Pa Broon and DS2 have made great inroads in DD2's garden.

It was a jungle last November. A nightmare. A wilderness.

It's improving now. Vegetables and fruit have been planted and a water butt installed.

This adorable boy bit me hard! For some stupid reason I thought it would be a good idea to grab him from behind when he was about to get in a fight. Got to spend the afternoon in A&E getting it cleaned, tetanus shot and antibiotics… Still love him though

We bought a house last year with a former 'garden of the year' (as honoured by our town) and I fear we're slowly ruining it due general cluelessness. I never know what you're supposed to cut and when, or whether something is a weed or not

Apart from dandelions, I can do them.

We went on a family mountain hike today (nobody's ill anymore) and saw a ptarmigan with her chicks 😍

No cats about - good thing too.

If you were Grumpy, you'd have taken several photos of the NMPs.

We didn't want to upset them by getting too close and the zoom on my phone camera is not great, so I do have some photos but they are 90% vegetation, a small brown blob and some tiny brown blobs. Doubt you'll spot the chicks 😄

I don't think I'll be in the running for wildlife photographer of the year but you can probably see some NMPC in this one actually.

Kettle is much more tired than me, even though he didn't climb any mountains today.

I went for a walk with some friends around Cosmeston Lakes today. Saw, and gave peanuts to, a lot of crows. Not as a big group so no murders! I also met a NMC (Not My Coot) They have very odd feet.

Walker1178 - he looks positively angelic in that photo! I hope your hand heals soon. It took DD a whole week of going to A&E daily to get her bite flushed and antibiotic drips from a (different) strays nibble. He thought her finger was a treat 😕

Esgaroth - Apart from dandelions, I can do them.
The latest thinking is that you leave them to flower (but deadhead them asap) as they give bumble bees the nectar they desperately need, especially early in the year.

The Stray is not impressed with this heat and is not happy I haven't turned the outside thermostat down yet.

Question for anyone who knows about birds.
Have seen a few of these handsome chaps in Tallinn. A quick Internet search suggests he's a brown hooded gull - but if he is I've no idea what he's doing in Estonia.
Any thoughts?

A bit more squirreling suggests he (she?) is a breeding black headed gull. I don't remember ever seeing one like it before though.

Apparently black headed gulls are very common across Europe, Russia, and Asia. Poland has one of the highest concentrations on them. He/she is very fancy looking. I do like gulls, even the herring gulls who wake me up most mornings at stupid o'clock!

Not bitey, but hangry. Feed us…
