Sounds like oil might be very tasty for dogs Shock.

Enjoy your night out Squirrel. I'm sure squirrelDog will be a good as gold.

I clean with white vinegar as normal cleaning sprays give me a sore throat. I decant the vinegar into smaller spray bottles and once found a 10 litre plastic container of strong vinegar in Ddog's bed... fortunately unopened so not sure whether it was just there for fun or whether she was going to give it a go and we came back in time Shock

drinkswineoutofamug · 02/03/2019 20:00

This is the cause of flos amature dramatics woes. Does look bloody sore though.

Distantdog how big is your dog to carry that size container 😳

distantdog · 02/03/2019 20:07

She's a 23kg lab/pointer cross (rescue mongrel so no doubt lots of other bits and bobs mixed in) but shes' a titan when it comes to getting food... nothing is too high/heavy/horrible to deter her!

Ah, poor Flo... I'm sure it is sore even if she is milking it with your son and strangers!

drinkswineoutofamug · 02/03/2019 20:35

She sounds like a bundle of trouble.
I really feel for flo. I can only give her as much pain killer as prescribed but she wants to run and walk everywhere and I don't want her to hurt it more than it is . Hoping a another few days it will of healed a bit more

drinkswineoutofamug · 02/03/2019 22:31

Flo is on metacam 12ml daily can I give her 2 doses of 6ml instead? Morning and night or is it best in one hit?

BiteyShark · 02/03/2019 23:02

Whenever BiteyDog has had a paw injury like that we have been told to not walk him and he's either had dressings or a boot to keep it dry and clean when outside. Poor thing it looks very sore Sad

It also took around 3 weeks for it to heal.

Morning, thanks bitey , we tried dressings and socks, picture a dog spinning round on 3 legs with their foot in their mouth trying to get said article of their foot.
I let her out in the garden and attempt to bathe her foot. Another joy. Due to her breed it's been a trying couple of days. Short walks on the field, no 3 mile jobs.
It was pointed out to us that she may have a tad bit of collie in her ?? Looked on the internet at images of whippet x collies and my jaw hit the ground. Screen shot a photo, sent it to my mate who replied that flo looks beautiful. My reply that ain't flo!

Totally understand the sock biting. BiteyDog used to get very upset when we had to put the boot on to toilet. That was a very tiring three weeks.

Paws take bloody ages to heal. I have stopped walking in certain parts and constantly judge where the ball will land and the type of ground he will skid along as we had a spate of paw injuries as there is a lot of sharp flint in the forest near us.

She's my baby.

KateGrey · 03/03/2019 17:09

Grey dog is 15 weeks. He’s found his feet and is much more lively. Lots of nipping (everyone but me). He’s a dopey git and has only really mastered come and sit though he isn’t off lead yet so we’ve not had to majorly test come. Feeling a bit of a failure as he can seem like an out of control toddler (but that might be my anxiety speaking). He adores people though and other dogs.

BiteyShark · 03/03/2019 17:37

KateGrey the bitey phase is very hard. Thank god they grow out of it Grin

Btw I was terrified to let my dog off lead initially but I spoke to a trainer that trains my breed of dogs to work and she said I must do it before he hit his teenage phrase. If I didn't train it beforehand then when he became stubborn and deaf as a teenager he would be off and wouldn't understand that he needed to come back at all. She was right because when he did hit his teens he ran off but actually he knew to come back because whilst he was 'sticking two fingers up at me' he knew what recall meant.

I just found a safe place when he was a puppy where I could see all around me but he could only really see me and I made sure I had pockets full of tasty treats and called him back all the time even though he didn't want to wander off at that age as I was 'his world'. We had also trained recall to a whistle in the garden beforehand as a whistle takes all the emotion out of recall. I think he was about 4 to 4.5 months when we did it but I wish we had done it earlier.

Oh and don't worry. I think most of us were anxious that we weren't doing it right but we all got there in the end Brew

It's going to be a 'fun' night again tonight. BiteyDog was very barky last night due to the wind and it doesn't sound much better tonight 😭

Just came back from being blown round the field. Then the joy of a paw bathe. Flo has been treated to a new very padded bed , not sure why I got her the large though, a small would of been fine the way she curls up! New collar coming this week as well. Hard life being a spoilt dog.

She seems to love the wind. Maybe because of been locked up all the time she savours any moment of freedom which I am happy to facilitate 🙂

BiteyShark · 03/03/2019 18:34

I love watching BiteyDog in the wind as his ears take off Grin.

Hope flo likes her new bed.

I wish SquirrelDog would sleep in a (Dog) bed. He’s killed all of his.

He is almost 3 (or possibly almost 4) and still his default behaviour is ‘out of control toddler’. I really wouldn’t be feeling bad about a 15 week old puppy! Grin

drinkswineoutofamug · 04/03/2019 13:50

For the first time in ages she's slept through the night. Not limping as much today which is good. She's helping me gut the house , attacked the hoover and ran off with my dusters! Got 2 weeks off , so except uni work that I've hugely put off major house clear out and got some works planned for next week, paw depending

drinkswineoutofamug · 04/03/2019 13:51

Walks not works 🙄

BiteyShark · 05/03/2019 13:27

Glad the limps better drinkswine. Enjoy your 2 weeks off WineCake
