All cats welcome.

Even bitey ones.

That’s absolutely shit, @Allergictoironing. I hope he’s able to get into his place soon.

As for AI bots, maybe that’s why Kitty went from under the duvet to the top of her tower & refused to come down once she was up there. Maybe she sensed something I couldn’t.

Can AI bots ingest wine and cheesecake?

Can AI bots ingest wine and cheesecake?

I'll just check that with chatGPT 🤣

Loving the updates of the London trip, glad @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats made it home and didn't wake up this morning locked inside an empty bus at the depot after all his 🍷🙀😉

Gratuitous pic of floppy Kloppy 🥵

I went to Eltham Palace today & saw this wonderful NMC.

Finally found a Norwegian NMC!
We were wandering around the back streets of Bergen and there it was!
Very sweet and friendly it was too and allowed us to make quite a fuss of it.

Eltham Palace is amazing! Weird juxtaposition of the Medieval with the Deco, but all done with fabulous good taste.

Did you see the flock of parakeets? I'm guessing the weather was a bit bad for them to be out & about, but in summer they often hang out in the trees beside the cafe.

Not this time, but we’ve got a flock in the local park who shriek a lot.

Ghostie and I were in the garden for a while earlier. She had great fun trying unsuccessfully to catch grasshoppers. She doesn't usually play hunt so it was quite cute to watch her trying to get them.

coastergirl · 20/07/2025 00:31

Evening all! I'm so sorry I've been awol. I kept trying to catch up and not getting very far. So lovely to read about Grumpy et al meeting up!

I come bearing photos of NMBC (not my barbers cat) a beautiful 3 month old ragdoll kitten. She was amazing and so friendly.

Tomorrow I'm going to Rhodes with my boys. Apparently there are loads of cats there.

coastergirl · 20/07/2025 00:34

It would help if I attached the photos.

Talking of parakeets, opened the bedroom curtains this morning to find an NMP on the balcony outside staring in.

Very pleased a Norwegian NMC has been spotted, and most impressed by the first NMBC reported 😻

Also from Eltham Palace, an NML. The owners had a pet lemur called Mah-Jongg who had his own room with bars on the front, and a trapdoor with a bamboo ladder that he used get in & out. The ladder ends conveniently close to garden doors.

Have a great time in Rhodes, @coastergirl, we’ll be looking forward to photos of the local NMCs.

I think the last time I was that close to a parakeet was when I was at the top of South London folly Severndroog Castle & there was one perched on a branch at my eye level.

I'm another one who loves Eltham Palace - I'd forgotten about their pet lemur though 😁

I love the way they decorated his cage to resemble a jungle, to make him feel more comfortable. Virginia Courtauld was quite a character I gather, and kudos to them for leaving the medieval parts near enough untouched. I love the other Tudor buildings around the palace too, wish some of them were open to the public but I gather they're privately owned.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/07/2025 12:28

Well, I'm still in London, and going to Mass at St. Bride's this evening, with DS1.
Not that we're RC, but the sung Mass there is lovely.

It's also essentially free, unless you count money for the collection

Actually, when Kitty and Grumpy and I met up at the tube station, and walked back to Kitty's house, it goes without saying that a very splendid NMC appeared. Grumpy claimed that this was proof that NMCs frequently appear wherever he goes.

The NMC (who rather resembled Kettle) saw us all get out our phones, and immediately went and hid.

So there is no proof of this event.
🤣

Enjoy! St Bride's Fleet Street is C of E, but maybe there is another St Bride's?

(Yes I've spent far too much time singing in London churches)

You're right, of course. It's C of E.
(I've been a tub-thumping Baptist all my life.)
A dear friend, an organist, used to take me to St. Bride's when I lived in London.

I've been to IKEA today.
We now have a new and very apposite door mat.
And I spotted a very appropriate chair for a particular feline member of these threads.

Ooh cute! And when will this gift you've kindly bought for him arrive? 😆😜

HumanToCatBeasties · 20/07/2025 20:19

I've bought quite a few Boris doormats from IKEA. I made the mistake of buying one of the nice bristly ones with polka dots from the garden centre. I was very pleased with my lovely smart doormat, but Matilda seemed to think that it was a lovely alternative litter tray and weed on it twice. It's now in the attic (after being washed) no idea why, maybe if I buy a house with a porch I'll be able to use my lovely doormat.

EmpressaurusKitty · 20/07/2025 20:38

I thought about getting a tabby cat doormat but I don’t think I’d be able to bring myself to step on it.

Esgaroth · 20/07/2025 20:42

I think black cats do have an advantage when it comes to art and design. They are just very stylish.

Esgaroth · 20/07/2025 20:45

Kettle is upsetting me by leaning out of an upstairs window to chirrup at the birds on the roof. I don't know if he realises how much it frightens me but if he does he doesn't care.
