What's your DCat up to today? (Thread 7!)

I wanted to reply to @EachandEveryone but thread number 6 is full! That cooling mat thing looks fab.

What is everyone's cat up to today?

Today I am 26 weeks pregnant and my cat Freya is communing with the baby. Mainly purring and gentle pawing in response to little kicks. I am hoping they'll be friends! Meanwhile Maisie is looking on disdainfully. She's in the huff because I tipped her out of the pregnancy dungarees, which she had commandeered as her personal nest.

What are your furry overlords all up to?

Not sure if I can visit as this vet is hands off no one can go in, though will ask to confirm. I was only in the queue outside for 5 minutes and when I went to the car he'd done his hiding under blankie

I know cats don't always show pain and He hasn't really. Though I noticed in the night he wasn't curled up like he does usually and IH said he flinched when he touched his tummy putting him in the basket.

Vet did say blood tests show he's had problems for a while but he didn't show any signs. They didn't have to catheterise as he peed but may still have too

Thanks for the thoughts

Oh good luck Ernie and you his devoted slave Oldraver.

nettie434 · 17/06/2020 17:57

Get well soon Ernie! Given the lack of a Dreamie emoji, I thought about using the biscuit emoji as a substitute but it might be misinterpreted.

Oldraver · 17/06/2020 19:37

Well vet says he's sitting up, eating and has I quote......been friendlier Grin

TheLongRider · 18/06/2020 23:54

How's Ernie today?

Alakazam8 · 19/06/2020 07:08

Posted on here a few threads ago about my cat. He is 3 years old and has recently started dribbling a bit when I stroke him or he has his evening cuddles Is this normal or should I get his teeth checked?

Ilovellamasandpenguins · 19/06/2020 07:16

A starling fell down the chimney - apart from soot on my ceilings and wall, this is what I first saw this morning

nettie434 · 19/06/2020 07:23

Grin That is the funniest photo Ilovellamasandpenguins. I hope it's not going to take ages to clear up.

Alakazam8 I don't know enough to offer any advice but I know there are lots of posters who will know if you start a separate new thread.

Ilovellamasandpenguins · 19/06/2020 07:27

Thanks Nettie

Alakazama8 - if your cat only dribbles when he has cuddles it’s probably a sign that he is very happy - is he purring at the same time. One of my cats does this and purrs so loudly I take it as a sign of utter pleasure. If he is eating fine, then I wouldn’t have thought it was his teeth.

Alakazam8 · 19/06/2020 07:50

Yes it’s when he is purring most loudly too. That’s great then and he’s certainly eating fine. That’s reassuring- knew someone would be able to help. Thanks so much

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/06/2020 07:54

@Alakazam8 I’d get his teeth checked anyway, they are good at hiding pain.

@Ilove I’d flannel him off, soots quite toxic.

Ilovellamasandpenguins · 19/06/2020 08:37

Thanks Fluffycloud - I just reread my post and i have put ‘this morning’ rather than ‘the morning’ - this happened a couple of weeks ago, sorry for misleading. I didn’t know soot was toxic, I did douse him with water (not happy).

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/06/2020 10:04

@Oldraver hope Ernie is doing ok?

Thought I'd post a picture of Lenny from this morning (I don't post pics of Lenny very often - he's not very photogenic 🙀)

Well good and bad news on Ernie

He is on a drip to push fluids through and he is peeing on his own and has started to eat. Vet said he clears his bowl last night and ate this morning so he is feeling better in himself

His x-ray showed an enlarged kidney which could be caused by backflow, but his blood results aren't coming down as much as they'd like, so they think he may of had problems before. He's having more blood tests tomorrow and we'll see where we go from there

Vet today said he may be in over the weekend.

But yes cats hide stuff well. I have a video from Monday if his chasing and playing with Dexter

DS's cat got chopped yesterday, vet relented as he was scaling the fence. DS also asked about getting his chip registered to him. He had the number in his passport but no details of the company

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/06/2020 11:02

Poor Ernie, he’s been keeping his cards close to his chest hasn’t he?.

Would it be easier for your ds to have the cat chipped again?. You can notes on the chip details to specify why there’s two chips.

Oldraver · 19/06/2020 11:27

Yes I told DS it probably would of been easier to get him rechipped. It would of been better to of done it while he was under but the cat is god damn chilled I reckon the vet could do it anyway.

There is the complication that he could of been chipped in Lithuania (where is owners are from)

KaterMurr · 19/06/2020 11:29

My cat woke me up at 1am miaowing and dropping a dead bird on the floor of my bedroom. I let her eat it for 5 minutes then binned the rest and cleaned the floor and went back to sleep.

She's semi-long furred and sweet as sugar but jumped up on the bed with pinkish neck fur from the blood! Sigh.

nettie434 · 19/06/2020 11:43

Poor Ernie, Oldraver. Hoping that now he's being investigated, they will come up with a treatment plan.

Want2beme · 19/06/2020 13:42

Another snooze. His life is exhausting.

Hope Ernie gets better very soon

EachandEveryone The way I would rationalise it to say that Daphne needed a new box so you were compelled to buy some shoes in order to get a box.

SpiritEssence · 20/06/2020 14:04
