock approve the new condensed edition. (Well, they would if they were awake)

Glo has the exact same wall-mounted cat tree as the Empress Kitty-Bellissima! It is in my bedroom and is situated in such a way that the most obvious landing zone when Glo jumps off coincides with the location of my full bladder when I’m reading in bed.

Lol. What a lovely pair!

When I first posted a pic of Glo and her library on Fb some years ago I was worried some of my academic friends/colleagues would be horrified. Quite the opposite! Glo regularly receives donations to her library from academic colleagues who apparently derive a considerable amount of vicarious pleasure from her book reviews. She has received numerous copies of the works of Judith Butler for some reason.

My 10yo can't practice for his piano lessons without being joined by Walter on his lap, who then plays the keyboard with his head 😂

Greetings All! Rico and Marty have woken me up (by taking turns pouncing on my head) specially to ensure they are in the queue as they are also cats who are often underfed, starving and in need of additional calories. Now I am suitably awake, they are both snoozing…possibly faint with hunger.

Obvious, or carefully targeted by Glo for maximum effect?

Revenge?

Yes, it could have been revenge for having his peace disturbed by the earlier vacuum/saxophone duet.
Herbie was banished in the end...DH opened the living room window and 'encouraged' him through it. Then he disappeared into the night!
