The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

But none of them eat! So even the buffet isn't of that much interest. I think we see Kendall eating power snacks on the go occasionally

Lottapianos · 26/04/2023 12:31

'But none of them eat! So even the buffet isn't of that much interest'

That's true! And that buffet looked SPECTACULAR. As did the free flowing beer and whisky 🥃 I would have been all over it

MayIDestroyYou · 26/04/2023 12:32

Tbf on this occasion they’ve got other stuff going on!

But in general I suppose we must assume they’re all spectacularly well travelled and long ago lost the thrill of being somewhere new.

Must be the same with clothes. I probably spend most of my MN time on S&B and love the pursuit of beautiful things. But whether I’ve been rich or poor there’s always been a limit to what I could buy, necessitating careful choosing and decision making. That’s always been part of the fun. Cannot imagine how dull it would be if I just had my wardrobe assistant pre-order the entire Gabriela Hearst collection every season …

Blondbombsite · 26/04/2023 12:35

None of the Roy’s enjoy the buffet though, it’s just the underlings and it signals them out as lesser. Note that those who most went for it are on the kill
list.

@MayIDestroyYou I worked for a very wealthy person and the average monthly Net a Porter spend was £20k. Plus in person shopping. She often didn’t wear things or forgot to send them back…

On the share thing - it would usually work that they'll get paid 50% in cash and then get 50% in shares in the new larger business - so GoJo and Waystar combined..
So if they do the deal and Mattson ranks the company they'd lose a chunk of their paper wealth....

Oh, thanks for explaining that, I didn't totally understand how it worked.

I am really excited for the next episode. I will rewatch this week's on the weekend, I think.😊

I always notice that no one really comments on the places they are in much even though this episode's setting couldn't be much more spectacular. I think Roman says it's 'nice' and Kendall just feels his room is too small. Shiv makes some disparaging remarks about it being a wedding venue. It's obviously very gauche to be impressed by anything other than the buffet.

I don't remember Shiv's wedding venue comments Grin What does she say?

LadyMargaretDevereux · 26/04/2023 13:31

@MarkWithaC it's when Shiv goes for her 1:1 with Maddson (or whatever he's called) she says something like 'so what is this? Some sort of wedding place, bridal shots in front of the window?' or something along those lines! Sort of indicating I suppose that she's not remotely impressed by the place, it's more for the little people.

Oh yes, I do remember the 'window' thing but hadn't caught the wedding bit GrinIt is generally gauche in Succession-world to be impressed by anything; and if you do eat or get given anything you have to be cool about it and not fuss. As opposed to Hugo piling up his buffet plate (although I was surprised; I thought he was more savvy than that) or Greg in that scene where Logan gets him to come to the townhouse and offers him a drink. Greg can't believe that he's being offered a drink by the great Logan, and bumblingly asks for a whisky and Coke, if I remember, then when their meeting ends abruptly he asks if he should 'chug it' before he goes Grin

LadyMargaretDevereux · 26/04/2023 13:55

Greg is so awkward in those situations where he's trying so hard to fit in and do what the others do, but he hasn't been brought up with money, so he won't ever get it right. I was pleased for him that Kendall did reluctantly admit he was their cousin though at the big outside do. Trying to be part of the Quad Squad was excruciating though. I agree Hugo was funny - just couldn't resist the all you can eat buffet!

blahblahblahandblahsomemore · 27/04/2023 12:12

I thought the thing with the Hugo plate was that someone else put their food on his plate (but maybe misremembering that).

MargotMoon · 27/04/2023 12:51

The QUAD SQUAD!! The entire concept of the character of Greg and his place in the family is genius.

Yes someone quickly put what looked like a large Yorkshire pudding on his plate, so it looked piled high.

I too thought Tom’s shoes were awful. I’m worried this makes me Shiv, or were we meant to think that they looked terrible?

I think Leo Dicaprio is the noise-cancelling headphones one, allegedly.

LadyWhineglass · 27/04/2023 22:08

I have heard some bad things about LDC, particularly first hand from a friend who worked for a major film studio.

mynameisnotkate · 28/04/2023 07:21

It’s funny and I love Greg as a character, but it’s one of the aspects of the show I find least plausible. Why is he always there? Why do they tolerate him bumbling around ineptly at important deals? Who asked him to Norway? From their point of view he’s surely just annoying and useless - why is he still in the inner circle?

bombayw · 28/04/2023 08:07

I don't think he's useless, he's willing to do the shit that no one else wants to do in order to get ahead and they can trust him because he has skin in the game.

blahblahblahandblahsomemore · 28/04/2023 10:15

I wonder if Euan is going to be coming back for the funeral. I love Euan.

I don’t think he’s useless but there’s definitely an element of ‘let’s get the band back together’ with him sometimes. Why would he be invited to Caroline’s wedding, it wasn’t particularly large?! I originally thought he was on the list of people the swedes had requested but they didn’t have a clue who he was so I guess Tom might have wanted him there 🤷‍♀️

A new trailer for the next episode has been released. Lots of bluffing and mind games by them all. I love it!

MargotMoon · 28/04/2023 12:29

Tom likes having him around to do his dirty work

MargotMoon · 28/04/2023 12:29

I think this is it too. Although it does raise the question of how come Tom has enough power to be able to insist on Greg being at things?

MargotMoon · 28/04/2023 12:41

Well, Tom is Head of ATN and Greg works for him so if Tom is there he can say he wants Greg along for the ride. The family events are clearly different, not sure how he wangled those!

LadyMargaretDevereux · 28/04/2023 16:58

Doesn't Greg still have all those incriminating copies of things that Tom told him to destroy? It was round the time of the cruise ship 'issues'. I think and Greg have a sort of stand off in terms of who holds all the cards because of this.

mynameisnotkate · 28/04/2023 17:18

I’m not sure those have any value any more. Those were the documents Kendal was wanting to use to bring Logan down, aren’t they? But they weren’t considered damming enough.

No he gave them to Ken whose lawyer told him they didn't prove anything
