The litter tray

I seem to have acquired a cat

I didn't like cats but then I turned into some kind of cat whisperer with my neighbours cats trailing after me and feral cats jumping in my lap
I have gone to the dark side and reserved a cat from cats protection Hmm
He's black and has FIV as well as being a flu carrier so he will be indoor cat. Obviously no sane person was going to take him. So yes, I'm off to buy half of the pet shop

He's on applaws at the moment and going to try a little chicken or turkey mince later today. He seems content enough - I know very little about cats but I'm sure common sense will get us there!

How is his sneezing today?

Every hour or so Smile

It's such early days. An immune system isn't going to turn round - if it does - in under 24 hours!

I seem to recall that Lone mentioned a senior American vet and researcher who had found that probiotics made a significant difference to animals who were immune-challenged such as flu victims. I think it was a guy called Mike Lappin.

I should say, though, that Fortiflora for cats is pretty expensive (I checked it out because I use probiotics myself and am pretty sold on them for humans) so with the best will in the world, it may not be for everyone.

See how it goes and come back here if any real issues. Fingers crossed for him.

Smile

How strange. He's the spitting image of my cat. Also called Ollie. Also from a shelter. He's lovely.

I figure it's like humans - some sneeze more often, some cough. Doesn't bother me as long as he's happy

He looks so much happier than he did in the shelter photos.

Stable cat is currently attached to me Hmm

Time to food shop then head home and hope Ollie hasn't trashed the place!

We are doing a quick trip to the V.E.T
He head bopped me and sneezed Hmm and it smells so they're going to give him a quick check as he may need more antibiotics. She said best to have him looked at

Good luck. Would that be the rescue vet or are you all on your own now?

Report
goodasitgets · 21/10/2015 17:41

He's staying under the same vet as all flu/FIV/sneezing goes on their account
Now just to get him in the carrier Grin

You're brave. How did it go? (Seniorboy simply won't take pills of any description - he has to get a long lasting injection.)

Report
goodasitgets · 21/10/2015 19:21

I wrapped some chicken slice around them, he looked at me like I was a complete freak, separated it, ate the tablet then the chicken Hmm

Grin

You never have trouble getting them back in the carrier.

He loves you already, that's one happy cat.

Why didnt you like them originally?. A lot of people dont like cats from what I see.

I didn't really have contact with them so it was more not being confident with them? And worried about being bitten/scratched
Always had dogs so more of a dog person

He just ate his tablet? Shock He's either so completely on his best behaviour that it defies belief - or he's plain weird.

Report
goodasitgets · 21/10/2015 19:30

Yep (I'm laughing) Grin
He put it on the floor, pushed the chicken off it, and ate the tablet and chicken separately Hmm

But in the right order! Grin

He is exceedingly tolerant. I have never put a cat in a carrier before and I just sort of backed him in. Didn't bat an eyelid at the vets either Confused

I find dogs more unsettling because I cant read their body language well, Cats I can read.

Did he eat the tablet then the chicken because the rescue had trained him to? Or am I confusing cats and dogs.
