Thank you suzy x

Ah lovely puppy! She looks naughty Smile

So, to add to the €200 vet's bill this week, we have a €40 estimate from the tailor to repair my coat. Ddog is costing us a fortune!

Glad to hear that Bastardpup is on the mend and hope It's not too bad for Bella at the dentist. Honey - there's life in the old dog yet it seems!

Bitey - Ddog got randomly spooked on our walk yesterday and we had to cut it very short as she wouldn't go any further. We do this walk all the time and there was no one else around. I think it was little bits of snow gently falling of the tree in front of us. So weird when they suddenly get scared of something innocuous like the noise of binning egg shells! Confused

fleshmarketclose · 07/02/2019 12:04

Yes much more difficult to rescue when you have children. My youngest is 16 this month but having said that Bella is the most gentle dog and would have been just fine with small children but because she is tiny I think the rescue preferred older children as she might have been hurt or constantly picked up with little ones.We feel very lucky to have her tbh.

Mrsoh39 · 07/02/2019 12:56

Ah she sounds lovely flesh. I haven't even managed to get dressed yet due to puppy watching and poorly child whinging, so I'm off to do it now.

Oh distantdog, your dog is costing you a small fortune Grin
Ours is called Misstori, she is not living up to her name, at all. She's asleep at the moment, then it's out in the garden when she wakes, oh I spoke too soon she's up Grin

And thanks to the wind all the bits I've taken off her in the garden have no been blown back onto the floor Hmm

BiteyShark · 07/02/2019 15:59

flesh I am sure Bella will feel much better with shiny teeth. Despite brushing BiteyDogs teeth every day he still has tartar build up so I think it might be us doing that as well soon.

Mrsoh39 my MN username is in honour of BiteyDogs puppy days. Their teeth bloody hurt Sad.

distant I'm too scared to count up how much I have spent on BiteyDog Blush. Laughing at the light snow flakes spooking DDog. BiteyDog gets spooked if the bloody wind sometimes blows his tail Confused

Mrsoh39 · 07/02/2019 16:07

I like it BiteyShark Grin

Have been trying to do some training with her, it's going slowly, hopefully next week will be more successful with dd2 back at school.

BiteyShark · 07/02/2019 16:22

I have been trying to do some homework from our first scentwork class but let's just say that it isn't going great. Trying to get him to touch the jar of scent just involves him running through all the other commands he knows which translated means GIVE ME THE TREAT and fo with that stupid jar Hmm

Mrsoh39 · 07/02/2019 18:07

They are not daft Bitey Grin

steppemum · 08/02/2019 10:20

Ha ha, Steppedog does that Bitey!

I have been trying to teach him to reach the tug of war rope. I am also trying to teach him to retireve the ball. He can retrieve it out and about, but I want him to go and find it round the house.

Me - ROPE!
Steppedog, grabs any toy etc nearby and drops it at my feet, and stares at the treat hopefully.
Now we have spent MONTHS getting the rope and giving it to him saying ROPE, but he refuses to learn it, it is too much like hard work.

Same with ball, if we are outside and I say WHERESTHEBALL? with the hand signal, he will run miles across the field to where he left the ball, and bring it to my feet.
But in the house, with the ball 2 feet away, within sight, and he just grabs the nearset toy.

BiteyShark · 08/02/2019 10:22

steppe I do wonder sometimes whether it's me teaching him or him teaching me Grin

steppemum · 08/02/2019 10:23

just working out how to post pictures, so here is steppedog waiting for his dinner

Awww he's lovely 😍

Mrsoh39 · 08/02/2019 10:43

Aww so cute Steppemum, I really can't wait to get ours out, she will love it.
I now have pj bottoms with massive holes in where she's grabbed them Hmm

distantdog · 08/02/2019 15:24

Aw, glad to see what steppedog looks like so I can picture him with his pannetone!

Get used to it Mrsoh! When do they grow out of this behaviour? We think Ddog is about 20 months... left her for 40 minutes yesterday, having put all our coats etc. in the bedroom, shut the bedroom door, shut the baby gate across the bedroom door... return to find that the minx has managed to open the bedroom door (scratch marks on the door and frame around the handle!!) and is in the bedroom, behind the locked baby gate she has scaled, having a good old chew on my coat... the same one that is currently hoodless as the hood is at the tailor's being repaired.

I give up!

BiteyShark · 08/02/2019 15:27

I'm having a nightmare busy day and its bloody stormy here so haven't been able to give BiteyDog much attention or even go out into the garden to throw a ball.

Going to have to make it up to him later once I have finished work. Bless him, apart from huffs and trying to climb on my lap he's been pretty good about it.

BiteyShark · 08/02/2019 15:28

Oh dear distant just seen your last post. Maybe DDog really really likes that coat Sad

distantdog · 08/02/2019 16:06

Yes, it's 99% my stuff rather than DH's - I think she finds comfort when she's alone in things that smell of me. Also (though I didn't make that mistake with this coat) I have occasionally made the mistake of leaving some treats in the pocket of one of my hiking jackets after our walk... came back to discover the jacket in her bed, the treats having disappeared through a hole she had created by chewing through from the inside (so the exterior of the jacket looks fine)! I think she's been particularly bad this week because she just hasn't had enough exercise - the very deep and heavy snowfall this time last week curtailed her having a walk at all, then she could only have limited walks and not run anywhere at all, then she got stupidly spooked by some snowflakes falling off a tree so that was a short one too... she's used to getting proper mountain walks everyday. Managed to get her out for an hour of uphill (we had to stop because I was dripping with sweat it was such hard work) and half an hour back downhill. She's been post-walk snoozing like her old self, so am hoping less antics this evening as we are going out for a drink (will only be an hour max) with friends.

Honeyroar · 08/02/2019 17:59

Lovely to see the pictures. I’m in Mumbai for a quick work trip. We always feed the stray dogs around the airport and hotel. This is Sweetie having all the left over chicken breakfast from the plane.

BiteyShark · 08/02/2019 18:02

Honey that would break my heart seeing them fend for themselves Sad

Honeyroar · 08/02/2019 18:07

Yes it does a bit. They aren’t in bad condition generally (weight wise), just look like they need a flea treatment and have bred loads. My friend actually brought one back to the UK last summer. The dog coped amazing well with the flight and quarantine and has adjusted really well to domestic life. She saw her first snow recently, not much of that in Mumbai..

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 08/02/2019 21:19

BastardPup was back at daycare today. He is knackered now. God knows what he had eaten because his farts are room-clearing at the minute

distantdog · 08/02/2019 21:59

Well it's good to hear bastardpup is back on form... though bad luck on the toxic farts! So far we have felt very smug and happy about the lack of bad breath and farts from Ddog... just know that is going to come back and bite us on the bum and I'll be on here desperately asking for advice!!

Aw honey, I'm sure you must encounter much more heart-breaking scenarios - on many levels - during your travels that you are powerless to help with, but I'm glad to see Sweetie with her bonus airline breakfast.

BiteyShark · 09/02/2019 07:09

Glad BastardPup is back to normal Grin.

Looks like the stormy weather has finally passed so will be going out for a walk later when the sun comes up. I am anticipating lots of mud Grin

Mrsoh39 · 09/02/2019 08:50

Still very windy here Bitey, the puppy had horrendous smelling farts last night, that was my signal to get her outside quickly.

She's still biting, which is to be expected, going to get her a couple more toys today, although she seems to like water bottles.

BiteyShark · 09/02/2019 13:18

Mrsoh39 I remember the nipping stage lasting quite a few months Sad.

So glad DH was with me on the walk today. We saw a loose dog running after a deer and then a bit later a lady looking for her. Fortunately later we spotted the dog again and I was able to keep her roughly in one place with BiteyDog whilst DH walked to find the lady again to reunite them. It's such a shame dogs don't have better common sense.
