The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

Me too, I thought Roman and Shiv were twins.

I had half convinced myself that Roman has a different mother from Shiv and Kendall? I thought he was from a third marriage, I wonder why? I definitely didn't realise Shiv was the youngest. Kieran Culkin is 5 years older than Sarah Snook in reality.

I think they all have the same mother; the three of them have a bond between them that Conor doesn't. And I remember Roman calling their mother 'Mommy' when they went to England to visit.

Ooh trailer for next episode on Insta..... can't wait!

Who is Connor’s mother and why don’t we ever see her?

I hope we find out more about her this series. We don’t even know if she’s alive but it’s been suggested that she had mental health issues and was institutionalised. There might be more said about her at Conner’s wedding.

Brian Cox is 77 this year. They probably want to end while he's still around!

As the cruel patriarch is what the series is about.

And Alan Ruck is 66. Even if Alan is acting age down and Brian acting age up, Logan must have had Connor very young.

The series started with Logan’s 80th birthday. It hasn’t been specified how many years have passed but I’d guess it was his 82nd or 83rd birthday in the last episode. I think Conner is probably meant to be in his early 50s, he’s spoken about as if he still lived at home when the others were young but old enough to have taken on a parental role (at least to Roman) so I’d guess he was a teen when they were born.

Just watched ep 2 final season. What a great episode. Some really funny lines and scenarios but so murky. Enjoy.

tribpot · 03/04/2023 14:56

Yep some fantastic bits. I got completely lost in the business politics for a while but it became clearer as things went on.

Just so dark within that family, though. Beyond grim. I just want one of them to cash out and leave. Yes, you lose a billion-dollar payout but they must have tens of millions in personal property. Just get out and be free. But like the Murdochs and the Trumps, the kids can't do it.

SmartHome · 03/04/2023 18:26

I dont understand all the business deals. I thought Logan was selling Waystar to GoJo scandi guy. Is ATN not part of that? Why is he now wanting to modernises ATN. And why did he want Pierce? Which the kids have bought but need the Waystar money to pay for?

Netaporter · 03/04/2023 18:50

@SmartHome the part of waystar he is selling does not include ATN (a bit like Fox News is not part of Murdoch’s News Corp) and he is selling that to Matson as the GoJo deal. The kids need the GoJo Deal to be able to honour their offer to Nan Pierce. Without the GoJo deal they can’t buy Pierce. Logan wants Pierce as he had always coveted it and lost out previously. It is a heart not a head thing for him.

Netaporter · 03/04/2023 18:52

He wants to immerse himself into the ATN thing as he’ll have nothing left to play with. In his head, If he builds another waystar then he’s proved he is a business genius not a one hit wonder.

MayIDestroyYou · 03/04/2023 19:43

Sweeeeeeet …

Although, while the shifting loyalties still make for edge of your seat viewing, I’m left with the impression of them all slightly treading water in Ep 2. Also we need more Gerri.

The first review I read afterwards suggested Connor might be the natural inheritor of Logan’s crown ... Shock

tribpot · 03/04/2023 19:52

We are going one day at a time at the moment, next week is Connor's wedding aka tomorrow in Succession time. So it is very detailed around this deal. We definitely need more Gerri, esp as Logan is trying to sideline her (I assumed in case of conflicting loyalties with Roman, but now I'm not so sure). Based on the trailer for next week there will be more of her to come.

I think Logan wants to hang on to ATN because it's the source of his political power. And he wants to pivot it online so he can make it more extreme and hate-filled. Connor works quite well as the acceptable face of extremism, so definitely not impossible.

Summerslimtime · 03/04/2023 20:05

I binged it all and really wanted to like it, but it's not as good as it thinks it is.

Billions is what Succession should have been and wanted to be...and what I wanted.

Eyesopenwideawake · 03/04/2023 21:11

Fuck me, tonight's episode was just stunning. Probably the best ever.

PuppyMonkey · 03/04/2023 21:59

it's not as good as it thinks it is.

Lol. Yes dear.

SmartHome · 03/04/2023 23:19

Succession is a 100 times better than Billions for me, I've watched them both. I got a bit bored of Billions a sit stopped being in any way believable and there was no character development at all.

MarshaBradyo · 03/04/2023 23:22

Great episode. Kendall and Shiv still very annoying

Some fantastic lines

Re pp way better than Billions

SpookyBlackCat · 04/04/2023 00:18

I loved the irony that they ended up having their big family meeting in a karaoke box. Roman is definitely cracking.

I also loved Connor's big speech about how he doesn't need love then goes home and cuddles up to Willa.

Logan didn't even hesitate to arrange a meeting on Connor's wedding day. He's such a shit.

I really loved Greg's hilariously bad chat with Kerry about her arms. I really how we see more of Ewan this season too.

I always remember what the children's mother said about Logan “He never saw anything he loved that he didn’t want to kick it just to see if it would still come back.” It sums him up so well.

I've seen promo scenes of them shooting in Norway, so my guess is that Logan is right about Mattson walking. Can't wait!

Blondbombsite · 04/04/2023 08:05

I thought episode two was fantastic, one of the best. It was incredibly funny but also had really emotional moments like Conner’s speech and Shiv’s obvious heartbreak at her dad siding with Tom. Roman is just a joy to watch, on the one hand he’s despicable when interacting with normal people and picked a nazi to back for president but he was also the only one who seemed to remotely care about Conner and isn’t taking any pleasure in screwing over Logan.

Does anyone else suspect Conner’s broke. He seemed very keen for the deal to go through and it was him who gave Logan the head’s up when he usually stays out of business. I guess he’s blown it on his 1% and if worried that he won’t have Willa without the money.

They mentioned Conor wasn't on the board - how come? And how come he never felt that an entitled heir to the business the way the rest of them did? He is certainly deluded enough in his capabilities to think that he could.
Perhaps this was explained previously and I just can't remember.

Roman is still the only one resembling a human at times - concern for Conor, texting his dad Happy Birthday despite the fall out, not wanting to do the meeting with Logan because of Conor's wedding (but ultimately being persuaded otherwise - he always seems to want to actually do the right thing but is so easily swayed by others he deems to be more powerful).

Why did Logan say "Not Gerri" when he was getting in the car and calling the meeting? Is she on the outs?

Kerri is so annoying! Stay out of everything! Can't wait until Logan gets bored of her like he does with everyone else and discards her. Perhaps its started now that she has lost her "betrayal virginity" as Kendall called it.

SpookyBlackCat · 04/04/2023 13:20

I think Connor is just 100% loyal to Logan. I also think it's possible that Logan refused the helicopter not just to be spiteful but to deliberately make them late for the rehearsal and to make the kids feel they owed Connor one and he got them to the karaoke bar and that the whole Willa running off thing was just bullshit and it was all a set-up so Logan could get them alone to speak to them. I mean that Logan planned the whole thing. But, this is one of the things I love about Succession is that you really don't know what the truth is a lot of the time. You can't really trust anyone or really know what their real motives are. They all lie and manipulate and do whatever it takes to get what they want. So, maybe it was all planned that way or maybe not. It gives you so much to think about.

SpookyBlackCat · 04/04/2023 13:32

I think Connor just isn't interested in the family business. It's not his thing. He's happy to take the money and live the lifestyle. He said he has always been interested in politics.

I wouldn't trust Roman. They all have their moments when they seem human, but they're all monsters!

I don't think we know yet why No Gerri. I'm sure we will find out soon.
