At the vet. Again. Trying v hard not to panic and failing miserably Sad

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/12/2020 12:26

D'you think it's Paws' choice or d'you think he'd rather have a home? I know there was no way Barney would move in, but we all officially took responsibility for him.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/12/2020 12:27

Sending (((hugs))) Just. We so desperately want to fix them don't we.

Supersimkin2 · 02/12/2020 12:51

Keep the faith @Justonedayatatime11. We're all with you in spirit. Flowers

coastergirl · 02/12/2020 13:56

Hugs just. It's an awful feeling.

Papergirl1968 · 02/12/2020 14:11

Aww Just thinking of you x

TheLongRider · 02/12/2020 15:35

Flowers Just.

Justonedayatatime11 · 02/12/2020 15:54

Nobody seems to know what's wrong with her Sad. I've got a quote here for the best part of £700 to redo all the tests she had in March, so abdominal scan, chest x ray and FIP testing. The option for a referral to a specialist at £300, but they'll probably just say they need to run further tests as well. I've already paid out nearly £5000 this year after Petplan screwed me over and it couldn't come at a worse time. Her breathing is laboured, her temp is normal, she hasn't lost any weight although she's very much off her food and the vet today did say there are signs of gum disease you wouldn't expect to see in a cat who's not yet 2. But at the same time, she's purry, using her litter tray, drinking and eating (albeit mostly dry food) and still alert and looking for a fuss.
I can't bring myself to even consider having her PTS without being 101% certain that it's the best option.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/12/2020 15:57

Oh bollocks.

Defiantly41 · 02/12/2020 16:14

Oh, Just. Did you escalate your complaint about PetPlan to their Chief Exec? The Ombudsman?

Neither of which will help right now, I'm so sorry. Have they considered treating for whatever is most likely without testing (eg antibiotics for chest infection?) . If it's not actively harmful to her of course

Justonedayatatime11 · 02/12/2020 16:36

Defiantly41 I did and it's currently with the Ombudsman, has been for a couple of weeks but I've heard nothing from them yet. She's already had a 2 week course of antibiotics and is on a daily painkiller

Papergirl1968 · 02/12/2020 21:42

I’m sorry, I have no advice other than it doesn’t sound like she’s suffering so give her a couple of days and see if she picks up.
It sounds like the vet is mystified too. I wonder if it might be her heart?

coastergirl · 02/12/2020 21:43

Oh just it's so hard. I completely understand about not pts until you're absolutely sure nothing more can be done. That's why I was so grateful to our vets for consulting the big clinic in Manchester about Bertie. I'm still heartbroken and have so much guilt about some things, but I absolutely know that once he was sick, everything was done for him. All my thoughts are with you and Darcy.

nettie434 · 02/12/2020 23:05

Sending my most powerful 'get well soon' thoughts to you and Darcy Just. And to you QueenPaws. Hope those antibiotics get working asap. Paws is lucky to have you and Ollie. Thank goodness he has somewhere to go when it is cold.

coastergirl · 02/12/2020 23:45

Lots of stress here tonight. My 5yo is back into isolation from school as his TA has covid. Last week the baby picked up a cold at nursery and passed it to me and his brother. Baby is now with his dad and well on the mend. Me and 5yo started with the cold and were coughing a lot. As I had a colleague who really thought she had a cold but then tested positive, I got us both tested yesterday. No results yet. Roll on 6pm today, 5yo said he was cold and his head hurt. Checked and his temperature was 38 (he's like me and normally runs cold). Gave calpol and his tea and went to bed. Checked at 11 and his temperature was 39! Stressing a bit now. I've given more calpol and will check in an hour.

To keep it cat themed...Walter has been sleeping on my lap all night and he's so bloody hot! He was twitching in a dream, bless him.

Oh Coaster. Just what you didn’t need. Look after yourselves.

TheLongRider · 03/12/2020 07:42

Hopefully it's just another normal winter bug but it's still horrible to get through.

Justonedayatatime11 · 03/12/2020 10:51

ThanksCakeWine coastergirl I haven't forgotten, just haven't made it to the post office yet this week
