Sorry for the delay - internet went down just as I clicked create conversation....

OP posts:
RustyBear · 06/07/2008 20:31

Yes, I got that StG! It was how it happened in the parallel world without the planets getting moved that I was questioning - but presumably, moving them in one universe was enough....

SaintGeorge · 06/07/2008 20:34

Sorry Rusty, was posting as I caught up with the thread - I was actually responding to a post hours ago by KatyMac

LittleMyDancing · 06/07/2008 20:35

RustyBear - pmsl laughing at 'that sounds feasible'....only in Doctor Who world!

SaintGeorge · 06/07/2008 20:35

But in answer to your query...

Davros did say that the reality bomb would breach all dimensions and universes so maybe that is the explanation.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/07/2008 20:39

So why did rose have to go back to the other parallel universe but Mickey didnt?

RustyBear · 06/07/2008 20:45

She didn't have to, but the Doctor asked her to, to look after the human doctor, who needed her to turn him from the revengeful genocidal person he'd been 'born' as, like she did for the original doctor (remember the 9th Doctor in 'Dalek')

Presumably the Time Lord Doctor thought it would be safer if the human Doctor was exiled to the other universe - but it was never explained quite why....

Good point VeniVidiVickiqv.

It's making my head hurt trying to follow most of these threads tonight. Perhaps I'm still a little too shocked at the thought of no more DW on a Saturday night.

Mind you, dd's bedroom is full of posters, so at least I won't be losing the image of DT as the doctor anytime soon.

I'm just relieved he hasn't regenerated yet as there's no-one else I want to be doc now (though I would have liked Christopher Eccleston to keep the role on for longer).

SaintGeorge · 06/07/2008 20:48

Mickey said he had nothing to go back for. He stayed in the parallel world because his Gran was dead in our world, but still alive there.

When he was talking to the Doctor at the end he said she had died there too now, so he stayed behind this time to start a new life.

SaintGeorge · 06/07/2008 20:49

Besides, he needs to be here for the new TW series

motherinferior · 06/07/2008 20:51

Fic, please, Kay!

RustyBear · 06/07/2008 20:53

Not sure why he(Doctor 10.2)is too dangerous for this universe, but not for that one though....

morningpaper · 06/07/2008 20:54

I loved Jack and the unecessary knob-pulling

made me lol

I said it on the other thread but I'll say it again - didn't like the fob-off-Rose-with-doppelganger-embryonic-Doctor storyline but now she is set up for life with her shag-bunny I guess that leaves the way clear for the Real Doctor's future dalliances with River Song. Because that is his future, in this incarnation (presumably), though she's dead in his present, or is she, that was a different time on the library planet, but he still has to meet her and fall in love with her even though she's dead, cos that was her past, but his future as yet un-lived and...oops, my head just exploded. Oh I just want Alex Kingston to be in it again because I love her.

Thank you, www, for a categorical teeth explanation - it's been driving me mad!

RustyBear · 06/07/2008 20:55

Always up for fanfic Kay - especially even if it's smutty.
Do post a link when it's ready (if it's going online)

I liked the off-fobbing .

DP remarked today (and this is profound cultural analysis for Mr Inferior, who is of course a Prince Among Blokes but whose reading matter is almost entirely restricted to sci-fi) that Ecclestone-Doc was what made the bouncy-yet-tragic-past quality of DT-doc possible. And noticed how everyone saluted DT throughout this episode.

PortAndLemon · 06/07/2008 21:06

I have to say, when Jack's line about the two Doctors and Donna turned up I immediately thought of fanfic, and hence of Kay's fanfic.

MadamePlatypus · 06/07/2008 21:08

Wasn't anybody else wondered about the effect of pulling the earth through space? If Chiswick was rattling, wouldn't that mean that a few shanty towns were collapsing?

I liked that they tied up the Rose story line. I thought the wider shot of the kiss on DW Confidential was much better than the shot used in the episode though. The shot in the episode looked a little as though they were passing oranges to each other.

I really hate the musical finales (The music when Donna was whirling the daleks around was a little like the finale with the master last year), and I thought they could have dropped some of the companions - didn't like the scene with all of them in the tardis, but overall it was OK.

I am not sure what they were trying to do with Donna. They let her character grow and then put her right back to square one again - bit of an odd way to tell a story. I don't think we have seen the last of Catherine Tate. If Rose can come back, Donna cetainly can.

skay · 06/07/2008 21:18

I have rather a silly question for all of you....

If "Star Trek" fans are called "Trekkies",
What are Doctor Who fans collectively called?

Please tell me it's been driving me mad!

(I'm also an avid fan.)

I believe 'Whovians' is the term generally used by the media - I prefer 'Dr Who fan', or 'normal person' myself....

SaintGeorge · 06/07/2008 21:20

Trekkers not Trekkies.
