Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

Why am I sitting here, in sunny (ish) Brighton, in tears because a pinch of fluff in Turkey has had a poop? Well done 3 amazing devotion to duty, esp. the 2 hours to the vet.
Which part of Turkey are you?
I went when I was 20, the beginning of my hippy trail to India. Got a lift via The Pudding Shop with some Guatamalans. We went along the Black Sea and made friends with some local boys who took us for a boat ride, 5 of us and 2 of them. The oarsman started singing, full moon, very romantic, his friend explained that he wasn't serenading me but my boyfriend!
Went back to Kalkan years later with DH and 3 kids, in the days when the currency was expressed in millions. More times than I can remember, during 2 weeks stay, we were chased from restaurants and taxis by people wanting to give us the money back that we had mistakenly over-paid, amazing, lovely people.
Sorry for hijack, wanted to join in and all my kitty stories are even more boring than these. x

ripsishere · 07/05/2012 18:30

Grin at Pinot. I may sneak a sneaky kitten poo into my phone and send it to you.
Hopefully, now she's started she won't stop.
I loathe Turkey if anyone is interested.

Pinot · 07/05/2012 18:35

happy Birthday to Pinot's DS2 Smile

Just a small update. Coco is doing well thanks to all of your well wishes I am sure. She is making up for lost time with pleanty of poos of varying consistency. Some are quite watery while the others are very solid and hard for her to pass. The main thing is, though, she is passing them. Her little bottom looks very swollen but that is the least of my worries as I am sure it will heal. There was a time today when I was worried for her as ripsishere said I am sure she went into shock. Her left hind leg was trailing behind her out straight like it was in some form of paralysis but that too has righted itself and has not happened with any of the other bowel movements since.

Nothing wriggley has appeared in the poos so [holding breath in hope] does that mean she is free from worms?

I am a very proud kitten mummy, she is very sweet and very brave and the cuddliest bag of bones I have ever met.

Can I just take this opportunity to do a big shout out to Pinot who bless her has been a great source of knowledge throughout. If it were not for her advice behind set I am sure Coco's poo would still be a thing of mystery. Thanks

De-lurking to say yay! Grin

Elephantsteaparty · 07/05/2012 19:37

Not sure about the worms. Would speak to the vet when you're there tomorrow and see if she's old enough to take something.

Am SO pleased she's ok. Please keep us updated.

And keep away from the ironing!!!!!

SecretNutellaFix · 07/05/2012 19:50

Hope your ds2 has had a very happy birthday Pinot!

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2012 19:51

Not sure about the worms tbh, I have heard you only see them when you have wormed and they all come out.

What does your DH think of her?

Follyfoot · 07/05/2012 19:52

Woo hoo for Coco's poo

oiwheresthecoffee · 07/05/2012 19:58

I neer thought id be so glad to know a kitten pooed. :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2012 20:04

Maybe a smear of vaseline on her botty. She must feel like she's had a vindaloo.

3littlebadgers · 07/05/2012 20:07

DH is not an animal lover but I have seen him being a big softy with her when he thinks we aren't looking. He even went out and tracked down a fluffy hot water bottle for her Smile. He's good with the females my husband my DD is smitten.

If she knew what one was! GrinWink.

Another one de-lurking and breathing a sigh of relief after being on poo watch!

3 you are a brilliant kitty mum, Coco is so sweet and I have everything crossed for her at the vets. Long may the pooing continue Smile

pinot you are a star and a very wise one at that. I looked at your pics too and I have serious cat envy now, they are gorgeous. My cat died 6 years ago and I've wanted another one for so long but still can't do it as can't face going through that again.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2012 20:20

I can imagine it isnt easy to find a hot water bottle in Turkey.

Esp a fluffy one.

She might need a wipe over with a warm flannel, the mom would have constantly washed her.

Does she still have fleas?.

IsLovingAndGiving · 07/05/2012 20:27

Yay yay yay!!!

We've been busy all day with a little birthday party for dc2 & dc3 & I've been dying to check up on little coco!!! Really pleased everything is going well!

ExitPursuedByABear · 07/05/2012 23:00

Hurrah for Pinot and her kittencare.

Are you going to do the two hour trip to the vet 3?

ripsishere · 08/05/2012 08:01

How is she this morning?

ExitPursuedByABear · 08/05/2012 08:33

Checking in.....
