The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

Whilst the New York apartment worth 63 million would seem like a major bequest to us, that was only one of Logan's properties and probably the smallest. Plus if any of the kids was in line to inherit it in the future, it wouldn't be Connor! So I don't blame him in one sense for steaming straight in there - it was politically quite savvy, he wants to set himself up as the heir to Logan's power and influence at least.

I do think Kerry just wanted to say goodbye to Logan's private rooms. She didn't seem to have very much stuff there, I was expecting clothes etc. So bitingly cold to get her a taxi to the subway - like the Roys couldn't afford a taxi all the way back to her flat.

I think Colin brought his son with him because he naively thought this would be a day for family to be together - the way it should have been.

Clearly a household trait, as Marcia wasn’t even there when Bridget was defenestrated in a similar manner!

Heinzbakedbeans · 18/04/2023 12:24

I don't think anything else will come of Kerry. She was Logan's mistress, she won't be in the will and she is now unemployed. She'll threaten a tell all and will be paid off. The end.

I agree Logan admired Kendall's attempts to fuck him over.

Greg? This was Logan pondering whether to leave anything to Greg since the grandpa was going to cut him out of his will. He probably also somewhat admired his ambition.

The apartment may already be in Marcia's name. It's common for the super rich (and businesses like builders/tradesman at the opposite end of the spectrum) to put assets in wives names for tax/legal reasons. Bernie and Slavica Eccleston being a famous example. As the wife, Marcia will be next of kin and in power to make decisions such as regarding the funeral. I think she will be a problem for the kids going forward.

Roman was absolutely awful in the early series and viewers are warming to him. Him making a comment about Colin's son is just reminding viewers that he is still awful as it has never once occurred to him that Roy staff may actually have a life outside of this great family.

I'm curious about Shiv and Tom. It's been hinted a few times that Shiv was in a 'bad place' when they met. Presumably not drink/drugs given Kendall's issues, and presumably not depression etc given Connor's mum otherwise they'd have been mentioned. I got the impression that she'd had a series of unsuitable boyfriends was a bit down about it and just 'settled' for Tom. Maybe it was just she was in love with someone who didn't feel the same way. I'm not convinced it was ever meant to be anything too dramatic but perhaps will be revealed as dramatic now to appease viewers.

I love all the Geri/Frank/Karl being nice but really insulting each other stuff.

MattDamon · 18/04/2023 12:58

I really thought there was going to be another Roy child out there somewhere. Murdoch's two youngest get equal money but their older siblings froze them out of voting rights. Bruce Wasserstein had a baby with another woman right before he died, causing immense family infighting over assets: <a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160712211246/www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/06/bruce-wasserstein-children-feud" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://web.archive.org/web/20160712211246/www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/06/bruce-wasserstein-children-feud

Seems too juicy an angle to overlook, BUT if the series is ending maybe they felt like they couldn't fit it in.

Love those three, they're brilliant. Geri is my favourite though

I’m also curious about the Logan / Marcia apartment. I would have assumed that Marcia would have it for life and it would then pass on to Logan’s children - whether one or all. It seemed extremely odd to me that Connor would find it necessary to buy his own father’s property.

And it’s true, Willa loudly exclaiming about how she would alter the decor - a very rare mis-step in the generally outstanding writing. There’s been absolutely no indication that she is in any way neuro-divergent - it’s inconceivable that anyone would be so crass, in the dead man’s home, in the presence of his wife.

She's married now. And her climbing mother was there. So I find it believable

tribpot · 18/04/2023 13:23

Willa did seem slightly different from normal - her outfit wasn't quite right, a bit too much leg for the event. I wonder if she feels more confident now she's married and not quite so willing to play her role?

Exactly. She's golden now

tribpot · 18/04/2023 13:27

I dunno .. Roy spouses don't exactly have an easy time (Connor's mother clearly being the worst example).

Yes. 'You were great in the 90s with cable' Grin

MarkWithaC · 18/04/2023 13:53

Willa's new confidence/crassness/leg – I hadn't thought about it being because of her marriage but yes, that makes sense. I do think it's hubris and she (and Connor) will end up somehow screwed over though.

franke · 18/04/2023 14:29

Did Carl say princess or princes? "We're not going to let the little princes screw things up are we?" I took that to mean Roman (COO) and Ken (named on the paper).

Also the scene with Kerry where Roman was strangely human and Greg was just obnoxious. I didn't see anything particularly significant on the floor that fell out of her bag - agree she maybe dropped it so she could talk to Roman.

MayIDestroyYou · 18/04/2023 14:51

I wanted it to be ‘princes’ … Not sure. Haven’t re-listened.

MarkWithaC · 18/04/2023 15:01

I think it was 'princes'. Thats makes the most sense.

TanyaandGreg · 18/04/2023 15:13

Urgh yes Greg was horrible with Kerry there. I hope she does get a payoff, she’s put the work in.

MarkWithaC · 18/04/2023 15:24

Greg just gets it that bit wrong every time, doesn't he? Unfailingly gauche. Like his excruciating attempt to sympathise with Marcia, who stood ams by her sides looking baffled.

MayIDestroyYou · 18/04/2023 15:32

Wouldn’t be surprised if Marcia was tolerating Greg because of the Grandpa Ewan factor. Can’t recall if he approved of her or not - but I’m guessing he could make her life awkward if he chose. The odd barbed comment in the national papers, maybe?

MarkWithaC · 18/04/2023 15:41

I don't know. I think if anyone in this is bulletproof, it's her. She has clearly amassed a lot of wealth/assets, the apartment being only one of them, and she was careful to have her ducks in a row about her negotiated return, with some pretty pitbullish lawyers.

MayIDestroyYou · 18/04/2023 16:17

True - she hasn’t betrayed any weakness so far across the story. However, she does have children, which means that, no matter how much money she has, she could find herself in crisis at any moment. Serious illness, disgrace - anything that confronts them would affect her. They’re her weak point. I hope ‘the kids’ are already on it! (Just in case it’s useful in the future.)

tribpot · 18/04/2023 16:28

Yep, I have just listened to it about 4 times and it is 'little princes' not 'little princess'.

I do love this scene 'oh sure, you're speculating in a comic mode'. And then Gerri comes in and says completely deadpan 'yes, well that is a very fun joke'.

This episode was all about rewriting history. Marcia returns as the devoted wife, Kendall suddenly wants to believe that Logan anointed him (also loved Roman's line 'you've tried to put him in jail like 12 times since then'), the obituaries which they tear apart with devastating accuracy (loved Shiv's line about 'Dad sounded great, I would have loved to have met Dad'), Tom trying to rewrite his history with Kendall, the conservative preacher co-opting Logan's memory. Even Kendall claiming that Logan would want him to absolutely shred him in the press with negative stories. No-one has the least concern for Connor and whether he wants these stories shared, what it might do to his campaign (could he suddenly pivot to 'mental health advocate' off the back of it?).

Only Roman has shown any creativity or integrity in this season. I really worry about what's going to happen to him, he seems by Roy standards too good to be true.

The aside from Tom that Logan died trying to fish his iPhone out of the loo does rather suggest that voicemail from Roman had something to do with it. Or at least that Roman will think it did, when he hears that nugget.

tribpot · 18/04/2023 16:31

I also like dealmaking in Marcia's world. She says a number. You say a number. She says yes. You both spit on your palms and shake on it. The end. Perhaps Waystar and GoJo could have learnt a thing or two.

slamfightbrightlight · 18/04/2023 16:37

Let’s not forget for all that Roman was nice to Kerry this episode he was an absolute prick to her over the previous three!

eighteenthirtyeight · 18/04/2023 16:44

franke · 18/04/2023 14:29

It was Princess. He was referring to Kendall as a princess in the same vain as people calling boys 'big girl's blouse' etc. It was just a derogatory comment.

Might I suggest that people watch with subtitles, it helps.

franke · 18/04/2023 17:09

Yeah I watch it with subtitles but they‘re not always completely accurate. But I agree he could have been referring to just Ken as a princess, since only Ken‘s name was on the paper.

tribpot · 18/04/2023 17:12

Reddit is divided on whether it was princes or princess, some subtitles in some countries had princes and some had princess! We may never know ...
