Rivals I think for me, nostalgia AND how the other half live!

White Lotus, again, how the other half live!

These are sublime in my opinion:

  1. Spiral (I was in mourning whhen it ended. It was the best TV ever)
  2. Babylon Berlin (Such an amazing series; the sets, the cinematography, acting, music, clothes, dancing and the script. Last season to hit next year?)
  3. Deutschland 86 etc.. (Another amazing German series, so informative too)
  4. Slow Horses (so drole, so exciting, so addictive)
  5. Fleabag Series 2 (the best sexual chemistry created between a gay man and a happily married woman)

The Tower: A tale of two cities

An 8 part series that was on in 2007.
I'm not a great watcher of television but this one captured me, very sad in places.

Edited

I remember this, I loved it but nobody has ever heard of it

Narcos-perfect casting and suspenseful. Complex characters.
Mad Men-set when the USA was the most glamorous country in the world and the cast-all complex characters-lived up to the hype and were perfect. The last scene is wonderful-it went out with a bang and didn’t run out of lines.
Call My Agent-French-funny, charismatic characters who you cared about.
Spiral and The Killing. Wonderful female characters and great storylines.

QuirkyHorse · 11/09/2026 21:43

@ohsonogo it aired at 11pm. I only stayed up late to watch it because I was on maternity leave.
The man with tourettes made me sad, he committed suicide ☹️
The series won a Bafta but as you say, no.one seems to have heard of it.

Lambsydaisy · 11/09/2026 21:45

Dexter, the original series, I actually couldn't get into the reboot, though I might give it another go. I just enjoyed it so much, can't put my finger on why though.
I enjoyed The In-between, but there was only one season. I like things about psychic powers and the paranormal.
The original BBC version of pride and prejudice with Colin firth as Mr Darcy is absolute comfort for me, my go to if I want a cosy night in or I'm feeling a bit down, it's perfect.
Bones was good fun, a bit samey after a while.
Fresh prince of Bel air, the original, assuming they remade it at some point. Was bloody brilliant.

Nothing touches Line of Duty

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 11/09/2026 21:48

Shtisel.

It's fascinating and it's in Hebrew and Yiddish, so you have to watch it without being distracted by a phone or book, so that you can read the subtitles.

The acting is superb.

Better Call Saul. Sheer brilliance and Bob Odenkirk is incredible. I would watch it all again.

Line Of Duty = best UK series. So intense, challenging to keep up with, gripping storylines and a clever story arc running all through the series, great writing and acting and Adrian Dunbar being strangely fanciable.

Schitts Creek. Pure joy and not too schmaltzy.

The leftovers

Came on to say this. I found it really affecting and it wrapped up so well. Love Carrie Coon in it so much. I don't know why it is so unknown.

Also West Wing always good for a rewatch (up to s4).

Dark was brilliant. Mind bending.

Call my Agent. The french one. I loved the characters so much I didn't want it to end. There's a film out this month I think. Excited!
