Finlay from being a kitten has understood that when we put his slipper on the desk it means he can join us but only if he doesn’t interfere with Lego or work calls and meetings

Agatha has been all discombobulated today. Next door is having some work done, so there are lots of strangers around, plus it's noisy and dusty. She desperately wants to go nosing about, but is (thankfully!) too scared to go near the cement mixer or tile cutter. We had a nice 20 mins earlier with the grooming mits, though (one for me to use, one for her to chew), which calmed her down. And got a lot of fur off her! I think she can't be arsed to do it herself if I'm mug enough to do it for her.....

What's the difference between a coffee table and a cat tree?

He mainly lunges at them, misses and races away at top speed, before suddenly stopping and nonchalantly grooming his paws. So I think he didn't even want to catch it anyway and he doesn't even care, so there.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats You might have a chance of someone putting something edible next to you on a coffee table (as per other thread!)

My cats have been chasing flies this morning.

Snowcat is fascinated by the flies, butterflies and other insects that come to this oregano bush. She thinks she is invisible if she sits behind it. She spent a long time stalking a butterfly but (fortunately) didn’t manage to catch it.

Stripey is a much more effective killing machine and is pretty good at catching flies that come into the house. Luckily for the local wildlife she is still scared of the outdoors and won’t go much beyond the doorstep.

Lex is busy shouting at me. No idea why (probably for food but it's not time yet). I keep hreatening that I'll kiss his stupid face if he doesn't shut up. He does go quiet for a few seconds, then the shouting starts again.

Stripey has killed 3 flies in the last 5 minutes. She ate the first two, killed the third and the apparently realised that she doesn’t like the taste of fly. Snowcat is watching in awe.

Well done Stripey! I wish she'd teach my useless lot to catch flies.

One of my friends told me his cat spent a whole afternoon catching flies between her paws, but they always managed to get away. Apparently that didn’t bother her in the slightest.

Kitty watches bees on the catnip & doesn’t seem at all interested in catching them.

@EmpressaurusKitty sensible cat! I remember when I was a teenager we had a kitten who caught a bee. It stung him and his paw swelled right up.

She is now acting all cute on the bed. It is DH’s side of the bed so I hope she hasn’t left too many black hairs on his pillow

She’s very good at being cute.

We had a puppy once who ate a bee. He yelped and ran round and round the house and then drank all the water in his bowl.

He didn't do it again!

Lex is telling me off for asking why his ears are so big.

Gizmo is telling me off because he hasn't been fed for over an hour.

I'm 69 today! Yay me! But does Gizmo care?
