Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

I have resisted the temptation to discuss the 'Constipated Turkish Kitten' thread with DH. He would be Hmm x10000 Grin

Seriously even my ears are itching! Does that mean I'm coming into money or that someone is talking about me?

Are you speaking to her in both languages 3? Grin

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 20:14

Lol of course the earlier you start the easier it is for them to pick up other languages later.

You probably have to keep her bi-lingual and celebrate all Turkish holidays. If you dont cat social services take her off you and give her to a Turkish family to look after.

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 20:16

She's awake I'm going to commence rubbing. Wish me luck!

Come on Coco. Xxxxxxxxxx

SecretSquirrel193 · 06/05/2012 20:21

Start looking for a vet who will do a pet passport too - if you plan to move and take her you need to get her jabbed as soon as she's old enough

Astr0naut · 06/05/2012 20:21

Have been following this thread, along with dh.

Have just flipped to a wedding thread and dh is now Hmm at MN. His words: "From kitten care to wedding dresses. Is there anything you can't ask MN?"

Northernlurker · 06/05/2012 20:26

I think this kitty needs to see the vet tomorrow if no poo occurs. Good luck.

monstermissy · 06/05/2012 20:32

ive read the thread now i feel involved, come on kitty poo wont you :)

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 20:35

No poo, but we did have a V stinky fart whish is a first Smile I think Pinot's magic medicing is starting to have an effect. Righto enough about us how did you lot meet your cats? I read about Pinot finding her kittens in the garden but what about the rest of you? Where you always crazy cat ladies? Grin

Sparkling Cat (pics on profile) came from Cats' Protection League. Her owner gave her up because she couldn't afford to keep her.

I have two DSs and DH so it's nice to have another female around. Grin

I am still waiting for an abandoned kitten to arrive in my garden.....

DameHermione · 06/05/2012 20:40

wind is good (it is in humans anyway!)

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2012 20:43

Yes, wind is very good. have you lots of kitchen roll to hand. Maybe put down some plastic sheeting?

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 20:44

Sparkling if I see another ricey worm bit Coco might be turning up in your garden very soon Grin

Sparkling cat however, is very pretty. Is she grey or black?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2012 20:46

She is grey. people think she is some sort of posho pedigree, but I think she is just moggie TBH. She has the sweetest nature. Smile She makes me so happy.

Ratbagcatbag · 06/05/2012 20:46

My cat followed me hope one day. Thin as anything and full of fleas, and very MEOWY. Tried to find her home but she no one ever claimed her. Rescues full as mega recession. She just never left. She is still very MEOWY and demanding. I came up with all cutsie names, DH vetoed them all and said she's Just Cat, JC has been here three years now Grin

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 20:46

Lots of kitchen Roll, but at the mo she has fallen asleep again on my pretty pretty dress. I thought if I wore my best it was bound to tempt fate. Worked with my human babies anyway!

Mine came from a store manager of the company I then worked for. Not my own, but the next town over.

He had 2 cats- one Birman called Oliver, and a black and white normal moggy called Helen.

They had failed to remember when keeping Helen in on her first season that Oliver was an entire tomcat. Actually said they couldn't understand it.

She had the litter and they spoke to the vet about getting her spayed. Vet said to wait 6 weeks until the kittens were weaned, which they did.
The litter was found homes easily

Helen had a check at the vets and was found to be pregnant already, vet said he wasn't prepared to risk the op when she was pregnant and my litter was born.

5 weeks later, they take Helen up for a check before the op and it had happened again. I had to help him contact Cats Protection who rehomed the litter. Oliver was moved out to a friend for 4 weeks and Helen finally got neutered.

Oliver was put out to stud- he was a chocolate point Birman from very good bloodlines apparently.
