Sorry for the delay - internet went down just as I clicked create conversation....

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 28/07/2008 11:29

well we viewed the mini episode alone, and it's probb fair enough to say that it was a bit tedious out of context

however last night was our fist night of rewatching the first RTD series

forget Tennant! good grief but Eccleston is sexy!

I mean I know he has been on some stuff where he has decided to have a side parting and look vile as hell but not here

those teeth lord have mercy

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 11:20

hello? helloooooooo?

I'm all on my own now, aren't I?

ellceeell · 29/07/2008 11:27

I've just rewatched the Christopher Eccleston series - he was good, wasn't he? Doesn't Captain Jack look young!

sallyforth · 29/07/2008 12:13

I always thouht CE was sexier better than DT. Although DT was funnier.

(shallow fangirl alert!)

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 13:03

fab

let's take over the thread with our Ecclestonic admiration

there's a lot of ground to cover while they are all mooning over Hamlet (which Eccleston has already done, btw. All that Prince of Denmark stuff is so yesterday)

KayHarker · 29/07/2008 13:57

Just popping in to say I'm not going to be around for a bit - computer trouble.

(and I like CE just as well as DT, ta very much. My favourite Doctor remains Peter Davison)

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 14:23

really Kay? will you be getting the scissors out again then ?

sorry couldn't resist

honestly don't go. Don't. We might as well put the test card up if you're off as well.

My computer trouble is hopefully soon at an end. I get back my lovely macbook this week, and even though all the info on it is lost I will be getting back to blogging and fic and youtube and all those lost delights

it has been grim on dd1's computer. It has a memory even smaller than mine and it is sooooo slloooowwww. It is like the Sinclair ZX81 my dad bought me when I was a teenager

KayHarker · 29/07/2008 15:17

I can't help it, sadly - I've fixed and refixed my base unit so many times, and it's just giving up on me now. It is about 8 years old, so not bad going, really. It just keeps blinking off, and it's making internet time just one long, stressful headache.

Hopefully the new laptop will appear before too long and I'll be back and a bit more visible.

Katisha · 29/07/2008 15:22

Kay - have you tried reversing the polarity of the neutron flow?

KayHarker · 29/07/2008 15:28

It's the Helmic Regulator. Completely knackered.

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 15:32

get a new one NOW

we cannot do without you

stop mullarking about

we need a timescale 'before long' fgs this is the fast-paced new millenium

edam · 29/07/2008 15:37

CE may be sexy if that's what floats your boat (don't think real-life DT is, tbh) BUT he didn't enjoy being the Doctor as much as DT does. CE was being a serious actorrrrrr and clearly didn't watch Doctor Who as a child and had no fondness for the series. It was a job. Which is fair enough but DT is miles better because he loves it and appreciates it and will probably still watch it after he leaves (especially if he gets round to having little Tennants/Macdonalds whatever his real name is).

sallyforth · 29/07/2008 15:49

Kay does that also mean no more DW fic till your laptop arrives??? oh no!

or does it mean you will have more time to write fic without the distraction of MN? your fan base awaits the latest instalment impatiently!

(sorry hope that did not come across too stalkerish, honestly I am quite normal really, but blogging clone_doctor is getting so tedious I may have to consider defriending him and then what will I read during LO's interminable night feeds??)

sallyforth · 29/07/2008 15:51

anyway back to CE and captain jack....

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 16:10

I don't think Doctor 9 was meant to be enjoying himself as much tbh - i admit DT+ is good value in C622525nfidential

+CE did grin a lot though which was much appreciated

you can all come and laugh at my little blog of amateur fic if you like BUT KAY IS MEANT TO BE HELPING ME WITH IT AND NOW SHE HAS GONE 8

Katisha · 29/07/2008 16:19

eh?

UnquietDad · 29/07/2008 16:34

KayH - try thumping the console.

Katisha · 29/07/2008 17:15

Or get 6 people to stand round it and all thump at once?

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 17:23

okay sorry about that dd2 was playing with the keyboard

to summarise

Eccleston more moody doctor therefore contractually obliged to not look so much as if he was enjoying himself

however was very grinny which is good with regards to my fancying his teeth

edam · 29/07/2008 19:49

yeah, I know he was supposed to be all traumatised about the Time Wars yadda yadda yadda. But I just like DT's enthusiasm so much more (and none of CE's previous roles give me any confidence that he can do nice enthusiasm as opposed to 'scary character who is either tormented or will shortly be unmasked as a serial killer or both').

scaryteacher · 29/07/2008 22:38

Am on holiday so have only just got to a computer. Dr Who prom was FAB....we had seats in a box one away from RTD and Phil Collison, and also Catherine Tait. Got RTD and Phil C to autograph DSs programme, and we saw Peter Davison as well. It was soo good, and then we went to the Dr Who exhibition at Earls Court, which ds enjoyed. We were thoroughly Doctored out by the time we got back to mils.

I hope they do another one next year, and will be applying for tickets early again.

JackieNo · 29/07/2008 22:39

OOoh scaryteacher, am very . Sounds fab. Glad you had a good time.

sallyforth · 30/07/2008 06:50

so Capp can you post a link to your fic?

Cappuccino · 30/07/2008 09:31

sally yes when I have sorted it out a bit

oh proms sounds great, I really must be cultured in future. Where do you apply for tickets for next time?

edam yes, he is scary and odd, but for me that is part of the appeal. And the teeth. I remember seeing CE in an episode of The League of Gentlemen where he had to smile unpleasantly, and I think the line was soething like 'Mr so-and-so, as I live and breathe'

and he was playing a creepy fey dog breeder in an oversized camp hat, but still my first thought was 'bite me'
