Wasn’t Priya working in the bap van last time we saw it?

She was yes. The oil and grease must’ve played havoc with her pale, white clothes and hair though.

I dont remember that Elvis !

Well that is apparently him. Like I said I envisaged a fat Elvis lookalike (white) ageing with a black quiff and rhinestone jacket. 🤣

I can't remember when we last saw the bap van. I suppose Eve still works there, on her own. Although as previously discussed, residents of Walford seem to work about six days a year.

So I guess we are supposed to think Mo and Jean live together in that huge house. Lily and Charli moved into the Vic when Jean went off on one about Jasmine.

Nice that Jean can take lengthy holidays, with Lynn first wasn't it, and now with the Wendys.

The Vic is like a Tardis or assumed to have more rooms than it does have then. No HMO’s around the square. You’d think Jack would be onto that as a property investment.

MyWildOliveGoose · 16/06/2026 09:20

Oh today’s episode was really hard to watch. I cried three times. But I am a mess as I’ve just got out of a stretch in hospital being separated from my kids so, maybe it hit a nerve.

Warning to have the tissues ready ladies.

Nobody commutes in EE. No long, sweaty tube rides for them. You just borrow some money from Phil/Ian/Suki to buy a business 3 minutes from your house , or you beg a local job off one of your neighbours doing something you have no experience of (usually for minimum wage that somehow covers mortgage/rent on a London square).

Ah, Walford!

Exactly you’re supposed to think Penny, Billy et al make a decent living on the market. Maybe they do? The only realistic family with money and benefits was with Karen Taylor (weren’t they moved from a nearby council estate) but they were your token benefits family, the poor family, with potential Asbos. You never see them down the dole office. Authorities are in the form of teachers, doctors, police, market inspector, social worker.

Sorry to hear that, hope you’re feeling better. Flowers

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 09:40

Priya has moved on to car sales.
I assume that Eve must run the stall on her own , if it’s still there.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 10:02

I liked the Taylor’s. The two boys she had went to live with their dad and she had Keanu and Bernie around.
She was a funny character and I liked her relationship with the plumber ( can’t remember his name ) who had the clever daughter. She did work in the laundry for a while , but always hard up.

thisoldcity · 16/06/2026 10:17

So we've had defiant boogey-ing, cases of Chlamydia, Father Phil intervening with his worldly wisdom, and some huge variation in acting - good (Chelsea) bad (Jasmine) and ugly (Josh). I liked Kim with the microphone, a character actually having a good time for 5 minutes (max allowed in EE). Penny's baby is obviously going to be Harry's as Vinnie is so happy and Penny is being so stubborn.

They certainly crammed a lot in.

Shellingbynight · 16/06/2026 10:22

I don't know if many posters on here watch Corrie? (I do off-and-on). Last night the actor who plays Nick certainly gave Josh a run for his money in weird expressions and poor acting, and he has no excuse - he's been on the show for nearly 20 years!

I hope you're able to get home soon.

The shining light in last night's episode was Penny's comment about telling Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee about the chlamydia.

Me too. I always remember the episode when Karen was really like and she was trying to
flog the children’s Xbox for cash to pay debt collectors.
Bernie was lovable too.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 10:52

I have started watching Corrie again after a long hiatus Shelling and see you around on that thread! ..
I missed Nick with Sam at the start , but I agree he is a bit wooden. Poor Sam.
I feel that the acting is better on EE overall ( jazz hands and Jasmine aside ) and the storylines make a bit more sense , although that’s a low bar isn’t it!!
They seem to have more humour on Corrie. I am at a loss with a lot of the characters and have to do a bit of googling to catch up with past events.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 12:10

It is sad today.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 14:00

It’s not until you see them together do you realize how many children Jack and Jack and Dee have between them. Libby moaning about things was funny and realistic.
It was well done today.

Love Father Phil

Used to. No longer. Got sick of being preached at and the really bad acting.

Shellingbynight · 16/06/2026 15:06

@cramptramp I don't blame you. I moan about EastEnders but it is far better, at least there are still a lot of characters we care about.

BitLippie · 16/06/2026 15:37

Oh I can’t be doing with the other soaps (well, since Brookside ended years ago!). Corrie especially winds me up and I’m not sure why.

EE for life! 🤣

Today’s episode was a tearjerker. The scene with Kim & Denise was so sweet and sad. Tameka Empson is great when they give her more serious storylines. You forget, as she is always the funny one, but sgr does have range as an actress,

Jack&Jack wooden as usual, though. And we reality didn’t need that Chlamydia update scene from Oscar wedged into an otherwise poignant and serious episode.

On a superficial note, Diane Parish is absolutely beautiful with less make up and her natural hair. Looks amazing for 57!

NowNumber5 · 16/06/2026 17:19

@MyWildOliveGoose Wishing you all the best for your recovery 💐

Oh my, there was a lot of dust around today.
I love Dee, she has great relationships with her own children, her stepchildren and her immediate family. The sisters scenes were really touching.
Poor Ricky, he’s been through a lot of medical drama with his mums bless him.

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 16/06/2026 17:23

Dee looked stunning with the yellow scarf wrapped round her head.

Oh i liked them too. But they were judged to pieces by the square (and assume viewers) when they arrived. But they done good in east ender speak in the end even though it was sad with them leaving and Ken dying/murdered.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2026 18:27

The clever daughter I was thinking about was Bailey.
It came to me today. They all left for Spain in a big old van with some stolen money and Chantelle’s tree.

Oh yes, she was a budding scientist. I can't imagine they nurtured that in Spain.
