Well the Excellent cats are keeping vets in business today. I've just had to book Boris in for an emergency appointment as he's struggling to pee again.

Oh no. Hope that gets sorted quickly - it's been large bills for Basil twice now with those symptoms.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/07/2025 14:29

Well.

Linney had his appointment. All well.

Gizmo, however, had a hissy fit at the sight of his carrier, bit and scratched me, then ran off into the blue yonder.

I have just obtained some gabapentin from the vet for next time.
🤣

HumanToCatBeasties · 14/07/2025 14:34

Boris has been admitted to the vets again. Matilda is so far refusing to eat her gabapentin laced tuna. I might have to try and manually give her a capsule.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/07/2025 15:00

Sybil wolfed down her gabapentin/lick-e-lix combo.
Hopefully it will have kicked in when she goes to the vet for 4.30.

Keeping fingers crossed for Boris.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/07/2025 15:42

I'm sorry to hear about Boris @HumanToCatBeasties

And I hope all goes well with Sybil @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

Poor Boris, hopefully he will be home soon. How did it go with Lady Sybil @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats ?

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne somebody is being a soppy bugger tonight, pushing his head under my hand to get attention. He wanted to say hello to you (probably so he'd get more compliments, the big tart)

Hello Mr Lexter!

Here, have some Dreamies.

Thanks all for the concern about Sybil. She has wandering around like an amiable drunk all evening 🤣 and was very pleased by some roast chicken for her tea.
She has put a little bit of weight back on - we'll now await the blood tedt results.

<<<throws imaginary packet>>>

He says thank you as I replaced imaginary Dreamies with real ones. He is a fussy little monkey though. I bought some dried sprats for them, remembering how much my first cat used to love dried fish (albeit the smaller ones than sprats). They all refused to eat them. Vixie sucked one but then cast it away with her paw. The rest of them decided that they don't like their food to look like the creature it once was. My neighbour's cat luckily isn't so fussy.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/07/2025 13:21

Pleased to report that we've got Sybil's blood results back and all her readings are much better than last time.
Her kidney readings are still a little bit higher than they should be - but the vet seems fairly relaxed about that since she's not showing any other symptoms. Not convinced Sybil will be impressed by being referred to by the vet as 'an old lady' though - being just shy of 14 and a half. 🙀

stormsandsunshine · 15/07/2025 13:26

Hugs to all the cats needing vet care

RumNotRun · 15/07/2025 13:35

Great news about Sybil!

stormsandsunshine · 15/07/2025 14:00

If we do one of those DNA kits, do you reckon Stripey will turn out to be part sausage dog?

Maybe part boomerang? That's what that pose is called in this house.

There's also the hungry hippo where they lie in the loaf position but stretch the head and neck onto the floor. Penelope, the Persian that Toddler owns, often lies in the hungry hippo position.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/07/2025 15:41

Or part contortionist perhaps?

Esgaroth · 15/07/2025 16:42

Glad Sybil seems to be doing better!

How's Boris today, @HumanToCatBeasties ?

EmpressaurusKitty · 15/07/2025 21:07

Kitty sends her best wishes to Sybil, and is looking forward to being able to smell the Grumpycats on Friday.

I would suggest snake rather than dog tbh and I can hear her spine cracking from all the way over here 😂

Good news about Sybil. Her health, not the old lady bit.

Hopefully Boris and Matilda will have good news too!

Not something I expected to see written down 😂

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/07/2025 22:15

Presumably she'll be able to smell the Broon One and the White One, too.

Thank you to everyone who has given their best wishes to Boris. He's ok, but very miserable when I visited him at the vets. He has a catheter, drip and cone and he was being very feisty with the staff, which is very much not his usual character. Hopefully he will be home tomorrow.

Matilda was reasonably well behaved on her vet visit despite refusing to eat most of her gabapentin-ed tuna. The vet was unconcerned about the massive amount of furballs and fingers crossed she seems to have stopped now. She did get an antibiotic injection as one of her blood test results is still mysteriously low.

Very pleased to hear that Sybils blood test results were good Grumpy.

Breadcat24 · 15/07/2025 22:34

Poor cats!

Love to Boris, Matilda and drugged Sybil, Herbie I hope the hole in your head has healed

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/07/2025 23:54

Gizmo tonight, on being asked to get off the bed so that I could get into it.

Gizmo has such catitude, I love him.

Lex has been particularly cute and fluffy tonight.

Hopefully, but we thought those smells might be fainter having travelled all the way from Scotland.

I was slightly disturbed by that too 🤣🤣

Hope Boris is improved today and best wishes to all the other MN cats that are in the wars at the moment.

Edit - no idea why I've quoted @stormsandsunshine on this post
