Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

Well sort of yes and no. I've been here for 6 years but moved around as Husband is in the forces (NATO) We are being posted overseas next year for three years but then we think we'll be posted back here but nothing is certain. I like it here alot apart from when my children or kitten are sick!

It might be worth giving a feed or two of just plain water across the day in case the kitten is constipated. I've never used goat's milk (apologies if thats not what you're using) but I know with commerical formulas it can cause constipation.

Does your DH wear a sexy uniform?

:o

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 19:01

You lot are brilliant. I was feeling really low when I first came online but I'm feeling much better now knowing I have lovely people out there thinking of Coco. It helps me to have a good excuse to sit down with the kitty and avoid the ironing too Wink

DameHermione · 06/05/2012 19:06

Can you order kitty milk? Or can i send you dome?

If the goat isn't agreeing with her.

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 19:25

Ok so something resembling a curry coloured grain of rice came out of Coco's bottom. Can I class it as her first poo? [waits with baited breath before doing a victory lap of the livingroom]

IAmBooyhoo · 06/05/2012 19:26

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2012 19:27

Aren't worms white? Is the grain of rice wriggling?

JustFab · 06/05/2012 19:28

Maybe we need a photo to confirm? Grin

Pinot · 06/05/2012 19:28

I think it's a worm too.... but fuck it, it still means it's all moving in her guts so I'm tentatively excited now!!

Pinot · 06/05/2012 19:28

google images = tape worm :( But still!

IAmBooyhoo · 06/05/2012 19:29

yes it's still good. it means things are moving in the right direction. keep rubbing.

Pinot · 06/05/2012 19:29

My kittens were riddled with worms too, it's OK :) And Ginger had a skin infection.

Delightful innit Hmm :o

DameHermione · 06/05/2012 19:31

Maybe small bit of poo? It's movement though! Hurrah!

I wonder if she'd been all hungry and starving so its taken this long for her first post-rescue food to get through?

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 19:32

Shock Oh My Life I touched a WORM!
