All cats welcome.

Even bitey ones.

That’s very naughty of Kettle.

Kitty’s been distracted from her evening bath by someone honking their horn.

How rude of them!

Kettle is upsetting me by leaning out of an upstairs window to chirrup at the birds on the roof. I don't know if he realises how much it frightens me but if he does he doesn't care.

I'm too scared to leave my upstairs windows open more than a crack after someone I know had his cat jump out of his upstairs window. The cat was rushed to the vet and was fine. I realise that I'm being a bit paranoid and most cat owners will leave their upstairs windows open, but Boris isn't the smartest of cats.

Finlay is mightily peeved with the rain this weekend

I’ve got Flat Cats screens on my windows. They do custom sizes & they’re easy to fit & very hardwearing. Several of my fosters enjoyed climbing them.

I just spoke to Pa Broon who told me that Gizmo brought in a dead bird earlier.

I'm so glad I'm not currently at home.

I bet you are, Broon.

How was St Bride’s?

Esgaroth · 20/07/2025 21:35

Yeah a net might be a good idea. We can't have them closed because the upstairs gets boiling otherwise. I know he's very unlikely to fall out of the window but at the same time I know the chances aren't zero!

Esgaroth · 20/07/2025 21:36

I tell him to get down this instant but he completely ignores me and I'm scared to grab him in case I push him out by mistake!

JaceLancs · 20/07/2025 21:38

@EmpressaurusKitty
I have the flat cat screen on my bedroom window but it’s to stop Finlay coming in - not falling out of the window!
The kitchen dining extension has a flat roof and Finn found he could jump in through window - he landed on me in bed in the middle of the night once and more than startled me!

I bet most cats would find that really funny, @JaceLancs!

Screens might not make him get down….

I'll have to have a look. None of my windows own very far anyway, only the top bit opens. Would be nice to have a bit more airflow around the house.

Kitty’s son! I fostered the pair of them until he went to his new home & she announced her intention to stay put.

I meant to quote @Esgaroth there.

I put them up by myself in about 5 mins & the Velcro is still going strong 3 years in.

Allergictoironing · 21/07/2025 08:29

10 years for mine! Starting to think about un-gluing from the window frames finally, but still OK.

EmpressaurusKitty · 21/07/2025 08:44

Kitty’s enjoying her catnip. The discussion about screens makes me think I should also set yearly reminders for checking the sticky hooks holding the balcony net up - they’re pretty sheltered though & I’ve never seen her pulling on it so it ought to last a while.

Love the new mat! 😸
I think Wembley IKEA is due a visit...

Question for PPs with window screens:
we have a velux window that is in jumping distance from the floor (in our loft room) and I'm always worried that Mini Pollock will launch herself through it when it's open and end up like a flying squirrel! Has anyone been able to fit the screens over velux-type windows that open by pivoting in the middle?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/07/2025 10:54

Thank you - we didn't need one, but for £8 how could I resist an impulse purchase 😀

Well I can see why she was glad of the rest once he'd gone, he does seem quite energetic. Not dissimilar to my own son who is also fond of climbing on the furniture... (not that I'd want him permanently gone 😆).

But it makes sense that such a handsome cat would have such a beautiful mother.

Kitty says thank you.

We’ve had one or two updates & he’s very happy in his hew home, with a garden & kids to play with.
