I wouldn’t be happy about that either @SpookyScarySkeletons.

Like we said, @NotMyCat, you have two cats.

Papergirl1968 · 02/12/2021 19:41

So glad DS is ok, Coaster.
Love that photo of Ivy being comforted by big sis.
And adorable photo of Paws making himself at home. Very brave of you to let him sleep on your pillow after he brought...er...unwanted guests in the other day!

I didn't so much let him as he clambered on the bed and plonked himself there Grin

Awww his tummy! Bless him.

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 03/12/2021 08:41

He is such a sweetie.

Supersimkin2 · 03/12/2021 08:42

Paws scores with ultimate sweetness - again. Trust you both slept well.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/12/2021 09:12

Ah - some glorious Paws photos Grin.

Finally managed to speak to the vet. He is leaning towards food allergies rather than infection as she did perk up with the steroids. Her bum is still leaking like crazy though and we have coined the phrase "watch out for Ivy Arse Juice!".

DH is off to pick up some anti inflammatories tomorrow (tablet giving will be fun!) and they are hoping for cytology results on Monday.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hypoallergenic food? I'm on zooplus now but there are so many options.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/12/2021 19:46

Most vet tablets can be crushed or the capsules opened. If you check the leaflet you might not have to pill her.

I was thinking of crushing, adding to something like kitten milk and using one of the calpol syringes from when the kids were young.

It's so hard though because the best position is sitting her on the table and holding her tight, but because I can't stand now I'm trying to do it either sat on the floor or on my knee on the sofa.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/12/2021 20:08

How about those cat soups or the yoghurt things in tubes? Lik e lix or something?

SpookyScarySkeletons · 03/12/2021 20:38

Yes she does like the lik-e-lix or "cat yoghurt" as I call them!

DH is nipping down to the vets in the morning to
Pick her meds up then calling at the big pet shop up our street for cat milk and cat yoghurt!

I just hope it makes her more comfortable. She has just been laid in my arms like a baby for the last 20 mins. Cannot feel my arm but she is happy so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Supersimkin2 · 03/12/2021 21:50

My neighbour’s got omnicrom. Nurse Lana going in tomorrow. She’s nearly CEV & all she’s got is a mild cold, which bodes well.

Capns been snoring in bed all day. Nice for him. Last night he stroked me to sleep, plumy tail rhythmically patting my face, grunty purr in sync to send me off. Most restful.

Allergictoironing · 04/12/2021 07:50

Presumably I don't have to remind nurse Lana to wear a mask & preferably gloves as well when she visits?

I don't know whether it's the local tracing partnership being pants, or an increase in positive PCR tests, but around triple the usual number of test & trace door knocks have been fobbed off on us in the last 3 days. There is no WAY me and one team mate can get through the 15 that arrived yesterday, spread all over a district around 370 square km, when we still have left overs from the last batch. Oh, and do our day jobs as well!

Excuse the rant, was supposed to be my weekend off but had to swap a day to a) represent at lights switch on in a town, and b) do bloody door knocks.

Cats very confused, was up at 6 & just taking a break from doing pre-door knock admin Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/12/2021 08:17

I’d wear glasses too Lana, eyes are portals of infection. I’m back to glasses with face mask.

I look like a muppet character.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/12/2021 08:31

I'd go a full face shield and a proper mask and hand washing.

The virus plays Russian Roulette.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/12/2021 09:02

In completely different news (and I hope nobody objects to me displaying a bit of non-cat parental pride), DS1 went for audition at the Royal College of Music yesterday for a postgrad two year course and was offered a place on the spot.
I suppose one day he may consider getting a full time job Grin
To balance this post, Basil was out last night,.
He came in this morning, jumped on the bed and happily shared with us the fact that he is rather damp Hmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/12/2021 09:15

Congrats Grumpy DS1!

Well done Basil!

Allergictoironing · 04/12/2021 09:32

Parental pride is A Good Thing, even for non-cats.

Knowing how floofy your cats are Grumpy, I can see that Basil being damp would involve quite a lot of water!

SpookyScarySkeletons · 04/12/2021 09:45

That's fantastic news @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats huge well done to your DS!

The lil-e-lix worked to get Ivy's tablets down. I crushed the pill up with two spoons then mixed it into a teaspoon of the cat yoghurt. She went crazy for it!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/12/2021 10:50

That’s wonderful news @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats. I don’t think any of us appreciated just how musical Mrs Grumpy is.
