What's your DCat up to today? (Thread 7!)

I wanted to reply to @EachandEveryone but thread number 6 is full! That cooling mat thing looks fab.

What is everyone's cat up to today?

Today I am 26 weeks pregnant and my cat Freya is communing with the baby. Mainly purring and gentle pawing in response to little kicks. I am hoping they'll be friends! Meanwhile Maisie is looking on disdainfully. She's in the huff because I tipped her out of the pregnancy dungarees, which she had commandeered as her personal nest.

What are your furry overlords all up to?

That look EachandEveryone Grin! He is clearly saying 'I am really disappointed in you. I expected better. You have really let yourself down.'

I suppose it is a slight improvement on the nest and more convenient than the car. Ernie looks so lovely though, even if he chooses rather odd spots to relax in.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/05/2020 12:41

You may need to rename your 'hedgehog' house.

Although it you called it 'the cat house' I'd expect Ernie to turn up his nose in disdain Grin

Oldraver · 26/05/2020 12:52

Funny thing is I wanted to calle Ern Reggie but was vetoed. So when we found a sleeping hedgehog (to be fair just under some leaves which didnt give much protection) we rushed out and bought the house and food/bowl

Of course the bloody ungrateful Reggie the hedgie never lived in it. Ern wasn't bothered with the tent I bought him

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/05/2020 14:49

Ernie!

Jayneisagirlsname · 27/05/2020 12:56

I was just about to pot on some cat mint I've grown. I left it unattended for approximately 10 seconds and came back to this ...

What could be better than a stoned grey cat?

Brilliant picture Grin

Oldraver · 27/05/2020 14:39

That is hilarious.

Ern was never bothered about his cat mint until a few weeks ago when he rubbed himself on the last few wispy bits. I cleared around it and it has come back to life.

His little ginger friend found it and was having a whale of a time while Ern looked on

Why do they always bat their toys under heavy kitchen appliances?

Luckily my new washing machine is flush to the floor, but I'm sick of having to hoick the fridge freezer out of place to rescue a beloved toy that one of my lot has batted underneath!

The grief and pathos is unbelievable! She sits next to the fridge looking totally miserable and bereaved. Just because her little catnip mouse has been pushed under the fridge (by her, I might add!!)

Anyway, she's OK now. I moved the fridge and reunited her with her beloved mouse.

She and her sister and brother and Mother have got a nice surprise coming tomorrow! I've ordered one of those cat water fountains off Amazon.

It's promised for delivery tomorrow. I hope they like it.

Will post photos of their reactions!

TheLongRider · 28/05/2020 15:27

Can you put a strip of something under the fridge freezer to block the gap? It could be mesh or something with holes if you need the ventilation. Sometimes a wire coat hanger is good for fishing out trapped toys.

I feel your pain. When we moved house we found a dessicated shrew corpse under the fridge amidst the toys.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 28/05/2020 15:33

I'm just wondering where best to put this trickling water fountain?

Kitchen? Downstairs hallway? Upstairs landing? Halfway-up-the-stairs landing?

I've got sockets everywhere, but nowhere I can think of seems a good idea Confused

Where do any of you have yours? Ideas, please?

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 28/05/2020 15:42

Yes, TheLongRider, that's a very good idea. I've actually got some plastic mesh type stuff left over from doing something in the garden! Thankyou so much!

Why didn't I think of that Confused

Too discombobulated by five cats 😺😼😾🙀😸

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 28/05/2020 16:02

Is this normal?

My other little girl splays herself out on the floor sometimes like a spatchcock chicken!

I believe it's called 'splooting', and a lot of Corgi dogs do it.

I've never had a cat who did it before, but her hips are OK according to the vet.

Do any of you have cats that do this?

TheLongRider · 28/05/2020 17:05

Yes, one of mine did the same position, especially when he was hot.

Want2beme · 28/05/2020 17:13

When hot, it's normalSmile

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 28/05/2020 17:20

Thanks! Good to know.

It just makes me cringe (and smile) when she does it Confused

Want2beme · 29/05/2020 00:35

Keeper of the ear buds at bed time.

As long as he doesn't chew them! Several of my cats love earwax.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 29/05/2020 10:03

I gave Sybil a timed box test this morning.

From placing the box on the kitchen table to Sybil occupation - 34 seconds.

All of my cats love earwax! Confused

It's bizarre!

Even if I only scratch my ear, Bluebell, particularly, is on the case, wanting to lick my fingers.

I wonder what earwax tastes of to cats?

Want2beme · 29/05/2020 12:57

All of my cats have loved earwax. I thought it was just me being a bit weird Grin

Is Sybil still in it or has she moved on to bigger and better boxes?

My girl enjoying some mid-morning sunshine.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 29/05/2020 13:01

Don't you just love it when your cat breaks off from having a wash and forgets to put his/her tongue away? 😻

They just sit there, staring into space with a rear leg in the air, and a little pink tongue showing between the lips.

I so wish I could be ready with my camera when that happens!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 29/05/2020 18:00

Typical! Just absolutely typical.

She's more interested in the bloody box, rather than what was delivered (for her) inside it.

@WheresThatCatGoneNow

There seems to be a preponderance of very attractive grey cats in boxes on this thread recently (hurrah!)
