Fortunately BiteyDog will go and pee in the stormy weather but runs back in very quickly Grin.

Think we will stay in today and just do training.

Bella hasn't got out of bed yet and she is usually up for a walk in anything so she must consider the weather bad today.

BiteyShark · 12/03/2019 10:50

I actually like the odd day like this because it forces me to actually do bits of training all day and BiteyDog doesn't seem to care that he misses a walk anymore. We have reduced his walks at daycare from 2 to 1 to avoid the one where he is more active (and did his injury) and he seems quite settled.

The mad muppet wanted a walk. So we did. She spent 10 mins down the road with her ears flat and tail between her legs giving me dirty looks.
Home for a rub down and a omelette and she's now ok with me

steppemum · 12/03/2019 12:09

we went out, got blown roudn for an hour and then soaked in the last 10 minutes on the way home.

Steppedog has been walking so nicely on the lead recently, but he dragged me home for that last 10 minutes nd I can't say I blame him!

Awww Cocodog is lovely.

I wish BiteyDog would wear a robe. We are just back from the groomers and he's rubbing himself dry on the carpets as he's too scared of the dryer so he comes home wet Grin

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 12/03/2019 13:36

Mine you with this weather I am not sure who was wetter, me or him as we got drenched just getting out of the car.

steppemum · 12/03/2019 14:04

I introduced steppedog to the hairdryer one day during the snow, the one where the hose was frozen and he rolled in something.
Even after rubbing down he was quite wet and cold, so I took him upstairs, he loved it!

Did it again a few days later, and he was up those stairs well ahead of me. For a while when I dried my hair he tried to sneak in!

BiteyShark · 12/03/2019 16:33

SteppeDog is braver than BiteyDog Grin

Well we are still having the food stand off. He is definitely wanting just treats but equally he's pretty subdued so maybe he just isn't as hungry now he's doing less exercise so is being more picky.

Hmmm I know food orientated dogs are a pain but having one that isn't defintely brings different challenges Grin

Oh cocdog in the bathrobe is just too cute... I am so tempted to get one for Ddog for the cuteness factor alone, but I bet it will just end in the crate of things we've bought for the dog that only got worn once...

Talking of which, do any of your dog's have tick treatment? DH dropped by the vet for another month's supply of her ridiculously expensive natural relaxation supplements, and the vet mentioned that we should start thinking about it once the spring arrives, so potentially in a month or two. Can get a collar for about €40 that lasts 8 months, or monthly pill at €20 a pop. Obviously the collar suits our bank balance much better (if we can get her to wear it and have it not bother her... the betting is we will buy the collar AND end up on the pills)! Any got any experience?

BiteyShark · 13/03/2019 02:38

I use nexgard spectra which kills ticks but like fleas they have to bite him before they die. It should kill the tick before they have chance to feed and spread things like lymes disease etc.

I prefer the pill to the collar. I have friends who use the seresto collar who say they have never seen a tick on their dog since using it as it's meant to repel them iirc.

However, we used to find lots and it just never seemed to work for us. I wonder if that was because he was always swimming daily with the walker despite it saying getting wet/bathing makes no difference to it. We are also in a very high tick area and it isn't unusual to find lots of ticks on him after a walk so again maybe the quantity was just too much. I also didn't like the fact that now he had two collars on.

Cocodog doesn’t want to keep the robe on for long, fine riding back in the car and for about 10 mins once we are inside but it does contain mud etc until I haul her up into the sink for a rinse. The real success has been her lightweight raincoat which zips up along her back, only use it for belting down rain like yesterday though.
We use bravecto for ticks because we are in a high tick area.
Cocodog is food driven until it comes to ball play. We are trying to do the swop a treat for the ball to end the game. Not working at the moment😂

BiteyShark · 13/03/2019 07:23

We went through a few stages of BiteyDog running away in the garden when he thought ball play would finish. Now we get him back inside and then take the ball off him with a treat. For some reason he seems happier with this rather than removing it when he's in the garden Confused

BiteyDog finished the food standoff this morning and ate his breakfast. Don't think he was impressed that we withheld his dentastix last night because he refused to eat Grin

Morning folks, I have yet another question. What do you use for fleas and how often do you treat. I have to admit I don't know when she was last done. She gets her worming tablets.

BiteyShark · 13/03/2019 08:06

Nexgard spectra does fleas, ticks and several worms including lung worm. I like it because it's a monthly tablet and that's all we need and BiteyDog has no side effects from it.

We used to use drontal every 6 months in addition but it upsets his stomach and talking to my vet he said given that we don't feed raw he isn't a high risk for those worms and not to bother with that tablet anymore.

Thanks Bitey , partner has just thrown it at me that her thinks we should get a pet passport for her as well. Just looked in to it. Bloody hell. Hoop jumping or what!

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 13/03/2019 08:45

Err, I wouldn't get a pet passport until we know what the outcome of Brexit is. Assuming we leave the EU, pet passports will no longer be valid.

drinkswineoutofamug · 13/03/2019 08:54

That's what I said .....
Going to wait till the end of the month when this shit show is over and then decide

BiteyShark · 13/03/2019 08:58

Think you might be optimistic thinking it will be over at the end of the month Grin

Got dog a new coat. The lovely lady in the shop sold it me half price as dog is a rescue 😊
She also said to get some bax (?) oil from Holland and Barrett's as that helped calm her rescue husky . And she wants me to bring dog to her shop to be cuddled 🙂

distantdog · 13/03/2019 11:35

We had to get Ddog rabies blood tests last month as they need to be done 3 months in advance of travel in the event of the UK being treated as "a third country" and we are potentially planning to bring her to the UK in May/June. Something to think about if any of you were planning a trip to Europe with the dog this summer...
