Do you let your dog sleep in your bed?

We haven't had our pup long, only 2 weeks, but I was just curious how many people actually allow their dog to sleep on the bed? Ours doesn't sleep on the bed but does sleep in our room. People say to me all the time "oh I know it's unhygienic but I let the dog sleep on the bed", which tells me they know it's frowned upon but do it anyway because they love their pups. So I was just wondering, do you let your pup sleep on the bed?

I've just read that through and realised I said "sleep on the bed" about a million times. Apologies!

No. Absolutely not.

lilluce95 · 11/07/2023 22:29

I'm the same as you, my dog sleeps on the floor in her bed in our room. She'll jump up in the morning for cuddles though which I totally don't mind at all 🥰 each to their own!

Lira715 · 11/07/2023 22:29

Yep .. said I wouldn’t … gave in when he was a puppy and hes still in my bed now 16 years later.

sunnynightsarethebest · 11/07/2023 22:30

Mine does sleep on the bed or in our room he sleeps down stairs cos he is a fidget he gets up loads to change position over the night. If he wasn't such a fidget yes I would let him

Mine doesn't

scoopoftheday · 11/07/2023 22:31

Yes.

Both of them 😚

They're small and don't move though..

Moleinthedark · 11/07/2023 22:32

Once in a blue moon as a treat! Mainly a treat for DP Grin

Hellocatshome · 11/07/2023 22:32

Ddog sleeps on top of the bed during the day, he has a blanket that we put over the duvet when we get up and remove before we go to bed. When we go to bed he gets turfed out and sleeps in his own bed on the floor in our room. He is a rescue and wouldn't cope not being allowed to sleep in our room but I dont fancy actually sleeping in the same bed as him.

Jobreveal · 11/07/2023 22:33

No! They don't go upstairs either.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 11/07/2023 22:33

My first dog never came upstairs.

My rescue dog sleeps in my bed.

I regret that my first dog didn’t.

BarrelOfOtters · 11/07/2023 22:34

Yes, and she’s a pain, takes up half the bed, fidgets, jumps on it when wet, barks like a loon if we forget to lock cat in kitchen and he has the temerity to come and enquire about breakfast….

we said we won’t if we ever have another dog….but we will.

SirenSays · 11/07/2023 22:34

They do usually but now it's hot they sleep on their blankets on the bedroom floor

mfhtoeh · 11/07/2023 22:34

In: no
on: yes

Rules:

she has to be invited
she has to be clean (not muddly)
she has to be well (no UTIs).

she is a good girl, curls up small & hardly snores/farts. She then waits til I’m asleep & pootles off to another room.

She won’t be in the sane room at the bay at night tho so I have to lock the cat out & then I get the cat on my bed add day

Moleinthedark · 11/07/2023 22:34

Oh and we didn't before he was mayve eight months old. Maybe older. He was crated until about six months and then given free range of our open plan living/kitchen room. But knew to go to his bed.

Porageeater · 11/07/2023 22:34

Yes she sleeps at the bottom of the bed

Maverickess · 11/07/2023 22:35

Yes, both of mine do. Don't have to share it with anyone else and they stay on their side, on top of the covers & throw for that reason, but they're a small & medium breed and I've got a king size bed so plenty of room. They have their own blanket to cover them if they're cold and start burying to warm up.

knightsinwhitesatin · 11/07/2023 22:36

Yep and I love it. Only once he was over 1 though, so we knew he wouldn’t chew anything in our room while we slept

primoseyellow · 11/07/2023 22:36

yes its one of the best things about having a dog to me. She doesn't shed though, but even if she did I would still let her and have a throw.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 11/07/2023 22:39

No, they don’t go upstairs. We are in an old cottage the stairs are so steep they are practically ladders I don’t want them going up and down them it’s bad for their hips.
Also one of them snores so loudly it would wake the dead.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 11/07/2023 22:40

Yes, but now he’s not a little puppy any more he chooses to mainly sleep in the wardrobe or a drawer space in my room. He’s very small!
He will often start off the night on my bed and then come back on there in the morning.
I treasure the times he jumps up and curls on my pillow next to my head.
Makes me so happy!!!!

I board dogs in my home and they sleep on my bed if this is what they’re used to.
Love a tangle of dogs in the morning!🙂

mycatsanutter · 11/07/2023 22:40

Nope , I love her to bits but she is a dead weight and likes to lie on feet and legs it just gets too uncomfortable. Plus what about when me & Dh are having a bit of fun ? I don't want an audience

tryingsomethingnew · 11/07/2023 22:40

Mine does. Didn't start that way but he kept waking up at night barking so I let him come up. Now if I try to keep him downstairs he barks and cries all night. I wish he wasn't ON the bed but he sort of takes turns with floor and bed. Our problem is he chews the sheets sometimes so wish o could stop him. Also, he will most nights go down and do a wee or poo in the kitchen! Don't know what to do with him!

EmotionalSupportWyrm · 11/07/2023 22:40

Yep super king bed. 4 dogs and me on it right now - well me IN it, they are on it.

ExH would never have the dogs upstairs. Very happy with the change frankly.

Groutyonehereagain · 11/07/2023 22:41

Absolutely not. I love my dog but I don’t want my bed smelling like a dog’s basket. 🤮
