Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 05/05/2012 18:53

Good Luck!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 05/05/2012 19:03

Aww- she is lovely Smile
Sending her pooing vibes!
Once she is a bit more settled, would be a good idea to worm her. Most kittens are born with roundworms, and if she has had fleas too she may well have tapeworm too!
Keep us posted!

IsLovingAndGiving · 05/05/2012 19:03

Good luck!!!

Confused Still no poo. I would rather have to clean up ramdom piles of poo everywhere than have it all on my shoulders. The responsibility that is not the poo. At the momnet I would welcome it on my shoulders!

Could worms stop her bottom action?

I'm a bit funny about creatures with no eyes will I have to see the worms? [hands kitty to husband and shudders]

Watching and willing kitten poo to emerge. Am up to my ears in it here as ER kittens 1&2 are national pooing champions.

Keep rubbing OP, you're a kitten heroine.

Sparklingbrook · 05/05/2012 19:21

Just keep rubbing, just keep rubbing.........

3littlebadgers · 05/05/2012 19:37

Still nothing! She's picking up on my stress I'm sure of it DS2 was exactly the same when I was potty training him.

Someone else needs to continue rubbing duties. Smile

3littlebadgers · 05/05/2012 19:56

Just asked husband if he'd like to rub my pussy and he got up and went to the shop! [shocked] How rude, I've never been so insulted in all my days. I do hope he brings me home some chocolate Wink

Grin You deserve some.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/05/2012 20:02

Would it be dangerous to give a tiny bit of sugar in the milk?

I know milk is just sugar and protein anyway but lactulose is just sugar.

Or would it harm the kitten?

3littlebadgers · 05/05/2012 20:07

Thanks Fluffycloudland77 I thought of that myself too. Not done it yet though as I am not quite brave enough. Did see one website that suggested water and sugar. I think I'll give her till the morning and then make a decision.

Is she still very active or do you think her condition is deteriorating? sending many positive vibes and hoping for poo action soon!

3littlebadgers · 05/05/2012 20:13

Well at the moment she is fast asleep on me. I've only had her a couple of days and she is a bit doddery on her legs but I would say if anything, today, she has more strength esp in her claws.

Is her tummy very hard or is it soft?

IsLovingAndGiving · 05/05/2012 21:09

Has there been no poo in the whole time she's been with you? Does pinot have any more advise?

Come on kitty, poo!!!!

3littlebadgers · 06/05/2012 04:29

OK I know everyone is prob fast asleep but still no poo. Tummy is firm rather than soft and to answer IsLovingAndGiving not a single poo in the now three days since I've got her Sad. I've weighed her again and her weight gain since yesterday is very small 10g at the most (hard to tell on my scales). Pinot I need you! Is the tiny weight gain normal?

Ok I can't sleep so I've put up three new pics of my kitty.
