Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

I'm up, almost ready to leave too.
Your pussy is adorable, fingers crossed she' produced the biggest, smelliest poo by now.
Would she necessarily need to do a big one seeing she's only drinking milk?
PM Pinot, she'll know what to do and I can assure you that's true.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2012 08:56

Morning 3, please say that poo has been produced.

Pinot · 06/05/2012 10:47

3 Have PM'd you.

I'm a bit worried tbh. She needs a poo and pronto.

rjipsy yeah - they poo, if they have normal tummies, at least once a day and it's a big squelchy mustard coloured toothpaste style poo.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2012 11:20

I am worried too. I am wondering if she has a blockage or something. Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/05/2012 12:32

Hello ladies, Thanks so much for all the support. Really it means so much to know my little Coco is so cared for. Basically still no poo. I have been out all day walking the streets trying to find a vet that is open to no avail. Found a pet shop but they were of little help, apart from to watch me rub my cats bum a assure me I was doing it right. Still no poo Sad and I am V scared I'm going to lose my kitty. I Know it may seem daft, I know she is not my child and I know I am so lucky but the fear and the guilt is too much. I wish I could post her to one of you so you could really look after her. I know nothing of cats, I never asked for one I just couldn't see her left on her own but now she is here I am head over heals with her. Must be something to do with all those night feeds!
Anyway sorry to be such a downer I just wanted to fill you in on today and not leave any of you hanging, you have all been so lovely. Thank you all for your kind words and support. I'm not going to give up on her yet but i'm just preparing my self just in case.

I think you are being very sensible 3. Plus you know we will all be here for you whatever the outcome. Whatever happens you will have tried your best for Coco and that is all you can do.

Is she still taking milk?

DameHermione · 06/05/2012 18:16

Aw. Poor 3. You are doing all you can and even 'if' you have cuddled and fed and kept her warm, which is all she wants. ((hugs))

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 18:20

She is still taking milk but some of it is coming back out which I don't think it used to.
We're having a nice little cuddle now which is the main thing, she is such an angel Smile

3littlebadgers whereabouts are you? Maybe we someone will know a vet who will open for you.

There's also the RSPA. In London they have an emergency hospital which you can take animals to, could you try ringing them?

There's also the cats protection league, you might have one near you who could help?

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2012 18:31

3 is in Turkey three. It's all very different over there by the sound of it. Sad

Pinot · 06/05/2012 18:41

Lovely, lovely OP is making a pedialyte for Coco which according to some googled sites should prompt a poo. And some honey on Coco's tongue which was recommended on another site for the same thing.

So fingers crossed!!

Come on little one! x

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 18:41

It's true three I have spent the day searching and asking round and everyone, even the people who earn a living from pets, seem to think I'm a crazy foreigner and should just give up on her. Cats hang round in bins here and there is only one person that I have heard of from a friend of a neighbour who has a cat in the house and I kid you not no one will step foot through her door or eat from anything she touches! I am completely on my own with this one. Even the vet I went to the other day was a horse vet who took sympathy on me to wrangle some free english lessons for the kids!

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 18:43

No no, thank you Pinot who found the recipe. Still cooling but fingers crossed x

Come on Coco do a poo for us all. Smile

Oh no 3 are you alienating yourself by having a cat? Sad

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 18:47

Lol I am putting myself at risk but at least I will be able to have a messy house without the worry of anyone popping by Wink

How long have you lived in Turkey? Is it temporary?

threeleftfeet · 06/05/2012 18:53

Oh, you said that already, sieve for brains, I'm sorry!
