I’m finally going to get a cat!

My partner and I want a dog and a cat, me more so cat, and him more dog. I’ve finally made him realise a cat is the sensible first choice with our lives right now. We’ve signed up with the local rescues, looking for a young adult cat and I am so fucking excited. I’ve owned cats before but from a young child, anything I should get I haven’t thought about? Can I see your cats just to get me more excited? I’m genuinely over the moon

Oh well done!. Cats are more advanced than they were, they can open doors and drawers. They are evolving 😀

Hooray so exciting to get a new kitty. Lucky you. This is my cranky old bat Buns who is 19. She is in the bath washing her paws as she trod in poo lol. Get cat insurance, she has cost my insurance several grand over the years but I love the old girl :-)

Yey, an adult rescue is the best because you can pick the best personality! Mine was an ugly bugger but when I went to the rescue centre I crouched down to say hello and she just climbed right onto my leg 😍

Love the idea of a cat called Turnip, he definitely looks a character .

I think turnip looks like a character! I saw my cat online for adoption and fell in love with him. I enquired about him and within a few days l found myself at the centre collecting him so it all happened very fast! Fingers crossed for turnip!

I bet Turnip has some stories he could tell (if he could speak). A lot of those battered looking boys are often huge softies.

I went to the rescue with a strict list of what I wanted... the complete opposite picked me. She is the best thing I have ever done. I adore her. She is an absolute loveable knob quite frankly! Maybe get a few smaller food options in for the selective tinkers x

Oh Turnip looks adorable! You've definitely made the right choice in choosing a cat. I wouldn't be without either of my 2. In fact my big boy is yowling at me to come stroke him while he eats to protect him from many many dangers in our kitchen

Mine definitely chose us at the shelter. I was there with 2 of the dc, who were being mental and loud and we looked at a few kittens etc then we saw this 5 month old, noisy sod who waltzed out of his cage and came to say hello. He hasn't shut up since and has always been wonderful with the children. It's quite amusing as when we got him dc3 was very young so while he would bat the others if they annoyed him he just let dc3 get on with it and tolerated being carried around the house with a resigned expression on his face. Now dc3 is older than the others were when we got the cat but the cat still let's him get away with murder.

This is Cordelia. I've had her since she was six weeks old. She's still very playful and will be 16 in May.

Mine turned on the patio in a bit of a state. Half starved and covered in ringworm. He'd been hunting to feed himself and needed worm treatment and a course of antibiotics. For scale, those are 12 inch tiles.
