Lovely news grumpy.

Supersimkin2 · 04/12/2021 11:09

MEGACONGRATS Grumpy!!! That’s incredible of DS1, such a rare and splendiferous achievement.

If it helps, I know several people who made a very good living after being ‘good at music’, that well known euphemism for ‘waiting tables’. One is chancellor of a university and the other one made a bomb in a band, bought a house not drugs, and is now a lawyer. My ex plays viola for a living and does fine.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/12/2021 14:09

Thanks all.
I only rarely talk about our sons outside our immediate friends/family , but it's fair to say that both are reasonably musical.

Some years ago when I was working in Manchester, DS1 came into my office because he was auditioning at Royal Northern. I introduced him to a colleague who responded:
'I've worked with you for three years, I know all of your cats names, I know what they get up to and I've seen pictures of them, but I didn't know you had children' Grin

TheLongRider · 04/12/2021 15:38

Congratulations to your DS @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats you must be immensely proud.

I passed my driving test yesterday at the grand old age of 47. I cycle everywhere, I even bring the cats to the vet in a cat box on the strapped on to my pannier rack. Now I can bring them to the vet in the car instead.

Your children's exceptional success is clearly down to parenting with flawless priorities.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/12/2021 15:46

Congratulations @TheLongRider. Do the cats like the car?

NotMyCat · 04/12/2021 15:47

Congratulations for DC and driving!
Absolutely vile weather here, howling wind and rain. I overslept so Ollie was cross and wanted to go out, that lasted about 30 seconds before he decided it was a BAD idea

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/12/2021 15:59

@TheLongRider
Brilliant - congratulations 👍
Should we now refer to you as TheLongDriver?

TheLongRider · 04/12/2021 16:09

The cats dislike going to the vet regardless of the method of transport. Thanks for the good wishes, now I can be a menace to society in more than one mode of transport.

Oh well done, Grumpy's D'S and to TheLongRider!

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2021 17:50

Matt would add his congratulations if he wasn't busy trying to fit his ample stomach on a radiator... Hmm

It’s a full time job isn’t it.

NotMyCat · 04/12/2021 18:54

Congrats Long!!!! I'm massively impressed - your home now includes 'personal pet chauffeur' as a member of staff, just like Russian billionaires.

I'm bursting for one of those electric scooters dealers round here use. Cap'n in a backpack, slot for coffee, the world is our oyster. For about 10 min till an uber slays us.

Be still my heart, lovely Matt looks so fudgesome....

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2021 20:26

Was that to Matt, Fluffy? It's a losing battle - I could barely lift him.
So happy to see Paws back and feeling secure enough to sleep there. It's wet and windy here tonight (West Mids). I wish all stray cats or those with neglectful owners could find somewhere warm and cosy to sleep.
Saw on the news today that all cats will soon have to be chipped by law.

Allergictoironing · 04/12/2021 21:16

Yes I saw that Papergirl, totally agree with it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/12/2021 21:18

Yes. Poor Matt. It’s his winter fur Wink

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2021 21:33

His winter fur! Yes of course, why didn't I think of that? And he's big boned. Like me... Hmm

Supersimkin2 · 04/12/2021 22:16

I'm a martyr to winter fur.

NotMyCat · 04/12/2021 22:31

Ollie would like me to know he went for a wee, and he has litter on his head

The terrible twosome have been birdwatching together most of this morning! They have their eyes on a magpie...

Had a visit from parents yesterday. They still can't tell the girls apart??? Boggles my mind.

Every time they visit little Betsy (who is the most unaffectionate cat in the world) suddenly becomes loving and adorable rubbing against them and standing up on back legs to get more head strokes! What is that all about??

Ivy is feeling much better after starting the steroid tablets. She is laid asleep on my knee and has been leaving her bum alone at last!

waves to Ollie! Betsy does the same with the litter on her head 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2021 11:39

I could understand people not being able to tell the Persians apart as we had three and they were all white but one of yours is longhair and the others shorthair so it’s not hard is it?

SpookyScarySkeletons · 05/12/2021 11:59

Exactly @Fluffycloudland77!! I know they do have almost identical colouring but it's hard to confuse the fur explosion with the silky girl.

At one point DM came out with "couldn't you have done what your sister did and chosen a different colour cat?" 😂😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/12/2021 13:08

Yes, why can’t you be more like your sister 😂 she’d never buy twin cats.

You can borrow Puddy next time to make it triplets. She’ll be easy to tell apart as she’ll be hiding under something.
