I'll just eat the contents of the fridge! It's like having a hangover with no consumption of alcohol.

My own cat has been glued to me since I got home. I desperately need a shower and it's still over 20C here and he's a very fluffy cat. It's like having an extra warm blanket permanently on top of you. I still love him though...

I'm extraordinarily impressed by your ride.

How often do you do these insane feats of endurance?

TheLongRider · 17/07/2021 06:36

I usually do at least a 200km ride once a month. The longest ride I've ever done was London-Edinburgh-London 1,400km over 5 days in August 2017.

It's a great way to see the country. Ireland is pretty rural with lots of quiet small roads. From Dublin I can head south in the Wicklow Mountains or West into the bog lands of the Midlands, North into the market gardening/arable farmlands, East would be into the sea!

I started doing long-distance (Audax) cycling eight years ago, it's a great way to avoid parenting. As a middle-aged woman I decided I wasn't finished with my body yet and I wanted too see what else it could do.

I am the Mumsnet cliche of the spouse with a "hobby" that takes them out of the house all day. Grin

Anyway, back to cats... I could bore for Ireland about cycling.

Get you!!! I’m insanely proud of you. As are all the cats. Bet you triumphant today

coastergirl · 17/07/2021 08:43

@TheLongRider that is seriously impressive!

Oldraver · 17/07/2021 08:46

Very impressive @TheLongRider, I have to have a rest and shower after the couple miles to town and back on my sit up and beg bike

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/07/2021 10:29

Bloody hell @TheLongRider that is seriously impressive! Last time I rode a bike I couldn't sit down for two hours 😱

Brought Leroy out earlier today. I thought we'd get out before it got too hot. I was wrong ☀️🔥🥵

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2021 10:55

I’m having a sit down after vacuuming up all of Puddy Bears fur. I’m classing my blister as an industrial injury & looking for laminate floor offers.

Papergirl1968 · 17/07/2021 11:29

That’s more than 189 miles, TheLongRider! Shock
I’m speechless. To say well done seems a bit of an understatement. Hope you can spend the rest of the weekend chilling with Cake - you certainly have earned it.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/07/2021 11:31

Doesn't work. It makes the fur even more obvious as it gathers in huge clouds and rolls around like tumbleweed...

Sorry.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2021 11:42

I have a robo hoover though. Downstairs is fur free thanks to Sebastian’s tireless efforts.

Every cat owner needs a robo hoover.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/07/2021 11:50

Every cat owner needs a robo hoover.

I have a kid though. Admittedly probably less thorough than a robo, and probably more expensive to run, but he's here so he may as well be of some use 🤷🏼‍♀️

😂

TheLongRider · 17/07/2021 12:21

We have laminate floors, five cats and a robo hoover. It's the best thing we've ever had. We have a Miele cat & dog for carpets and upstairs.

@TheLongRider & @Fluffycloudland77

Does a robo hoover get all the fur that collects round the bottom of the radiators and in the corners?

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2021 13:31

Corners not so great. My roads are wall mounted but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work.

TheLongRider · 17/07/2021 14:09

It gets most of it. It definitely sucks up the dust bunnies from under the sofa. Ours is a Rudy and if it died tomorrow we'd get another one.

Eufy

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2021 14:19

Mines a Eufy. They do discounts of £40 if a friend refers you, I bet someone on mn would have a code.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/07/2021 14:35

Sadly I'd need more than £40 off. I need a sob story and a GoFundMe page 😄

NotMyCat · 17/07/2021 15:27

@YesItsMeIDontCare I can lend you Ollie with one TOOF sad face. He's currently glaring at the sun for having the audacity to be warm

Toddlerteaplease · 17/07/2021 22:14

If you are lending Ollie out, can I have him?

I hate my laminate floor with a passion. Desperate to go back to carpet downstairs! I'm forever sweeping, mopping and hoovering it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2021 22:26

It’s horses for courses isn’t it. I’ve even got hard flooring on the stairs. Puddy runs up & loses grip on her back legs on the landing before swerving into her lair.

NotMyCat · 17/07/2021 22:27

@Toddlerteaplease he's mostly flopping about complaining about the heat so yes! Also he doesn't like any food at the minute except roast chicken and milkshake

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/07/2021 23:14

D'you think Ollie could do a sad enough face to get me a new FitBit too?

Leroy's expression could probably get people to hand over cash, but in fear not pity!

NotMyCat · 17/07/2021 23:16

I've instructed him to get practicing
