Come one, come all to the Olli et al. appreciation thread.

Mr C has started wheezing again. Give me strength.

On the upside, might see Nurse Lee tomorrow. Not in my skimpy lace nightie, Spart (good plan tho Grin).

Mr C will only come off the chaise longue for M&S ham.

Aldi ham left pointedly in dish.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/05/2019 11:07

Mr C = Mr Naice Ham

Those of you who have not been to the thread about Next Door's Thug Cat are missing out btw.

Supersimpkin · 22/05/2019 20:13

I am awaiting Asbo's appearance on Psycho Pussies Vol 2, currently showing on Channel 5. Gripping Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/05/2019 20:31

I didn’t want the publicity.

YesQueen · 22/05/2019 20:36

Ollie was watching it with his paw over his eyes "they MEAN cats, mama"

Supersimpkin · 22/05/2019 20:38

YetAnotherSpartacus Now obsessed with TC, clearly Asbo's long-lost younger brother.

Fluffy suggesting the innocent OP 'try a belly rub' was perhaps hardly responsible Grin Grin

Allergictoironing · 22/05/2019 20:41

Recording that, making the most of not being pestered while Girlcat sleeps off the latest session of belly strokes. My contract ended Friday, and they've just realised they have me all day at the mo and are demanding attention all their waking hours - not quite as bad as it sounds, as they sleep about 19-20 hours a day!

Trying to play a game on the PC this morning - little demanding squeaks coming from behind me. Give up for a bit & get led to the sofa where she laid on the back with belly showing, looking coyly over her shoulder at me in an irresistible way. Half an hour of belly tickling later, my arm starting to cramp because of the awkward position she insists me sitting in, I finally escape as she goes for a snack & lie down. Try to browse MN about 20 minutes later only to hear pathetic cries - yep, she's after tummy strokes again. Get this all day, interspersed with Boycat slithering up onto his end of the sofa and extending a looong arm towards me - roughly translates as "come here & cuddle me NOOOWWW!".

They are going to be well pissed off when they see me getting dressed up smartly for an interview tomorrow Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/05/2019 21:04

Asbo has a brother......but he’s also ten. You don’t know a cats views on belly rubs until you try.

Allergic Asbo was horrified to see my uniform going on on Monday morning.

Supersimpkin · 22/05/2019 21:39

Fluffy you are so right. After presenting me yesterday with a veritable cumulus of kiss-soft white fluffy tum, Mr C promptly de-gutted my arm.

I am dead proud of him, I thought he was too old to do any damage but it's a borderline stitches job.

Allergictoironing · 22/05/2019 21:41

Once they realised that me getting up to an alarm clock & dashing around meant I was going to be out all day, Boycat started following me round the house every morning crying. Took them WEEKS to get resigned to me working, now I'm going to do it to them again once I get a new job aren't I? Sad

YesQueen · 22/05/2019 21:48

You'll get a new routine. I have to sit on the bed before I leave, Ollie comes running in, jumps on the bed and we have cuddles. I leave and he goes to the spare room for a nap Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/05/2019 13:37

Goodbye, Judith Kerr.

Supersimpkin · 23/05/2019 15:05

RIP fine Mother of Mog.

I bet Judith is up on a cloud of belly fur, kitties galore rubbing against her shins as she gets used to wearing a halo a crowd of kittens is trying to pat off.

Supersimpkin · 25/05/2019 10:15

One M&S burger down, five to go. Double yellow sticker, Bank Hol bonanza.

Been reading Graham Oakley's The Church Mice series. Classic Cat Literature always a winner.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/05/2019 10:25

I've never heard of it! I will have to track it down.

Maybe I should be brave and start a favourite cat literature thread.

There is a book I am trying to track down. It was written for children, but 'older readers' and was old even when I found it in the 70s. I'm sure it involved a cat called Marmalade who lived as a gentleman cat and had adventures. It was from a well-known children's publisher who also did some Enid Blyton and other similar books. It was Hardcover and the cover was matt rather than glossy and the dominant colour was red. It's been driving me nuts!

Supersimpkin · 25/05/2019 21:53

ohh yes, I know..... forgotten the name, will come back to me. He had a family and 2 girls and a boy kitten? Sort of like the Pooters but cats, set in late Victorian times. V respectable, they went on hol to the sea in a charabanc once.

Papergirl1968 · 26/05/2019 00:23

You're not thinking of Orlando, the Marmalade Cat series? I just googled it and some of those have red covers, and one is about a holiday.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/05/2019 08:22

I don't think I am Papergirl ... unless there was a version of this published without pictures maybe with all stories in one? The book I am thinking of only had B&W line drawings and it was a small 'novel sized' book for older readers. Also, unless I'm wrong, I remember Marmalade being a bachelor kitty no mention of whether he'd been fixed.

Supersimpkin · 26/05/2019 09:25

Orlando was the hero of the ones I'm thinking of. Genius you are Paper.

Orlando does have kittens, one is naughty. Mrs Orlando is a fussy PFB Mumsnet Mum.

I'm having the menopause so hotly Mr C is refusing to kip with me. Hops up for midnight treat, down in one, hops off. Am bereft. Mind you, last night he curled himself round my head and wrapped tail round neck (lovely, like a stole) for a rumbly purr.

Woken by the usual flailing claw. Some things never change.

AsleepAllDay · 26/05/2019 11:45

That your cat's name is Matt is so funny to me @Papergirl1968

Papergirl1968 · 26/05/2019 14:18

It was his name when we got him as a kitten from the RSPCA, Asleep.
As he seems to think he is one of the DC anyway, it suits him much better than a cat name like Fluffy or Tiddles. Nicknames are Matts, Matsie, Fat Matt, or Mattie Boo Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 26/05/2019 15:54

I loved Carbonel and Gobolino when I was a kid ( neither of them marmalade though)

Jaxhog · 26/05/2019 16:00

Chicken and cheese. Mostly cheese.

TheLongRider · 26/05/2019 16:18

Sunday afternoon tummy!
