Leroy always gets a treat after being brushed. I figured it was a good way to accept the groom even if he didn't necessarily like it. The longer and more thoroughly he lets me brush him, the more Dreamies he gets.

Downside is he asks to be groomed... 🤦🏼‍♀️
@AlfonsoTheMango I can almost guarantee you will have a furry overlord by the end of this thread 😂
I devoutly hope so. I am looking for a tuxedo boy - not too old - so if anyone knows of one such feline looking for a home in London, please let me know!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/07/2021 14:05

Not a boy but found this one at Battersea Alfonso

cricketmum84 · 06/07/2021 14:21

Aww she is gorgeous!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/07/2021 14:24

She is, isn't she?
I have a very positive biased view of Battersea cats Grin.

Defiantly41 · 06/07/2021 15:56

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats why did you make me go to the Battersea site ...? I want them all, although I think Wilma must be the long-lost twin of @cricketmum84's Betsy www.battersea.org.uk/cats/wilma?filters=true&centre=&gender=&size=&ageRange=&status=&liveChild=&liveDog=&liveCat=&breed=&reset=&id=7050366

AlfonsoTheMango · 06/07/2021 16:40

Thanks, Grumpy! Will definitely give her some thought...

Defiantly41 · 06/07/2021 16:41

@AlfonsoTheMango I think @thecatneuterer works with Celia Hammond rescue, and might have good advice?

Thanks! Excellent advice. Will try them.

thecatneuterer · 06/07/2021 17:40

@AlfonsoTheMango Tell me what you're looking for and I'll find you some candidates:)

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2021 17:52

Well Puddy got really distressed being boxed so I cancelled the vets. I think she thought I was getting rid of her 🥺.

She’s had a chew stick as compensation & is napping flicking her tail.

Oh, you are a star! A tuxedo boy, not too old, please. I'm very particular about the facial markings - a white blaze in the centre of his face with most of his face being black.

I'll know it's the right cat when I fall in love with their photograph.

I have a small back garden and I am willing to have a cat flap put in the patio door. There is a guest bedroom where the cat can sleep undisturbed and a guest bathroom for a litter tray. I still have lots of toys from my old cat. Happy to feed him wet and dry food according to his preferences.

I don't have children, dogs, other cats etc. Will work from home part-time when life starts to return to normal.

Thank you!

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 06/07/2021 17:59

@Fluffycloudland77 no, the second pair of cats are not mine but come to the house on a daily basis.

Oneeye has got sick looking lately and I'm trying to get his trust, no one knows who owns him according to local FB but when I get his trust I'm prepared to lose it again with a trip to the vets for him.

Sandy is my friends cat who visits often too and has come in the window and lay on my bed several times, we only live 4 doors apart but you don't try petting her, I still have the scar where I absent minded put my hand out to stroke her and she retaliated, very well cared for but she is a bully to everyone. At least she is fair.

The first two are mine and are absolute softies and are cuddled by the neighbourhood children. They are moggies, not sure about the NMCs but hopefully when I get oneeye to the vets I can ask for their opinion.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2021 18:03

Oh poor one eye.

Photo of sad Puddy.

Well if you want a tuxedo, just come and sit in my garden until Ollie brings you one Grin
Today there is a fluffy ginger and white cat, no photos as Ollie chased it off for being the "wrong colour" Hmm

As soon as the rain stops I'll be on my way!

@AlfonsoTheMango ahhhh - looks like I spoke too soon. I think you might be waiting a very long time if you are going to be so specific about looks/markings. The most important thing from a rescue's point of view is will the potential cat match the new owners' requirements from a personality point of view. Luckily you don't need a particularly streetwise one, nor one that's good with children or dogs, nor an indoor only one. However I'm guessing you do want a friendly and not nervous cat? You will also need one that's happy to be an only cat and I'm guessing you don't want old nor with existing conditions. Your perfect cat from a personality point of view may turn out to be tabby, or black or ginger .... and you might see one with the 'right' markings but it's very nervous or wouldn't be happy being left once you go back to work.

All I can suggest is that you keep an eye on nearby rescues (I'm guessing you're in London?) Here is the homing page of the branch I'm with www.celiahammond.org/canning-town/index.php/animals-needing-homes/canning-town-london and you can find other rescues here: www. catchat.org

cricketmum84 · 06/07/2021 19:12

Not trying to be argumentative but I wouldn't be looking for a specific colour/markings.

A cats colour tells you nothing about their personality.

You would be better going to a rescue and meeting some potential furry friends and seeing which ones you bond with.

Rescues also can get pretty arsey if you specify exactly what colour and markings you want.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2021 19:38

Some people have an ideal though. B&W with a bandit mask?.

Pretty sure dh wasn’t attracted by my personality.

Lol I'm pretty sure that when my DH was looking for a partner he didn't imagine a chubby, anxiety ridden, cat obsessed wino 😂😂 but that's what he got!
Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2021 19:46

Subconsciously, he did.

JoanOgden · 06/07/2021 20:11

When I was looking for a cat I particularly fancied a tortoiseshell, or a black and white... but the rescue I spoke to had a pure black cat for whom my flat and life were perfectly suited, and now I can't imagine having another cat.

NotMyCat · 06/07/2021 20:18

I looked for one that had to be indoor. Ollie was the first I saw and I thought "he seems sweet and no trouble, and he's FIV so indoor"
Little did I know GrinHmm

cricketmum84 · 06/07/2021 20:26

When I went to get Betsy the rescue had called to say I was top of the waiting list and they had 2 female kittens ready to go.

When I got there they had a little angelic tabby kitten (I swear she almost had a halo). And then they had this hissing spitting bundle of black and white fluff that bit everyone who tried to touch her.

Obviously I went for the mental one 😂

Allergictoironing · 06/07/2021 21:15

I wanted older, cuddly, lap cats. I brought home a pair of 2 year old ex-ferals. They are the best thing that's happened to me.
