The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

Kerry I think was shock and then realisation that she's totally expendable now Logan is out of the picture.

Unless she’s pregnant…

I don’t think she’s pregnant. So don’t think Logan is the kind of man who would do that when still married, I suspect that even if he hadn’t died she would have been given the elbow pretty soon.

Shiv on the other hand has had scenes where she’s not drinking for a few episodes…

And Logan has changed his will? Maybe the manicness of her reaction was because she has now become obscenely wealthy?

Lottapianos · 11/04/2023 13:13

'now we have everyone scheming and it’s going to be much more interesting.

What a bloody show.'

Quite!

I've give up trying to decide who's the best actor out of all of them. They're just so brilliant

Blondbombsite · 11/04/2023 13:16

Awards wise they’ve all been incredible but I think Sarah Snook and Kieron Culkin were amazing.

In a way it’s a shame that so many of them will be eligible for the same category at award’s season as I would love for so many of them to be recognised. Matthew MacFadyen has showed incredible depth over the course of the series, even last night I believe he was genuinely upset and had a very human response, but also completely slimy and self serving.

Did anyone else wonder if part of Roman’s motivation to go and see Logan’s body was to find his phone?

I can’t wait to see what happens but I don’t really care who comes out on top, it’s both what the series is about and completely irrelevant. How we get there is far more important. I think Marcia and Ewan will end up having a big sway, but I notice they’re both absent from the trailer along with Stewie and Sandi.

I also don’t care who comes out on top (I don’t think. Maybe not Karl 😁) but look forward to seeing how we get there.

I keep thinking yes but then thinking it's a bit soap opera for Succession. We'll have to wait and see.

Roundlampshade · 11/04/2023 13:38

Sarah Snook was pg in real life during the filming of the last series. She is quoted as saying “you couldn’t see it”, “there were lots of cushions” so I don’t think that Shiv is pv in the script. But what do I know?!

slamfightbrightlight · 11/04/2023 13:56

Rewatching it now. Connor’s “He never even liked me” is so painful.

This whole show is “they fuck you up, your mum and dad” writ large isn’t it.

MayIDestroyYou · 11/04/2023 14:02

I agree a change to Logan’s Will, massively benefitting Kerry, would be a bit soap for Succession. (Though I imagine she’d get something.) Logan wasn’t blindly smitten - we saw that through his indirect rejection of her audition tape last week. She was just a convenient cheer leader in the sad absence of supportive wife or offspring.

The way the private jet contingent looked at her with one voice - all thinking “You’re fired!” was magical. I’m longing to see her realise that, so wouldn’t welcome anything twisty there.

blahblahblahandblahsomemore · 11/04/2023 14:08

*slight spoiler if you don’t intend to watch pre season trailer…

If you look at the mid season trailer then Kerry is on there looking v upset about something

MarkWithaC · 11/04/2023 14:59

Oh good lord, I just watched the mid-season trailer and my heart is pounding. It is EXHILARATINGLY awful/frightening/witty/absurd/vicious/hilarious. 'Those darn naysayers.' Grin

And some beautiful and rugged Swedish/Nordic locations, it looks like. Bring it ON!

TanyaandGreg · 11/04/2023 17:37

I’m quite glad Logan’s dead - the rest of the series playing our as kids vs Logan would potentially have felt a bit familiar

I agree with this, much as I love the show a whole other series of it would have been boring.

I saw a spoiler on the Yahoo homepage so I knew what was coming sadly. It was still a fantastic episode though. On a shallow note I loved Shiv’s outfit although thought it was a bit funereal for a wedding but it turned out appropriate in a way.

It turns out there is no dignified way to get a body off an aeroplane. I found that sobering, the great Logan Roy wheeled off on a trolley on an airfield.

MayIDestroyYou · 11/04/2023 18:19

Yes - Shiv’s funereal wedding outfit really should have been a clue!Grin

It had me scratching my head and thinking how she would have been torn apart if she’d suggested it on S&B!

tribpot · 11/04/2023 18:42

I thought maybe Shiv had come to bury her own marriage rather than celebrate Connor's! (Roman did make the comment about the death of romance as well).

Now the shock has started to wear off, Logan's death does seem like the right plot twist at the right time. I think I had assumed the series would end with Logan triumphant but completely isolated, and the kids broken (although decidedly not broke). However, in effect that's how season 3 ended. I do think it's even more of a shame there won't be a season 5, although we have 7 episodes left to explore the Logan legacy. It feels at the moment slightly uneven - the show was always leading up to this but this gamechanging event happens not in the middle nor at the end.

redrobin75 · 11/04/2023 20:26

The Succession podcast for this episode is worth a listen - interview with Jesse A and then Brian Cox. It explains why the death needed to take place in this episode.

FiftyNotNifty · 11/04/2023 22:06

There is also a great interview with Brian Cox on the Alistair Campbell podcast!
Shiv's outfit choices have always puzzled me...she must have shoppers/stylists but always looks a bit off.

Agree. But when this is brought up on MN, posters are accused of being shallow. :) I like her workwear better than her casual wear, though.

The other thing that bothers me slightly is that Shiv looks nothing like Roman and Kendall: different ethnic type.

tribpot · 12/04/2023 09:09

I wondered if Shiv has wanted to distance herself from the 'trophy' women in that world, by not being ultra groomed or overly concerned with fashion. I googled Elisabeth Murdoch (not that the Roys are the Murdochs of course) and she does seem to dress quite simply.

Maybe we're meant to think that Logan was strawberry blonde or had reddish-brown hair when he was younger (Brian Cox didn't) and that Roman and Kendall take more after their mum?

FiftyNotNifty · 12/04/2023 09:11

I'll hold my hands up to being shallow😁
It just seems a bit incongruous. Roman is always very sharp looking.

I don't think I could cope with a season where Geri is mean to him either

JaneFondue · 12/04/2023 09:14

Another thing: has anyone noticed Kendall always wears brown when dressing casually? A sort of dusty mole colour. I wonder if that is intentional. To show how insecure he was and is.

I notice these things!

I’ve been to weddings in the US and black is completely acceptable and normal, to the point where I got quizzical looks when I asked if it was ok if I wore it.

I think Roman’s clothes always look slightly crumpled and ill-fitting. Particularly his shirts, which always look to me like he’s done a button up wrong or they’re a bit small.
It’s not helped by his typical slightly cringing bearing and body language.
The effect is of a schoolboy stuffed unwillingly into his clothes, which to me reflects his divided feelings about his family and status: he loves the perks but feels a bit unsuited for and uncomfortable in the role.

IClaudine · 12/04/2023 09:25

Yes, Roman always looks as though his clothes are slightly too small for him and he never looks comfortable.

JaneFondue · 12/04/2023 09:26

I think that's intentional too, as is the way Kieran Culkin is always twisting himself into the foetal or half bent position:)

slamfightbrightlight · 12/04/2023 09:33

I may be doing them too much credit but I can’t help but think they are all deliberate decisions. Shiv wants to rule the corporate world but can’t quite hit the stylistic mark. Roman is in expensive suits but is so crippled with his emotions he can’t pull them off. Even Logan’s cable knit jumper in the credits makes me laugh because it gives “cuddly grandpa” vibes and he couldn’t be less so. Tom always looks sharp though!
