New thread!
I’ve found two so much more hard work (and expensive) than one, Queen

Ohh, yes, Nurse Lee!
I had high hopes for you two! 😻

He didn't stay last night. Has just banged on the window, come in, eaten all the food and gone back out again. Ollie woke up long enough to eye roll and went back to snoring

Something did happen with NL. Or bloody nearly until I found out about his, er, homing arrangements. Safe to say that for a fortnight I considered using another vet. Gin

The funny thing is that it all kicked off the week I got Capn V as I wanted NL to give him the onceover. But I am so glad I ended up with Capn V not a norty hooman. That's valuing yourself.

As Capn V pointed out, who needs that sort of distraction when you've got 15lbs of ginger fur mewing for a snack.

You know you have to tell now, or at least give us a BIT more info! At the mo my thoughts are ranging around Gay, "open" partnership, BDSM....

Ohhh! (Puts kettle on and waits for next instalment)
And for a moment there I thought Queen was talking about a man rather than Paws!
I was thinking last night actually about how I’d rather have a cat than a man.

You are right @Papergirl1968.

This is the internet, guys, limits and all that. He's definitely not gay.

Mr C would say he had the morals of an alley cat.

And that’s an insult to alley cats. How disappointing Sad

What a pity Sad, had great hopes for NL previously. At least with Capn V you don't NEED the services of someone like NL to get any treatment he needs; Mr C wasn't the easiest of cats to deal with.

Thanks so much, you and @Fluffycloudland77 made me feel miles better. Now, it's fiiiine Grin

I am so thrilled to have Capn that I have forgotten it all. Last night the belly was offered. This am I flew to Sainsbury's in 'relaxed' attire to get him some more Dreamies which he is naturally now refusing to eat Grin

Tip: if, like me, the temptation to step out in style to the supermarket in yr PJs can be too much, get XXXXL pjyamas that fall down when you walk. I have to get dressed, turns out.

What's everyone up to today bar the punishing petcare shift? @Allergictoironing how is your pain doing.

Pain not too bad today - saw my incredible chiropractor on Friday who also did deep tissue massage on the shoulder area (as recommended by the consultant) so muscles much more relaxed. I also got to fuss her gorgeous slightly oversized (tall, not fat) Doberman & year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, which always makes for a good trip.

Boycat forgave me for V.E.T. trip within 2 hours, a record. Lovely nurses insisted on carrying the 6kg panther to my car for me once they saw I was struggling a bit.

First operation this Thursday - unfortunately not the shoulder, but the cyst aka George that is snugly nestled between my ribs. Asda delivery booked for the day before, including loads of goodies for the DSis who is taking me and keeping an eye on me while I get over the GA.

Lana, I went into M&S at about 6.30pm on Friday after dropping dd at the cinema.
It’s rare for me to go in the evening and I was hoping for an abundance of yellow stickers. Nope, it was a wasteland apart from two packs of half price ham.
What did I do wrong? Was it too early?
Thank goodness for Morrison’s, whose free range chicken thighs were yellow stickered on Friday, and I’m sure will still be fine to eat today!

M&S vary the times of the yellow stickers of happiness because otherwise people wait for them.

Some people Grin

But I reckon that will stop, because the issue of food waste is now trendy and yellow sticker is a no-brainer for shops.

Thighs are so much the best bit of a chook, aren't they.

Allergictoironing · 08/03/2020 17:40

Don't have an M&S close enough to just drop into (nearest is Bluewater), but I do peruse the yellow sticker shelves at both Asda & Morrisons on a regular basis. However I never buy anything because at best they have maybe 20% off Sad. I've tried at all times of the evening, between 6 and 11pm. Maybe with the Asda it's because they are 24 hour except Sat/Sun?

Thighs definitely the best bit. More flavour, and nicely moist Smile. I usually slow roast them in a covered pan with a bit of stock & sprinkled with chicken seasoning, then uncover for the last 20 mins to crisp up the skin. Boycat really likes those.

Yes, I prefer chicken thighs or legs really to breast meat.
I won’t buy yellow sticker foods unless there’s a decent discount. I got some bags of six packets of crisps for 50p from Morrison’s the other week. And a few of those giant Bourbon biscuits also in Morrison’s for 15p each.
Glad to see Paws is around, Queen.
Socks disgraced herself last night by wiping her dirty backside across the (thankfully wooden) floor. Matt’s face clearly said Confused silly Socks, you’re supposed to do it all in the litter tray!

Capn V did that with every sign of enjoyment. I put that enzyme stuff on the stripe and he's not repeated the performance.

I am in admiration of the reduced crisps. And Paws' menu choices. This is my fave thighs recipe:

  • reduced thighs
  • reduced crisps (ready salted)
  • butter
  • grainy mustard.

Thinking of Nurse Lee, smack packets of crisps sharply till they break up a bit. [Open them first or they explode everywhere.] Mix into oz of butter and couple of tbsp moutarde. Apply to top of thighs. Bake 35 min.

Crunchy, delish, goes with mash or baked pots. You can put greens in so it at least looks less fattening than it is. Especially when you get an extra topping because the cat only likes a bare thigh.

Woken this morning by a 7kg ball of orange fur flying in an arc over the bed. Landing on my back and screaming for food.

Sunrise! He's getting more confident. Someone went for the walnut cake in the night.

Must admit Boycat is very polite when he wants to wake me up in the mornings. He jumps off the windowsill onto the bed & walks carefully round my legs, then stands next to me STARING into my face. If this doesn't get me moving, he wanders off back onto the windowsill until I do stir & then repeats.

One of mine (no idea which) tends to drag one of my boot type slippers around the living room overnight. No damage so far Smile

They are firmly shut out of the kitchen at night. Not because they steal food, they never do that, but ever since the incident with Boycat & the carrier bag.

In case I forget AllergictoIroning, good luck with your op on Thursday. Is it day surgery or will you be in overnight?

Day surgery under GA. They did have a go using a local, but George has embedded himself so deeply they couldn't get him out because of the pain (I was on the limits of what they could give me of the local). Luckily I have a fantastic tolerance to GA, and will be back to normal within 4-5 hours max. Morning job, so will be home hopefully soon after lunch depending on where I am on the list for that day. Lovely DSis is taking me, so I have laid in loads of her fave goodies Grin

He returned about 5 mins later with paws trailing behind him Grin
