Lots of cuddles! Ollie was so cross I left him, I had to put the footstool next to my desk and he's slept there all day. After he sat ON my laptop and muted my customer

Glad Ivy is safe home SpookyScarySkeletons! Hope her recovery is quick now they have found the right antibiotic.

coastergirl · 02/12/2021 00:51

Hope all the cats are ok.

I'm sat in A&E with my six year old. Blue lighted here a while ago. Looking like he's ok. What a day!

nettie434 · 02/12/2021 04:21

Everything crossed that your six year old is ok Coastergirl!

Oh gosh that sounds scary! How is he now?
coastergirl · 02/12/2021 10:15

He's ok, thank you. He had a scary combination of symptoms that looked like meningitis. Thankfully not though.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 02/12/2021 10:25

Oh thank goodness!

Ivy is back downhill today. She won't go out, still eating and drinking but the pus is back already and she has just scooted a lovely brown stain across my cream carpet. They won't start her on antibiotics until the samples come back though.

Much as I love the cats this really puts things into perspective - hope your son is feeling better Flowers

Betsy is being a very good little sister and is holding Ivy's paws for comfort.

“Can I have your blankie if anything happens? And the mousie that squeaks?” I’ve had drs refuse to prescribe when there’s clear signs of tracking & their quite calm about it while I’m literally having kittens waiting on pathology. Can you get her any cat supplements for convalescing cats? I’d imagine she’s not eating as well as usual and she’s just had a GA so she’s fasted too and burnt off excess flubber.

Big relief for you @coastergirl. There’s no peace of mind with kids is there.

Oh good thinking! I will have a look now for some suitable supplements. Thank you ❤️
Fluffycloudland77 · 02/12/2021 12:41

I don’t if cats go into a catabolic state like we do but it’s a mammal so they might.

I’ve been looking into enhanced recovery programs for dh when he has surgery.

coastergirl · 02/12/2021 14:15

Thanks for all your thoughts. He's doing remarkably well now. Kids are bloody scary at times. He was fine yesterday morning, then really not fine after school. Anyway, all good at the moment.

Poor ivy. That photo is adorable though.

nettie434 · 02/12/2021 17:18

Good news that it's not meningitis Coastergirl. It was the right decision to go to A&E.

Poor Ivy! My friends let their cat have lick e lix when he is on medication as he is very non compliant with antibiotics etc. He recently had them by injection after he was bitten by a squirrel/rat/something. That worked a lot better. Perhaps Ivy will be able to have an injection once they have worked out which antibiotic she needs.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 02/12/2021 17:36

@nettie434 they gave her a long acting injection last time as she is a nightmare to get tablets down so fingers crossed they can do that again.

I've spoken to the vets and said she is back to how she was before today. They said the bacteria cultivation tests can take a week so I'm waiting on a call from the vet who treated her yesterday to see if there is anything else we can do in the meantime. I can't stand the thought of her suffering like this for another week!
