I’m excessively excited that you are all meeting up in real life

If this was an Excellent Dogs thread, of course, we’d be meeting at a park & they’d be coming too.

Grumpy's photo actually included Sybil, but he says he's not bringing her.

I might bring Gizmo, to see if Gizmo recognises Grumpy.
🤣

We wouldn't need to bring a picnic, either.
There was a trending thread entitled DOG ATE OUR PICNIC recently. We'd just have to train one of our dogs to steal someone else's food.

I bet Gizmo would be scared of Kitty.

Grumpy and I are meeting at a tube station.

We have exchanged photos, to make this easier.

I've now challenged him to start a HOW OLD DO I LOOK post, so beloved of the seasoned Mumsnetter.

I thought you'd already met when Gizmo was exiled? Or was that Grumpy's ex NDN?

That was my ex NDN.

As an aside - needless to say Gizmo's old house has been empty since ex NDN left and the landlords seem to be doing nothing about selling it.

HumanToCatBeasties · 13/07/2025 18:00

Boris and Matilda have been enjoying the garden. Little does Matilda know that she's got an appointment at the vets tomorrow. I'm just hoping I can get her to take the Gabapentin the vet prescribed.

Grumpy and I spoke on the phone but did not meet.

Gizmo's dad brought Gizmo to Scotland. Gizmo travelled on the front seat, but not in a carrier. I was amazed when he was placed in his carrier and handed over. We were in a car park by a loch. Any other cat would've run off, but Gizmo was a good boy.

So have Linney and Gizmo.

Linney is having his usual Solensia and Gizmo is having his annual jabs. I also want the vet to look at one of his teeth. I wish her luck with examining him though.......

So has Sybil,
Back for her latest blood tests to see if her kidney function had improved. We'll be doing Gabapentin tomorrow too...
Fingers crossed her bloods have improved. She's in very good form at the moment anyway.

HumanToCatBeasties · 13/07/2025 18:14

I think Matilda's problem is related to earlier in the year when she had to go on antibiotics. The vet thought the infection might be caused by some furballs lingering inside her too long, so suggested some Furease paste. I've hardly had any furballs from her since, but I'd assumed they'd come out the other end instead. This week she's been averaging at least one largish furball a day all week, so there was definitely a backlog in there. I've asked them to take blood at the same appointment so I don't have to take her back twice, I'm going to ask if she needs a scan to check out what's going on inside. She seems fine otherwise, but it's very odd. I'm hoping we see Cat the vet again, although Cat the vet might be hoping not to see Matilda again after her behaviour last time.

HumanToCatBeasties · 13/07/2025 18:16

Oh and fingers and paws crossed that Sybil's results have improved @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

CatsonPollock · 13/07/2025 18:37

Good luck to all the excellent cats (and owners) visiting the vets tomorrow!
Solidarity. ✊🏻

RumNotRun · 13/07/2025 19:44

Fingers crossed for good results and good behaviour from all Excellent Cats, and good luck to the owners and vets involved!

Small (and very cute) furry thing rescued from Karl.
Successfully returned to the wild.

Any idea what it is @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats . As a city dweller I'm not sure what it is, but glad lives on.

I think he's a field vole. We do get quite a variety of rodents here.

Vole of some kind was my first reaction too.

It does look a bit soggy round the edges, presumably from Karl's ministrations?

Pianoaholic · 13/07/2025 21:09

Hope your meet up goes well!
I shall catch up with all the doings of excellent cats and their owners when I get back from holiday in a week.
Herbie is looking forward to his holiday in the cattery (I think, or maybe not).

Allegedly, voles taste nasty, hence still alive! Who knows, we used to get a lot of trophies, but none lately, - her ladyship is now 19.5 so has retired from all those shenanigans.

RumNotRun · 13/07/2025 22:45

I got a new ice cream maker yesterday and tried it out earlier (nectarine sorbet, bloody lovely!) but it made me think of the thread that was on here about shrew ice cream for cats. I think it may be in Classics, it was quite amusing. I don't think I want to make any though.

HumanToCatBeasties · 14/07/2025 08:10

Well the Excellent cats are keeping vets in business today. I've just had to book Boris in for an emergency appointment as he's struggling to pee again.
