Sorry for the delay - internet went down just as I clicked create conversation....

I haven't seen casonova either...TBH I didn't know who DT was till he became DR. WHo... I don't think he is all that sexy.. but its the charater that is.. the wittyness of his lines... if he wasn't the doctor than I wouldn't fancy him... though I must admit to haveing a thing for the funny guy..(love love love.. or is that lust? over Dean on Supernatural.. he gets all the best lines... and Ryan Renolds abs on Blade III........ perhaps thats why I fell for my DH. the humor not the abs.

the heady blend of sarchasm, brains, and sexiness...

sadly I'm not geek enough to know all the episode names.. .. will defintly need to watch them all again to refresh my memory.. please don't kick me off the thread... honest I'm a true geek.. but I am American and never saw Dr. who till I moved here...

SciFiFan · 09/07/2008 19:32

As I've finally got my YouTube back (blinkin computer) I had to post a link to one of my fave DT vids almost as good as some of Kays fic...almost (has to go off for a cold shower now ).

Initial thoughts on top 10 episodes - definately Family of Blood/Human Nature, Blink, School Reunion, Empty Child/Doctor Dances and maybe Girl in the Fireplace.

KayHarker · 09/07/2008 19:33

Right, second half of my top ten favourites (and eagle-eyed readers will note I'm going in chronological order because I too, am using my boxset running orders to work it out...)

Smith and Jones. Ten and Martha, third series. I included this instead of Blink, actually, because I really loved the Martha that was introduced in this story. She flirted (and was flirted with by the Doctor), but she was also clever, brave and not afraid to good-naturedly mock him. If she'd have been written like that for the rest of the series, it would have been much better, but she got lumbered with the crush storyline, and some truly dire scripts (Dalek Cabaret, I'm looking at you)

Human Nature/Family of Blood, Ten and Martha. As already mentioned, the scarecrow episodes where he becomes human. An astonishingly good performance from Tennant, particularly the bit where he switches instantly from the Doctor's voice to John Smith's. Martha also shines, I love the bit just before she slaps him.

Utopia, Ten, Martha and Jack for all the reasons serenity mentioned (Jack/Ten flirting, muchly yes) but primarily for Chan Tho and Derek Jacobi's all-too-short stint. Could have watched him for ages.

Fires of Pompeii, Ten and Donna. Just the right pitch of funny (The Welsh running gag!) and moving, and plenty of spine-tingling moment of foreshadowing (more than we realized in hindsight, of course - Donna and the Doctor pressing the plunger togther etc.)

Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Ten, Donna, River Song. Loved the atmosphere, again, and the mystery romance stuff. Wasn't 100% on the very end, but the rest of it was so good, I forgive a little bit of cheating to get rid of the monster.

MegReally · 09/07/2008 20:01

oh crap I have FORGOTTEN all this! I can't remember any of it!

I liked the gasmask one purely for the bit at the end where the woman told Richard Wilson that her leg had grown back. I heart Richard Wilson

Richard Wilson for Dr 11

SciFiFan · 09/07/2008 20:04

Richard Wilson FFS !!!!!!!!!!!!! He's about 100. I like him but not as the Dr.

Sorry for disagreeing Meg .

MegReally · 09/07/2008 20:16

I was only kidding! I do like him though, but he is probably about 10 years too old for me now... Certainly I find him sexier than John Barrowman. Sorry

I've been trying to think of favourite episodes and then I remembered a worst one - Daleks in Manhattan. Daleks and the pigs running about in the sewers? and the awful American accents? and the shoot-out in a theatre? and that woman?

I loved that one where they all had little cars though and they had been stuck in a traffic jam for years. I loved their little cars.

SciFiFan · 09/07/2008 20:38

I liked the cars but couldn't stand the cat people - they just seemed downright daft to me so it kind of ruined the episodes they were in.

I didn't like the blowfish in Torchwood either or the loan Shark in Buffy.....I like alien/monsters to look like alien/monsters not some adaptation of an earth animal.

The adipose were a bit daft too though kinda cute.

oh oh daleks in manhattan had the pig people - again with the dislike!

edam · 09/07/2008 23:06

Daleks in Manhatten was very ropey but did have that lovely exchange between the showgirl and Martha re. Dr Who not being interested: "Oh, he's a fan of musical theatre..." Which I thought was a nice reference to Barrowman (and probably RTD, too).

scaryteacher · 09/07/2008 23:18

Was I dreaming or are they reshowing the last 2 episodes in series 4 this Saturday? Hope so...more tissues needed for Journey's End.

KayHarker · 09/07/2008 23:23

Yeah Daleks in Manhattan - that's what I mean by 'Dalek Cabaret'. Honestly, two Daleks on stage, dragging a chained gimp-man with six penises on his face between them. Dear lord, that's one messed up piece of television.

The last two eps are repeated on Sunday, together, yes.

sphil · 09/07/2008 23:42

Ooh top ten!Can I join in? Haven't posted on here for ages, but have been lurking and spending far too much time following links...

1 - 10 (1 being favourite)All from DT era, as I didn't watch much of Series 1.

1 - Family of Blood two parter
2 - Christmas Invasion
3 - Satan Pit two parter
4 - Doomsday
5 - Girl in Fireplace
6 - Empty Child/Doctor Dances
7 - Tooth and Claw
8 - Midnight
9 - Turn Left
10 - Planet of the Ood

I think...

Rosylily · 10/07/2008 09:06

Oh I HAVE to get Casanova, I have never seen it and it looks scrumptious in the clip! slurp.

I can't remember my favourites, it's all a blur of brilliantness.

What was the one with all the cars driving endlessly? And Dr Who opening the roof for them. I liked that little one.

Blink was fantastic and I was so scared and gripped by it, I'm too scared to watch it again!

I really liked the Sally Sparrow one.

Empty Child too disturbing for me too.

John Smyth was a good one. Really engaging.

I did like Chris Eccleson as the Dr but love, love love DT as Dr Who and I'm dreading him leaving. I had only seen him as Barty Crouch before. Not into Rose or Martha as much as Donna Noble. I'm gutted she is gone now.

MegReally · 10/07/2008 10:21

I am going to rewatch Series 1, I have decided. Maybe I convince dh to do an evening course or something

kay spot-on with 'gimpman'. And what were those Daleks doing anywhere? They were the from a race that was the potential architect of global destruction, able to drag planets across galaxies and build a massive reality bomb, yet they were employing blokes to build a skyscraper? Where was Dalek Sarah Beeny?

them were crap Daleks

edam · 10/07/2008 10:24

Maybe it's the Daleks who are to blame for the sub-prime lending crash and our economic woes? And Gordon Brown is in their thrall? He's always looked a bit inhuman...

MegReally · 10/07/2008 10:34

now that would be clever. If Dalek Sarah Beeny waits for the housing market to bottom out, she can buy up all the property in the world and then employ all the newly homeless destitute people to bolt bobbly bits of metal to the top

genius

serenity · 10/07/2008 10:42

They were crap Daleks. Davros's Daleks were superior because they were made directly from his genetic material - all the others we've seen on NuWho were generations away from that

Depending on how fast you read, this might tide you over for a while (it's very good)

The Ten Doctors

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 10:54

I have to stop reading this thread, I keep getting Doctor Who dreams! Anyone else find that pregnancy dreams weird?

MegReally · 10/07/2008 11:04

Yes. And I'm not pregnant.

SciFiFan · 10/07/2008 11:13

I had the most erotic dream about Spike (from Buffy) when I was pregnant - I still remember it 6 years later!!! It was v good .

Must be something about the hormones!

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 11:32

The one night I hardly slept because I kept dreaming Doctor Who, even just closing my eyes. lol this thread is no good for me!

KayHarker · 10/07/2008 11:50

Elffriend asked for a bit of re-do of the beach scene, so I had a go here. It's essentially the same, but I've done it from Second Doctor's perspective to make it a bit more immediate, and I've added what I think should have happened before the crucial snogging moment.

And, for your amusement, a motivator poster that won't be very effective in motivating you, methinks

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 12:03

ahem... pregnancy hormones... I'm not crying...

SciFiFan · 10/07/2008 15:45

Kay - am loving your fics. Keep them coming!

UnquietDad · 10/07/2008 15:47

MegReally - yes, and the best bit of that is his line "There is a war on - is it possible you miscounted?"

"Sally Sparrow one" is called "Blink" and is my favourite of all 4 years so far.

"The one with all the cars" is called "Gridlock". Oddly, I didn't like that one much.

RustyBear · 10/07/2008 16:19

"This site was blocked by restriction list: RM Pornography Filter List"

What did you put in that beach scene Kay?
I'll have to wait till I get home....
