Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

Well, I have just got in from taking the Boys to school and Coco has done a poo! I am over the moon Smile.
She is very shaken though and at the moment is curled up on my lap trying to calm down. She still needs to see a vet though as the poor love isn't right. The other good news is that I have found one that will hopefully see her the only problem is that is a good two hours for us to get there. Given that and her current state I am going to stay close to her at home today and give her pleanty of TLC and then hopefully get her there tommorrow when my DH can be home to see to the children.
The pooey vibes Worked ladies! Grin

Hurrah for the poo!

Two hours to the vets! Cirkey.

Bless her at being shaken from doing a poo - was it a biggy?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 07/05/2012 12:26

After godknowshowmanydays, of course it was a biggie! Grin

Glad the kitty is doing well. :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2012 12:26

No wonder she's shaky, poor coco.

3littlebadgers · 07/05/2012 12:31

POO x2 She's just done another! Grin Thank goodness for kitchen roll and anti-bacterial soap. Can't see any worms is this a good sign? If there were worms would I see them?

Is she a bit less shaky?

Hurrah for kitten poo!

TidyDancer · 07/05/2012 12:36

Yay for poo!

I've been following this thread from the beginning and am so pleased!

LST · 07/05/2012 12:43

Yay for the poo!! She must be feeling better after that!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 07/05/2012 12:56

Delurking to congratulate coco on her pooing!! I cannot believe that I, number one dog person and allergic to cat hair anyway, has got so caught up in this story of constipated coco, but I really wish you and her the very best and hope the vet is helpful tomorrow!!

3littlebadgers · 07/05/2012 12:59

She has taken some milk and is sleeping peacefully in my lap. Really need to get on with the ever increasing mountian of ironing while my DD is sleeping too but I can't drag myself away from her Smile. That and it being 30 degrees. standing over a hot iron just doesn't appeal Blush.

Ironing Confused

What is that?

AncientsOfMuMu · 07/05/2012 13:05

Hurrah.
Constipated Coco has produced a poo or two.
Phew.

JustFab · 07/05/2012 13:06

Only on here would strangers cheer a kitten pooing! Grin

Elephantsteaparty · 07/05/2012 13:06

Am very pleased indeed to hear about Coco's poos. You must be a very proud mummy indeed!

You cannot possibly do any ironing though, as Coco needs the security of your lap to sleep on. Naughty mummy for evening thinking of it! (Does that sounds a convincing enough argument?)

Smurfy1 · 07/05/2012 13:13

fantastic news poor wee love needs you more than ironing!

DameHermione · 07/05/2012 13:14

Hurrah!

Bollocks to the ironing.

Envy at your 30 degrees. I have on 3 cardis a blanket and the central heating.

Sparklingbrook · 07/05/2012 13:15

That is such good news. 2 hours to the vet though. Sad

Sounds like you need some sort of kitten sling if you want to get anything done. Grin

3littlebadgers · 07/05/2012 13:15

Elephantsteaparty Yes thank you very much, just going to print it out in my defence Wink

DameHermione feel free to come and look after my infested kitty and warm up.
sparkling Grin to the kitten sling an extra cup in my bra would do nicely!

DameHermione · 07/05/2012 13:21

I may take you up on that 3.

Elephantsteaparty · 07/05/2012 13:43

Glad to be of assistance!

Northernlurker · 07/05/2012 14:10

Oh that is good news! So we have poo, I presume she's still weeing well and taking milk? All good.

ripsishere · 07/05/2012 17:12

Hooray. I started reading and got a mounting sense of doom. A whole two poos. I imagine she was a bit shocked by them. People can get hypovolaemic shock from big poos. It's similar to losing a lot of blood.
Keep on stroking your kitty. If you need worming tablets, I'm sure I can get to Pets are us or whatever it's called.
