Sorry for the delay - internet went down just as I clicked create conversation....

It's suggested very early on in the 9th Doctor run that he has recently regenerated, if that helps.

Katisha · 05/08/2008 18:54

Thanks - that gets us out of minus dating then!

MadamePlatypus · 05/08/2008 18:55

Somehow I just have this suspicion that the BBC publicity department won't be shy about informing people when the new Doctor Who episodes are on.

TinkerBellesMum · 05/08/2008 18:57

No problem. He looks in a mirror and makes a comment about the size of his ears, which would suggest he is just finding out properly for the first time what he looks like. Can't remember the full thing without watching it again.

Cappuccino · 05/08/2008 19:39

yes we have just seen that one; the first one, he does look in the mirror at his ears

he surprisingly does not say 'What fantastically sexy teeth which is odd imo

mind you when he turns into Tennant the first thing Doc 10 says is 'New teeth, that's odd' so maybe he is mourning their loss

TinkerBellesMum · 05/08/2008 19:49

lol Capp!

UnquietDad · 06/08/2008 10:36

The BBC are cagey about whether there was an "official"/ "current" Doctor during the fallow years (90-95 and 97-03 - Eccleston was announced in early 04).

Some people argue that Sylvester McCoy bridged the first gap, as he does appear in the Paul McGann film for about 15 minutes and is seen to regenerate into him - plus he was in about 50 official books during the gap!

Similarly, thanks to his numerous appearances in the books and the audio plays, some argue that McGann was the Doctor for longer than just one year!

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 10:39

has everyone forgotten it's fiction?

I mean it's fiction

there wasn't a Doctor

there isn't a Doctor he is pretend

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 10:39

I'm going to get everyone howling now when I posted a thread telling everyone Santa didn't exist

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 10:47

there was a cartoon on BBCi where Richard E Grant was the Doctor maybe 3/4 years ago as well

UnquietDad · 06/08/2008 10:50

Yes, there have been three "Ninth Doctors":

Chris Eccleston on TV
Rowan Atkinson in the Comic Relief sketch
Richard E Grant in the Internet cartoon

serenity · 06/08/2008 11:02

You think it's fiction Capp, but that's just their way of covering up the truth....

UnquietDad · 06/08/2008 11:03

Blimey, look at the David Tennant Hamlet reviews here !!

They often loop back on BBC3 and do a complete run. I'd expect all four series to be shown again before the new specials next year.

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 11:35

oh my lord REALLY?

to keep forever and ever and not have to send back to Lovefilm?

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 11:35

I did a bad thing yesterday. I went a-Youtubing

I found a clip of CE asking someone if they wanted a shag and the rest of the day is a blur

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 11:36

it wasn't a Dr Who clip btw

should we start a new thread?

JackieNo · 06/08/2008 11:40

No no, just link.

Thanks for the links to the reviews, by the way, UnquietDad - very interesting. Glad he seems to be pulling it off, and isn't disappointing.

Cappuccino · 06/08/2008 11:46

no I mean a whole new thread, like this one I have created here

everyone out, the drawbridge is closing

TinkerBellesMum · 06/08/2008 21:08

McCoy wasn't in the film, his Doctor was. He refused to play him and they had to mock him up which is why you never get a good shot of him.

UnquietDad · 06/08/2008 21:35

er, that isn't true!

TinkerBellesMum · 06/08/2008 22:18

It's what I saw on a programme at the time, but (for me) it was a long time ago so I may have remembered wrong.

UnquietDad · 06/08/2008 22:28

You may be getting confused with the handover between Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, when they couldn't get Colin back for it and they had to put McCoy in a curly blond wig for a few seconds to do the regeneration.

McCoy is in the McGann film for 15-20 mins - there is a proper regeneration and everything.
scenes here

TinkerBellesMum · 06/08/2008 22:44

OKies, I was only little(ish) then so my memory is probably rather patchy

I've got it on DL so I can watch it as it has been a few years since I saw it.
